That is how you can go back into the thing and restart any part of the game.

yeah, but a level select menu could have worked just as well and probably caused less confusion.  but who knows, maybe they put in a time sensitive easter egg that will pop up in the office after a certain date....

There is also a rumor of a New Year's Eve snow BBQ involving fireworks, sleds, tobbogans, and tequila.

The BBQ won't be awesome unless Kevin Grey is doing it.  sorry.

Unexpected:  Tabula Rasa.  holy cow that game is fun.

It is?  I played the beta and thought it was boring.  Did they change anything?

I wasn't in the beta but I'm having fun with the sci fi setting and the combat.  granted, the combat isn't FPS but it feels more interactive than WoW's 'click on an icon every so often' method.  the real test will be how long I end up playing it.  WoW only lasted a couple of months before I got bored, and none of the other MMORPG's have made it past the free month for me.  Still, I wasn't expecting to like TR at all when I grabbed the 3 day trial.

The system could have been a little bigger. It could have been set up better. When they went to the elite, they should have scrapped the "slimfast" design for something that allowed them to address the problem properly, rather than wait for tech. to catch up.

yeah, they should have made them TiVo sized!

The last mission drew me in bigtime.

I anticipate the sequel.

Purge, I agree. I loved the ending. Cant wait for the sequel.

You got an ending? You must have played a different game.  My wife even commented "Uh...where's the rest of the game?  Is there another disc?"

at least it doesn't pull a Halo 2 were it gears you up for a big fight and then ends.  In AC you know you have 9 assassinations, you off them then face your master, the company gets it's info and decides to go after the artifacts and keep you on ice in case they need you.  Granted they shouldn't have left you to wander around the office after you view all the hidden symbols, but the ending was kind of like the original Half Life.
61652  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: I finally finished Half Life 2 on: December 17, 2007, 06:20:40 PM

Even though I am not sure I love what they did with it, I hope its a huge success on 360 so the series doesn't die.

well the delay for the 360 may help burn out people on all the other MP games out there like CoD4, TF2 and Halo 3, but I'm doubting it.

So is the main protagonist (redundant?) actually a woman this time around?  Is that a first for the series?  I mean, the male leads have always looked like women but this is the first time for it to be an actual woman correct?

Well, FF6 kind of initially presents itself as having a female lead but later turns into pretty much a straight up ensemble piece.  FFX-2, of course, features all female protagonists.

yeah, who could forget FFX-2: Charlies Angels!

well, tonight I saw 2 control poins in the Divide fall, Purgas Hospital and the Hydro Plant.  The plant got taken back quickly, but the Hospital is so far out of the way it could be a while until it gets taken back (unless the AI does it).  I like the whole feel of the Divide- artillery shells falling, a nice wasteland and menacing machines of death.  I saw on the chat someone mentioned they were putting mechs in the game- that could be pretty cool.

Maybe this will finally convince studios to stagger their releases.  Hollywood delays the release of movies all the time.  So just delay the release of the game until it's not competing with 1000 other games of the same genre.

you'll have to convince EA that.  Good luck!  icon_biggrin

seriously for years people were predicting the death of pc gaming and its probably time to admit that it happened, and it happened a few years ago - with a whimper, not a bang.  dont get me wrong the pc still reigns with those beautiful, upper class rts games, the mmo and the isometric rpg but other than that its over.  just remember how big the pc games section was about seven to ten years ago.  and think of it now.  ut3 and crysis are just the sign of one more genre down and over to the console

I don't think that qualifies as dead.  hell, WoW has what, 8 million subscribers at 15 bucks a month?  so essentially they have 8 million people buying 3 60 buck games a year?  Plus don't forget the Deer Hunter games  icon_wink
