haven't watched the clip, but i did once have a ricochet from a bee bee gun hit me square in the forehead after shooting at a ground target.  i actually saw the cap as it came at me.  one of my more vivid memories and proof to the "you'll shoot your eye out" lore.  luckily, not only was i wearing glasses, but it was no where near my eyes when it hit me.

no surprise, but i get uneasy when looking at any thing metal at eye level (forklift hooks, flat bed trucks on the highway)

bad name either way.

golytely is a trade name for a laxative and sounds exactly the same as the name.  if this person works in the health care industry, expect a lot of jokes at his expense.

as persona 3 fes is still in the shrinkwrap, i will not be getting p4.  my honeymoon with jrpg's is over.

I'm in the same boat, but I haven't given up entirely on JRPGs.  Slogging through DQ4 is wearing me down a little.

damn, what are we, the same person?  i am about halfway through chapter 2 of dq4.  i hope it keeps my attention the way dq8 didn't.

one extra thing which i would consider for small calls.  get familiar with the single-click features of vnc.  it allows you to have client initiated remote control sessions which do not require client installation or configuration.  it takes a little time to set up, but it can save you from both the hassle of vague phone call support and the inevitable "can you just come over and look at it?" and the trouble it takes to have them drop it off
9693  Non-Gaming / Political / Religious Nonsense / Illinois vs. BoA. Fight! on: December 09, 2008, 12:06:08 AM
ok, so there's this little business (Republic ) in IL which just happens to bank (or used to anyways) with BoA.  BoA dropped their credit line, preventing Republic from paying out pay or severance packages.

their response?   get IL governor to mandate all state agencies cease doing business with BoA on the basis of the gov't bailout.

post article

this raises an interesting question which is:

should any financial institution be forced to extend credit to a company when that company is having difficulties staying afloat?  should a bank recently under strain act with a higher standard for lending to at-risk entities?

had something to do other than be a glorified dvd player.
had shipped with the ds3, trophies, home, and better online functionality at the same price as the 360.
allowed you to use the keyboard/mouse for games.

had a cheaper 3rd party wireless headset or a price drop on the ms version.  $60 is too much when i have two of the wired ones right now.
allowed you to use a usb headset with mic for both music/voice.
9702  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Finish the sentence: I wish that the Wii... on: December 08, 2008, 07:37:27 PM
had something on the horizon that wasn't;

a barely improved sequel to one of the established 1st party games.
a barely improved release of a gamecube 1st party game.
a badly implemented port of a 360 game.
a badly implemented port of a ps2 game.
a cheaply developed movie tie-in.
based on using a 1st party peripheral that will likely go dormant after less than 5 games implement it (only 2 of which use it well)

is it not possible to join a friend's game when it hits the finale?  i wanted to get in with your game the other night SL, but despite having an opening, it wouldn't let me.  i ended up playing through the last 3 parts of blood harvest with some strangers.  good group that stuck together through the end and we did very well, despite having a rather bad turn of luck after radioing for help.  we finally just made the run after the apc showed up and all got out in one piece.

if it's any consolation warning, i haven't played any of the others except LO either.  and that one i only got the barest exposure to.  not sure why, but my tastes in console jrpg's is dropping off and has been for a while, and that's evident in my ps2 unplayed catalog.  star ocean 3 and rogue galaxy, and ff12 to a lesser extent did not grab me the way they used to.
9707  Non-Gaming / Trading Forum / Re: LF pc case on: December 06, 2008, 07:32:35 PM
i would need to check, but the case i have is one of the lighter build variety, so if laner's is too heavy and drives the shipping up, lmk.  it's still in pretty decent shape, but it's a unknown brand, so a good thing the power supply isn't needed.

there were at least two that i read from s.m. sterling which took place between 2 and 3 and in some ways, reminds me of the SCC, and seemingly influenced both it and t3.  not bad reads either.

as for t3's continuity, it (and t2 to a lesser extent) changed the fundamental approach skynet took to combatants (t-1000, t-1001) and all of the little HK's instead of jets and hurking tanks.

the future in t1 and going into t2 put skynet's forces into an western style army with infantry, heavy armor and air superiority against human's guerrilla warfare and light vehicles.

9714  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Terminator: Salvation First Look on: December 05, 2008, 09:12:41 PM
well, it's supposedly set in 2018, or 11 years before the events portrayed in t1 and 2's future, supposedly before the t-800 human models, so maybe they haven't uncorked him yet.  the wiki entry does mention the plot revolves around the t-101 (a early model of the endoskeleton terminator, i believe) so it's still possible though that he'll have a scene as a prototype or something.

nevermind what the last film did the continuity.  not sure how they are going to deal with that myself.

btw, be careful what you read on the wiki site or elsewhere, it has what would have been a pretty cool revelation spoiled in the first paragraph of the wiki entry.

btw, if you do want more details on the t-800 and arnie's involvement, the wiki is a good source.  just don't berate me if you feel spoiled afterwards.

nm on the 101.  that's the model of the 800 with skin.

great little fan vid to get excited about and pretty well put together.
