Remember that while the PS3 is region free on the games side, there is still region protection for movies.  Which means if you want to use the PS3 for a Blu-ray player, you're going to be stuck watching japanese hentai movies.

Well I'm excited about the new launch! Even though I'm not getting a PS3.  Still it's always fun when a new console comes onto the market isn't it? smile  I just read that the PS3 is being released here this Saturday in Japan.  I thought it wasn't coming out till December here.  Unfortunately I have to work on Saturday so I won't be able to go out and take pictures of the RIDICULOUSLY long lines outside of BIC Camera.

So I finished Grandia last night!  Woot!  One game down and only 35 games to go!

You can read my write-up on Grandia at RPG Rewind but be warned there are complete spoilers for Grandia so if you haven't played it but intend to you should avoid my site.

My copy of Lunar: Silver Star Story Complete arrived from Ebay earlier this week.  I hope to get started on it by the weekned after I write up a brief review of Grandia.

Onward!

So it took you about five weeks to finish a game?  Remind me to check this thread again in about 3 years! lol
5207  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Want Exclusives? Then You Want Microsoft for the Next 7 months on: November 02, 2006, 12:42:07 PM
Why bother getting Ridge Racer 6 when you can get Ridge Racer 7?  I'd take any FPS games off the list as they all play on the PC and they should all be played on the PC anyways.  Unless of course your console has mouse and keyboard support in which case I suppose it's ok.
I also have to agree that the Xbox 360 has been out for almost an entire year now so I would HOPE that it's list of exclusives would be significantly longer than other non-released consoles.

They look nice.  A far cry from $600 nice, but nice.

In these days of paying close to $600 to get the next top of the line graphics card (probably with a 2 year lifetime), I don't see how some people can balk at $600 for an entire console.

Don't get me wrong-I agree that $600 is a lot of money-which is why I don't have a $600 Nvidia card.  But there seems to be a lot of hypocrisy around here when it comes to dishing out cash for the computer and dishing out cash for the console (not calling you a hypocrite Kathode, just making a general observation about what I notice on these forums.)

Hmm yeah I have to agree about the HDTV thing.  I don't have any proof to back it up but I think most people are going to go HDTV nowadays.  Now they obviously arent all going to be buying $3000 plasma tv's but you don't have to anymore.  My tv is HD (kind of-it isn't the full HD im sure but whenever I watch Discovery HD it goes to a better resolution) and it only cost a little lesss than $400.  And it's 29 inches too.  Hell here in Tokyo, whenver I go into an electronics store, there are no longer any old TV's on display anymore.  All they have is the flat panel kind.

So basically to get all those cheats, it would cost approximately another $25 on top of what you already paid for the game.  That is just sad. Can you keep reusing the cheat or once that $50,000 dollars is gone do you have to send in another $1.25?

Maybe somebody could educate me about this.  Are 100 points equal to $1.00?

Actually no they don't and who can blame them? US cars are trash compared to Japanese cars.  Heck even Americans are buying Japanese more than American these days! A status symbol car for Japanese is usually German, either a Mercedes or a BMW.  You see lots of those over here.  You can even see the odd Volkswagen as well.

Can we still go to Gamefaqs and get codes for free or has EA removed that ability?  Say all you want about how it's your choice to buy the code but if you cant still look it up on the internet then they're not really giving you much of a choice anymore.  Perhaps there'll come a day when you can no longer input codes into your games?  Cheats either have to be unlocked through gameplay or activated through some main server after you pay for it.

Wasnt there a famitsu poll a while back that suggested that the Japanese were way more excited about the Wii than the PS3?  Looks like the PS3 is gaining some ground-either that or the Wii is losing it.

What do you think about the Xenosaga series?  I've owned the first game for at least 3 damned years and the furthest I've gotten in it is 1h 27m!!  Last night I got inspired to play through it again and beat it this time.  I'm still in the tutorial but I'm hoping that I'll like it enough to go out and get the next two in the series.  For those of you that have played, what do you think?  I love the idea of a continuous story over three chapters, a trilogy if you will.  I know there are some long cutscenes but that doesn't really bother me as long as the story is good.

Not a chance, M$ is making to much $$$ from that service.

Really? I don't know about that.  I mean that only amounts to $4 per month per user.  They're basically providing the same service as companies like Blizzard who charge $15 per month.  I can't imagine that Online service is their bread and butter.

This has never happened to me before.

The game world is so vibrant and so beautiful that I don't want to miss a single thing.

I'm just saying that compared to his previous comments (in June maybe?) that it's a bit underwhelming.  That's great that he loves exploring a beautiful map but that doesn't make it the greatest RTS of all time.  He hasn't really talked about it since, which is something I wish I could say for that goddamn Dwarve game that he keeps going on about endlessly.

God knows don't get me wrong, I'm no angel so I'm not going to go giving lectures about purchasing games but it does seem a little silly to think that because you bought the game, that gives you the right to as many people as you want play it for free.  I mean, how is that any different for buying the game and then burning 5 copies and giving it to all my friends so that we can play online together?  Like I said, not judging you here but your protestations do seem a little bit ridiculous.

All this proves is that assigning a game a number is ridiculous.  All sites should be like Wargamer.com which don't provide any ratings.  You read the review and see what the guy has to say.  With that said, if the requirements for a 10 do not include the game being "perfect" then I don't see why it can't be given a 10.  In fact I dont think there has ever been a perfect game which means we probably could just reduce the scale from 1 to 9.
