Why is it exactly that you are looking for an at home job?  Kids?  Health problems?

I should state that I'm looking for the GOTY copy of Oblivion if anyone has it.

I think we all know that FF13 won't be out in 2008.  I mean heck, there hasn't even been a release date for Japan yet has there?

Anyone interested in unloading their copy?  Paypal's fine with me.
4565  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Jeanne D'Arc Impressions on: January 13, 2008, 11:23:53 PM
Well I just beat it yesterday.  It doesn't hold a candle to FFT but that is probably an unfair comparison.  It's probably the first game I've beaten since Ico and that was only a 10 hour game.  Overall it was not bad. I would have liked cooler spell animations like in Final Fantasy Tactics.  I got 41 hours out of it (probably around 45 hours with the restarts) so that's a pretty good ratio when you consider that it only cost $30.

Looking to get $20 shipped.

4568  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Splitfish FragFX impressions on: January 13, 2008, 03:44:47 AM
Nice review. I don't actually think that you would need a keyboard.  You could use the controller in your left hand with the directional buttons for WASD. You could also use the two left shoulder buttons for say maybe jump and crouch.  The left anologue stick could be used for "use", "reload" etc etc, just by pushing it in one of the four directions.  Then of course you would have your mouse buttons and mouse wheel.  That kind of set up sounds perfectly viable to me and I hope games will make it so that you can do that.  For those people who have been playing UT3, can you do that? forgo the keyboard altogether?  I would be using a wireless optical mouse so it should work just fine right on my couch.  No need for a coffee table or anything!  And just as convenient as playing with the gamepad only.

Sony will not offer any sort of trade-in or discount promotion when the new rumble controllers are released.

Why in God's name would they?

according to the link

Psp games are region free....but they recommend you get the system and games in the same region due to language.  But then again wouldn't you be able to load an english firmware on it??  Then just buy american games.....they will be in english.......

I don't think there are any problems regarding language-I certainly haven't experienced any anyways on my Japanese PSP.  On the other hand, if there is a problem with your PSP then it could be troublesome when it comes to Sony fixing it or whatnot.  You'd probably have to send it back to Japan.  That's the only downside I can forsee.

4575  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: EGM gets blacklisted for 'poor reviews' on: January 10, 2008, 08:43:42 AM
I think that basically what needs to happen is that all number scores get banned.  Don't give a game any kind of score.  Write an intelligent, thoughtful review and make the reader read it instead of just looking at the top or the bottom of the page.  The Wargamer does it all the time.

Interesting.  Corn is almost useless as an ethanol source as it takes almost as much energy to produce it.    What are the South Americans producing it with? Sugarcane?  Apparently that is much more efficient.

That's why you go to places where you can get nomihodae (all you can drink).  If you wanna really live then I suggest going to a nomihodae/tabehodae yakiniku restaurant.  You can drink as much as you can and eat (and grill yourself) as much meat as you can for about 2 hours for about $25 US.

What, I'm not allowed to think someone is pretentious, egomaniacal, annoying, and not like his writing? If you want to be a public figure (and he clearly does), people aren't going to like you and are going to express the opinion.

Oh you're certainly entitled to hate him, it just seems like you make a point to make your stance clear every time Qt3 or Tom are mentioned here.  Was just curious why, but with the whole cat thing it all makes sense.

This is what Calvin does.  He is to QT3 as Turtle is to XBox 360.

Or perhaps he is to QT3 as QT3 is to PS3?  I just wish I could read a single thread over there about a PS3 game that doesn't denigrate into 'who cares about the game when we can discuss how much we all think the PS3 sucks?"

There's nothing preventing Microsoft and Nintendo from licensing Blu-Ray technology should they decide they want to include a Blu-Ray drive in their next console.

So basically for the next generation, for every game that the Sony and Microsoft and Nintendo sell, Sony will make money off of?  If that isn't genius then I don't know what is.  I can just picture them now "Please buy an Xbox 720! And make sure to buy lots of games too.  Especially the games! Why don't you get some Nintendo games while you're at it?"

Most people that owned an Xbox (original generation) owned it primarily to play Halo. With the attach rate being damn near 50% I have to wonder if the 360 may have peaked already. The promise of future and present Halo sold a LOT of consoles, but will it have staying power now that the big ticket games have shipped? Or does this really prove the Xbox is a "halo box" primarily once again.

The 360 has a much higher overall attach rate than either of the two competitors, which would seem to indicate it's anything but a "Halo box".

You're absolutely right.  There's also Rainbow 6:Vegas and COD 4 and UT3 and GRAW and GRAW 2 and FEAR and America's Army and Clive Barker and The Orange Box and Timeshift and Prey and COD3 and... (ad infinitum)  Oh wait! I think he meant "SHOOTER box"

Well how long has the DVD generation lasted? 12 years? Longer?  And it isn't going to end any time soon that's for sure.  Sony will make their money back eventually I'm sure.  As for "sacrificing" the the PS3...hasn't the PS3 sold just as many units in their first year as the 360 did in theirs?  I think the PS3 is going to make a big comeback-sure they won't be able to knock the Wii out but I think it will compete against the 360.  And come next generation the PS4 will have a blu-ray player installed as well-something neither the new Xbox or Nintendo console will have.  I know I bought my PS2 partly because of DVD capability.  I wonder how many people will do the same for the next generation.  Could it be that Sony have actually been geniuses all along?
4598  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Hi-Def War to end at CES 2008...? on: January 05, 2008, 04:28:57 AM
Well I think this is good news for everybody.  The sooner we decide a winner the better.  What's wrong with Blu-ray winning?  More power to them I say.  Of course, the 2 for 1 deals will probably quickly disappear.  But still, at least everybody will have a reason to pick up a PS3 then!  'It's for the movies' you can tell yourself smile

Actually I think Mass Effect was overhyped and underperformed.  Looking at this forum for the past 8 months, you'd think that the release of Mass Effect was going to be the second coming of Jesus.  But it only sold 1.6 million copies.  That's fantastic don't get me wrong.  But if you ask me, if you're going to hype yourself up with the big boys (GTA, Halo) then you'd better provide some big boy numbers as well.
