I'm in Japan. And yes, Japan has committed many crimes of snack flavor depravity but even here we have standards. No salad ice cream. Would anyone go for a cucumber pepsi?
122  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Anyone seen PeteRock recently? on: December 09, 2012, 07:44:39 AM
I saw on the news that one of the winners of the Powerball lottery is a man in his thirties who lives in Arizona and moved there with his wife from Pennsylvania. Doesn't that fit PeteRock pretty well? Is his life going to get even more fabulous?
123  Gaming / Portable Gaming & Apps / Re: Re: Nathan Drake makes a surprise return to Vita in December! on: December 08, 2012, 02:20:39 PM
Yes, no doubt. I just figured it out. How do you see what the bonus is? I can't read it when looking at the whole board but then when I zoom up on the card it doesn't show me the bonus (as far as I can see). I think I'm really warming up to this card game! I'm sure I'll play it more than either of the MTG games I bought on steam and it cost half as much!
124  Gaming / Portable Gaming & Apps / Re: Nathan Drake makes a surprise return to Vita in December! on: December 08, 2012, 06:00:05 AM
Yes I also saw that and I don't understand it either.
125  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Books Read 2012 Edition on: December 08, 2012, 01:51:40 AM
I finished up Drift by Rachel Maddow. Man that was a good book and surprisingly non-partisan.  The section on the nuclear stockpile was particularly scary.  The very idea that we are no longer technologically knowledgeable enough to create replacement parts for the nuclear weapons that our fathers or grandparents were able to make is especially frightening. Did nobody think it would be a good idea to write down instructions on how to do this kind of stuff before all the old guys died/retired?
126  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: See where every WWII bomb hit London on: December 08, 2012, 01:20:33 AM
Once I zoom in fairly close all the bombmarkers disappear and it seems to be continually updating or something. Site is getting hammered perhaps?
127  Gaming / Portable Gaming & Apps / Re: Re: Nathan Drake makes a surprise return to Vita in December! on: December 07, 2012, 04:06:18 PM
I see the game is getting solid 7 and 7.5s so far. Not bad for $5. Normally I would wait until it went on sale or free on PSNą but my Christmas vacation just started so I may jump on this.
128  Gaming / Portable Gaming & Apps / Re: Re: Nathan Drake makes a surprise return to Vita in December! on: December 07, 2012, 03:58:54 PM
So I'm playing through Uncharted on the Vita (which is friggen awesome by the way) and every time I find one of the treasures or take pictures of certain locations I'm rewarded with a card which I assume is for the new game. Has this always been in the game since the beginning or was the uncharted game updated to include this? Pretty cool I guess.
129  Non-Gaming / Trading Forum / 3 one month PSN trial codes $15 on: December 06, 2012, 11:30:47 AM
I picked up the latest Vita bundle deal from Amazon and got 3 one-month trial codes for PSN+. Unfortunately you need an account registered to a US credit card to use them which I don't have so I thought I would sell them off here.  They're a couple bucks cheaper than the regular 3 month deal with the added advantage that it gives you the flexibility to re-up whenever Sony offers a really great game give away but not need to pay for it during the lean months.  If anyone is interested let me know.
130  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [PS3] Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch on: December 06, 2012, 08:40:35 AM
I played through the demo and boy is it ever beautiful. I hadnt heard too much about this game so I didn't know what to expect exactly. I had no idea it was an RPG! Pretty interesting battle system where you have these pets that have spells and traits all of their own and you seem to be able to switch them in and out during the battle. I'm not a big RPGer like I used to be back in the Playstation days but it reminded me a lot of Final Fantasy 12 the way you can run around the place and make attacks on the enemy while others in your party are doing their own thing.  Pretty good potential!
131  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Re: ebay issue - buyer says it never arrived on: December 05, 2012, 11:55:08 PM
In the US do they just leave something sitting outside the door if you're not at home? In Japan, if it doesn't fit in the mailbox or is any kind of package then they'll leave a slip of paper with the details on how to arrange for them to come again and when they do you have to sign for the package.
132  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Re: [PC/iOS/Android] Baldur's Gate 1 & 2 Enhanced Editions on: December 04, 2012, 12:11:12 PM
It sounds like the PC version is not as good as the original with mods so it sounds right now like you might only want to buy it if you want to play it on the ipad.
133  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: I love sales on: November 29, 2012, 09:38:55 AM
I picked up Civ 5 Gods and Kings, Xcom EU and..thats it! Well, I did get that PS Vita bundle.
134  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Playstation Plus - Now with lots more free games! on: November 29, 2012, 09:37:07 AM
Well I hope we get something good! RE5 is good I suppose for a lot of people but I got around to trying it last week and boy, RE5 is not the Resident Evil I remember.  It's actually worse because while controlling your characters is still totally shitty, they've changed it so that you get attacked by hordes of zombies rather than one or two at a time.  No fun at all for me.
135  Non-Gaming / Trading Forum / Civ 5 $5 on: November 26, 2012, 08:39:57 AM
I was a goddamned idiot and bought Civ 5 off of Amazon when I meant to buy Civ 5 Gods and Kings. I've sent them an email to see if I can get it cancelled but if I can't then I'd be willing to sell it here for $5 and pay a $2.50 "stupid" tax to Amazon.
136  Gaming / Portable Gaming & Apps / Re: Re: PS Vita, Impressions! PSN+! Almost all Vita Owners have PS3! PS3 Bundle? on: November 25, 2012, 03:18:34 PM
Most games seem to max out at 1500mb at most. I suppose they means I should be able to keep 10 games on with a 16GB card. It's enough that I can have a variety of games and don't need to reload too often. 16GB seems like a decent compromise between space and value.
137  Gaming / Portable Gaming & Apps / Re: PS Vita, Impressions! PSN+! Almost all Vita Owners have PS3! PS3 Bundle? on: November 25, 2012, 11:06:40 AM
So Sony just practically gave the Vita away and only two of us seemed to have bought it? I managed to get it for about 17,000 yen and I'm planning on selling both games, the memory card and the plus codes for about 7,000 yen so hopefully in the end I'll have gotten a PS Vita for about 10,000 yen or $130 US smile
What is the appropriate memory card size to get. 4 GB is ridiculously small which is why I would like to sell it but 32 GB is pretty damned expensive for what you get. How big are the average PSN game sizes anyways? I'm thinking of full games, not the arcade games.
138  Gaming / Portable Gaming & Apps / Re: Nathan Drake makes a surprise return to Vita in December! on: November 25, 2012, 11:02:27 AM
It looks a lot like a Magic the Gathering type of game.  I would have preferred a card game in the style of Metal Gear Acid.  Still, it could be cool.  For $5 you can't go wrong.  I'lll probably wait a couple months and see if it shows up for free on PSN Plus and if it doesn't I'll buy it then.
139  Gaming / Portable Gaming & Apps / Re: PS Vita, Impressions! PSN+! Almost all Vita Owners have PS3! PS3 Bundle? on: November 23, 2012, 10:53:40 PM
Eddie A, I could kiss you!
I forgot to order Persona 4 Golden but what the hell-I can get it some other time. In Japan, just the basic WIFI PS Vita costs almost $300! I will never have as good a chance as this to get a cheap vita. I have never gotten a console so cheaply and started off with so many free games (6PSplus + 2 package + 1 free Motoracers game from a long time ago).

