The microtransaction thing on The Godfather strikes me as just another way for people to cheat their way through a game instead of naturally unlocking those things. While I agree it's stupid to do that, I can't say that would detract from his enjoyment of the game. None of those things are needed for anything other than being a god right from the start and that takes away from the fun.

I agree with the exception of the way the micro-transactions are implemented. Unless you know ahead of time what to avoid, you just talk to a random henchman or weapon salesman on the street and boom you're switched to the dashboard and taken to the marketplace asked if you want to spend some real world cash... err... points. The way it is integrated, yet not very well integrated, into the game is what bugs me.

I tried doing it with some screenshot software, but this computer doesn't have any software I can use to crop the picture (nobody wants to see my desktop and taskbar).

I play games at 720p and watch DVD's at 1080i.  I didn't notice a difference between 720p or 1080o with 360 games so I figured 'd go with the lower 720p so it would tax the system less (I'm not sure if 1080i taxes the system more though).

well I ended up buying Fatal Frame for play on the 360 last night.  I was tempted by The Shield game but the only 2 reviews I've seen on Gamerankings have made it a sub $10 purchase.

wow, this is a creepy game.  I don't think I've ever been creeped out by a game before but right now this one seems to be hitting all the right buttons and I'm only a hour into it on the 360 courtesy of backward compatibility.  Now I just need to track down the next two FF's.  I know the second game came out on the XBox, but was the 3rd PS2 only?

Oh, and I can't wait to see what these guys can do if they ever decide to do a Fata Frame on the 360 or PS3

If you're looking for a game for the 360 go with Just Cause- it's a blast and I heard there are graphical issues with the Godfather on the 360.  If you really want the Godfather get it on the PC for less of the 'pop up' effect.

A friend of mine had one of those. The turbo feature basically made everything unfair.  It was, however, the only way to do well in track n field.

You could pound the buttons on the standard controller and get your guy going up to a jog, or you could use turbo and have him fly down the track.

I remember buying one of those and then firing up 'Gunsmoke' over at a friends house to try it out.  It was like your six shooters had become machine guns

[Battlestations: Midway]

Not much for me this weekend.  I had fun trying out the Battlestations: Midway demo on Friday night and played some Just Cause while downloading it.  Oh, and an abortive attempt at Shadow of the Colossus (which was promptly returned Saturday).  No gaming on Saturday or Sunday as I sat down and finally did a marathon of the Lord of the Rings Extended Editions on Saturday and tried to catch up on my DVR recordings on Sunday.

I think you should continue with this vote, but also add suveys for the top game for each platform. I'm just as interested in seeing the overall top console and handheld game as I am in seeing the top game for each platform.

I was going to attempt Target this morning, but when my alarm went off I just hit and went back to sleep.  Apparently we got snow this morning so I wouldn't have gone anyways.

I played one match on Friday night.  I was on the Japanese side in a 4v4.  I got ZERO kills  but managed to at least fly my airplanes and keep theirs busy.

Also, I thought they only held pre-orders for 48 hours.

Would they keep a pre-order if it was paid for in full?  They didn't have any boxes out and they didn't have any behind the counter where they keep most of the 360 games.  The guy working there opened up the cupboard where they keep the pre-orders to look and said they were all spoken for.  Normally they crew there are really good about what they have available.

Buy a gamecube and Zelda instead? 

I'm actually starting to consider doing that.  I'll need to grab a a GC memory card and controller anyways, and right now there is only a few games that I really need a Wii for: Red Steel, Trauma Center and Zelda.  I can get Zelda for the GC and then just trade in or give away the GC when I finally get my hands on a Wii.

I voted for FFXII.  Black was my second choice.  The only other game I played on that list is GoW, which honestly I'd put behind Zelda (which I have never played).

I'd vote for her.  I can't bring myself to like a guy with the name 'Obama'....  blame Osama.
