that is pretty impressive.  do they have a month by month chart for '07?  i'd like to see what big releases/news set the scale to tip in sony's favor.

I think Sony's Big Fat Wallet (2007) had more to do with it than any releases.

You don't think the Pirates  of the Carribbean releases had an impact? The Die Hard films? Look at what got released versus HD DVD and it's not hard to see why Blu-Ray sold more.

I think it was more of the fact that both sides were waving around big buckets o' cash and Sony had the bigger bucket.

But at least this movie is a good way for people to find that out way before they get to that recruiting office. Thats how it got my interest.

I haven't seen his performance, but I hope DDL wins.  He's a fabulous actor who deserves recognition.

Although his perfomance was excellent I doubt he'll win only because he already won in the 90's for his role in My Left Foot. And since he got passed over for his outstanding supporting role in Gangs of NY, I don't see this perfomance netting him his 2nd oscar. IMHO I think the actor oscar should really go to Viggo Mortensen for his role in Eastern Promises, which was just an outstanding peformance.
The fact that Eastern Promises hasn't been nominated for best editing and screenplay adaptation has already made me more or less write off this years Oscars. Of course all the quality editing and adaptation in that film is of the clever, cerebal and subtle type, which Hollywood has shown time and again amounts to nothing at nomination time.

I totally forgot about Eastern Promises- I saw the commercials and wanted to see it but then didn't, so off to the Netflix queue it goes!

Speaking of Ultima....

One of of my proudest moments was getting U7: Serpent Isle working!  A complete PC neophyte in 1993 who didn't understand anything about config.sys or autoexec.bat, I had my first computer for all of one week and I was trying to get the game to run with sound working.  (I'm sure those of us who played it back then all remember the hellish Voodoo Memory Manager).  Finally after working on it for two days with no luck and having resolved to return it the next day, I got it running perfectly at 3am!  Boy am I glad too.  To this day it remains my favorite game of all time.

hey, I totally repressed that memory.  put me down for that too, except it was for the Black Gate, and I had to do it twice, once the first time I got it and then tweaking stuff for when I finally got a sound card and had to get more free memory.

Agreed on all points.  I just have to wonder how in the hell the original writers signed off on this?

I'm not sure who owns the rights to the Chronicles books right now, but Weiss/Hickman could have had no say in the whole matter.