The Amazon Vita bundle has changed.  It's now starting at 3 PM Eastern US time on Friday and the bundle contains -
White Wi-Fi Vita
Assassin's Creed 3 : Liberation
4 GB Memory Card
Download code for Playstation All-Stars Battle Royale on Vita
3 Months of Playstation Plus
$10 gift card good towards XBox or PS3 version of AC3

All for $179.99 smile

I wasn't planning on getting a Vita anytime soon, but this is way too good a deal to pass up.
Oh god dammit. That's 2am my time.

If Vita goes on sale for $199 on Amazon for Black Friday I will buy it. I just found out that Amazon will actually sell to me even living in Japan and the thought of getting the Vita, a pack in game, a memory card, 6 free games from PSN+ and a potentially awesome game in Persona 4 will push me over the edge I think.

The lack of hype is very troubling.  I've never seen less hype for any console launch. I've no doubt that they'll sell out of all of their launch units before Christmas but I'm wondering what will happen in 2013.  Still, it's Nintendo. I'm smart enough not to bet against them.

She was just giving an opinion so obviously she's not racist! She'd only be a racist if she had said it as a fact! Anyways, for the rest of her life whenever a potential employer Googles her name its going to come up with a story of her calling the president the N-word. So it all works out in the end!

Its exactly the same as in job interviews - Obese people are less likely to be offered a job than if they were slim. There are several reasons for this, but mainly its because people in general think its the obese persons own fault that they are in the state they are, i.e. its a character flaw that is clearly visible. If you have two candidates, one with a visible character flaw, and one without, you will likely choose the one without.

And this is bullshit and discrimination when and if someone does such a thing.

You're right. Being fat is something your born with and as such it's completely out of their control.

Why should it matter thought?   What specifically about a person being overweight makes them somehow unfit to be president for some people?
Fat people are more likely to keel over and die? Most people like to think that a Presidential figure should somehow be better than themselves on every level and they don't want someone who looks like they spend their time eating bags of chips on the couch in front of the TV? Americans won't elect a president without nice hair-do you really think they're going to elect a fatty? Come on.

I would celebrate 420 but not by "potting up" as those in the know are calling it these days. I would celebrate knowing that a horrible period in our society has come to an end, where billions of dollars were was wasted on an immoral war and thousands of lives were ruined (disproportionately black) for partaking in an innocent activity no more harmful than drinking a few beers. The war on drugs makes Prohibition look like a brilliant idea. I say this as someone who has never smoked pot or indulged in any other illegal drugs in my whole life. Hopefully Washington and Colorado have started an inexorable shift towards a more free society. All it takes is one state. Two is a bonus.
