yup, first few hours fan here.  i think i played up until the lost souls started appearing and then dropped out of boredom and repetitiveness.  the player interface was pretty cool though.  no more 'E' to do stuff, just walk up, lower your gun and the mouse controlled your actions.  i wish this was standard in action fps games.

http://www.pspfanboy.com/2008/07/21/confirmed-resistance-retribution-is-awesome/

Since Ive never played a Resistance game I dont know if this one follows the story of another one or what. But the graphics do look great. Gives the Syphon Filter games a run for their money.

After seeing that mech type walker there in those shots Im wondering when a Mechwarrior game might come to the PSP. I think the Mechcommander ones would be a great fit.

sadly, i think the prospects for a proper mechwarrior game on an ms platform is pretty much nil, so you can imagine what chance a sony owned console has.

we mech fans have to make the best with knockoffs.

we could apply the same faulty logic she shows in this piece to other areas of our lives and make all sorts of crazy assed assumptions about damn near anything.  a 16 yo kid is not an expert on anything, except maybe free porn, leetspeek and the best way to call someone "fag", if live users are any indication.

what i love is that this kid, who loved gears of war, apparently forgot that the sequel is coming out in a few months.  maybe when he sees it in action he'll bounce back to the 360 and sell his ps3 and one game.

i will still love and treasure my 360 version, that one day i will go back to and finish

i know that a drop in quality was to be expected, but damn.  that's ps2 quality right there.  what is that, like 8 zombies on screen at once?  looks like a mod for the ps2 version of vice city.

they better nail the controls or this will be just as bad as wii far cry turned out to be.

they should have made this a side story involving a child surviving by hiding from the zombies and not a remake.  then they could have justified the limited # by forcing you into smaller areas.

9693  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: My last reason to keep the Wii: destroyed and pooped on on: July 18, 2008, 04:42:34 PM
this is the big N's weakness and part of why the first 18 months were so loaded with good games.  their strategy failed them last gen and they had to make up lost ground.  now that they have two bona fide money machines on their hands, they can pretty much coast from here on in.  unfortunately, my dedication to this console has dropped steadily since smg came out, and that's why it stands as my last satisfied 1st party game purchase (imo, wii fit doesn't fall into the game category).  mario kart was the first sign for me as it is damn near a carbon copy of the ds version.

i had great hopes for the wii, but we haven't had a good sign that N wants to keep the pace they set and release big name titles every quarter.  and they haven't even mentioned sequels to some of their other popular series like star fox or pikmin.  this ac game is sure to sell on name recognition alone and for all the people who missed it last time, but it comes off like a slap on the wrist to gc owners.

but then again, harvest moon has made a killing out of selling the same game every year with small tweaks to the core game, so perhaps N wants to follow suit.

Someone said that 80% of Americans are playing pirated games on the DS, which is a figure that cannot be correct, but that number would grow if this convenience were something so easy to come by here.  I would happily do that, too, BUT only for the games I already own.  That way I can cut down on the little baggies I take with the DS, and I might even play games that I'd forgotten about.

why i love a hacked psp so much.  games i would otherwise shelve and probably not play again get a second chance now and again.  i would do this for the ds in an instant but i hate buying this stuff online.

Just because they didn't announce anything at E3 doesn't necessarily mean they don't have anything in store.  On the other hand, that list they released feels a little final.

True, but I find it hard to imagine that they'll have something significant to release by Christmas and not already have announced it.

Quote from: The Grue on July 18, 2008, 03:37:11 PM

I keep hoping that they aren't showing something fantastic, but I don't hold out hope for it.

This E3 felt like the Japanese companies were sending a message that this hampered E3 was dead.  Granted, there's not a big time frame left for announcing stuff for Christmas, and I don't know what other events might be coming up, if any (maybe they're trying to highjack Comicon), but part of the reason this seems like the time to make announcements is because that's the way it's been.

Don't get me wrong.  I suspect that there's not a lot more coming, but that's the hope I'm holding out.

i really hope so because otherwise this e3 was one big thing followed with a bunch of little droppings.

so, this is tied to an obscure 80's toy line?  bizarre.

now, where's my transformers rpg?

official site has info about the units and what you expect regarding weapons and such.  ally support attacks are possible and also play into rare equipment drops.  basically, your scan of an enemy increases your accuracy and damage and is based on the number of your units with LoS.

other comparisons to fm3 are present (pilot class and experience, weapons restricted to pilot class and vary in power/weight by zoid type)  nothing about unit customization though beyond weapon installation.  also, according to one of the posters on atlus' site, it may be a short game ~14 missions of not epic length.  achievement list is very sparse and does the "few achievements with big score values" thing ala fight night round 3.  not much to go on.

from what i have seen, i'll probably like this but may not end up buying it.  a rental may be just enough to play through it.

It's undoubtedly a blow to Sony but after GTA4 utterly failed to moved hardware for either MS or Sony, I think the system-selling capacity of any single title is relatively low.

And based on how Sony didn't actually give any sales figures for MGS4 (despite bringing it up almost every other sentence), it seems that there's no such thing as 'games that move hardware' anymore.

And absolutely perfect comic for PA.

I'd have to say that GTA4 would have moved hardware only if it was exclusive. Since that's not the case, it wasn't drawing new people in.

you have to wonder how many people bought the hardware for it before they announced the delay in '07.

i qualify under that category in a small part.  360 elite bought at launch "for" mass effect, gta4, and mercs 2.  of course, i have had a S-ton of fun with it and a pretty good catalog of games to play now, so it's not just for those three games.  it was a big reason to get one though.  same with a friend of mine.  he held out until the falcon released.
