I've got two, but no way to get more. Would love to bum two from you Teggy.

If they can get the same writing quality as the first and the 3D in the same league as Avatar, I'll be glad to spend the extra bucks to rent the glasses. Just don't skimp on the cinematography. That kind of crap can put a dent in how well 3D movies are respected.

You don't have to look at the gps while you are driving unless you need a quick update on distance to next turn. An AR HUD app is something that you should be watching a lot more often.

Great game. I go back to this on occasion just to finish up another level now and again.
8407  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: What are you buying this week? (04/19) on: April 20, 2010, 02:14:20 AM
Myto, you should play it now. I just got back into it with the armory and I'll be getting the zombie one tonight.

I'll join up with you for the zombie island.
8408  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Let's talk Iphone on: April 19, 2010, 11:35:53 PM
yeah, i remember the post they did to try getting their hands on the ipad.  perhaps apple thought it would be a good option after all and decided to make some good coin as well as get free 'exclusive, FIRST!!!' coverage on giz.

meanwhile, i really hope this ties in with a 4g model, but that's got to be next year's lure i guess.  still, happy to have this new version to upgrade as the 3g is a shade underpowered with newer apps/games.

i really really really want this to have better cell reception.  i've dropped more calls with the iphone on 3g at 4 and 5 bars than i ever did with the old phone at 2 or 3 bars.  it's just pathetic and why i've since set the phone to use edge only.  yay at&t.  i'd gladly move to another carrier if it was cost-effective.

I fell back into the addiction of Borderlands now that I've picked up the armory dlc and plan do so with the zombie island once it goes on sale later this week.

I do need to get back to sc:c and finish it up before long.

Is this the same thing as crash time 2?  I ended up with a copy after the end of year steam sales, but haven't tried it out.

I officially have the 18th off for this.  Last time I took a day off for a game (ME2) a relative turned up dead.

second times a coincidence, right?

Is that a lament or a request for services?

he can't say anything on a public board. Best use code speak

"the king of Burger desires a scary clown to stain the colonel's floor on Marc Antony's birthday"

that is all.

I really want to be sick on the 18th, but they'd just call me anyways.

8417  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Red Faction : Guerilla on: April 15, 2010, 02:55:37 AM
Almost. I have a decent system from '06 that runs most everything now a decent quality (stalker:cop ran pretty well, as did arma 2 and opflash 2) but needed to drop the quality down to get playable frame rates. It lags down during heavy physics processing. And shadows are off as they look horribly broken.
8418  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: I'm looking for a game. Help! on: April 15, 2010, 02:46:27 AM
It's a shame that both iron lore and ascaron imploded after their games. I enjoyed all of their games.

Avoid space siege but consider dungeon siege 2. It was a great clone IMO and full co-op.

I would also recommend sacred 2 on the pc. Epic game and lots of viable character builds.

8420  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Splinter Cell: Conviction on: April 15, 2010, 02:19:55 AM
Agreed.  Chaos theory is the best of the bunch. Fun gadgets and stealth, multiple approaches without being overwhelming and great dialogue from the guards. I'd go back and play it, but the pc version and it's horrible drm (hmm, that's ironic) don't play well on 64 bit windows 7 I hear.

Just got this in the mail today. As luck has it, I got drafted into a remote support session tonight. Blech!

I heard the can't move bodies thing was a time issue- they wanted to do it but didn't have the opportunity.
I'm not sure whether that is more funny or sad that in a game that took this long to develop they still couldn't find time to add it in.

It will be ironic if ubi Montreal's efforts here end up making us look fondly on DA as the last 'true' sc.

8424  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Just Cause 2 on: April 12, 2010, 02:00:47 PM
There isn't even an achievement for 100% either. It's 75%. Much more doable, especially considering how much is pointed out on the map. The difficulty and 104 cars are a bit of a pita, but not impossible though. The creative kills are fun and a good reminder that if you just go toe to toe, you are missing out.

8426  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Just Cause 2 on: April 11, 2010, 05:17:54 PM
no doubt i've missed a few of the transformers, probably just recently.  while it's annoying to have that last chunk left, i wouldn't worry too much.  there are what, 300+ locations and you only need to get 100 for the achievement, unless you count the big 100%.  i've granted that i will probably never get that one due to the skydiving challenges any way, so i'm not killing time looking.

if you want to boost that # to 100 locations, look for the seaside villages.  i've found several which have only 1 or 2 items to pick up.

in general, i'll paraglide over the village and wait for the light to go off.  works pretty well and you don't have to keep running around buildings to do it.
8427  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Weekend Playlist - 4/09/10 on: April 11, 2010, 05:10:21 PM
ended up playing more borderlands than anything else.  god that game is fun.  i'll keep the rental until the zombie island dlc goes on sale later this month and decide whether to pick up the armory.  ms was kind to give me a 400 point code in the email, so i'm thinking about breaking my rule regarding games with multiple dlcs and just getting them instead of a gold version.

played all of 5 minutes with bc2 and ended up playing blur instead.  a lot more fun than i usually get from racers and makes me curious about picking it up down the road.

a little more jc2 to fill out the need for destruction.

not sure what i'll play today/tonight yet.
8428  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Splinter Cell: Conviction on: April 11, 2010, 05:04:42 PM
that bit about swapping out sam for 'generic action d00d' is what sealed it for me.  the 5 hour mark nailed the box shut.  i always enjoyed the methodical 'high-tech thief' aspect to splinter cell and after the action levels of DA, i realized how much a break from the previous games it was and did not enjoy it.  stalking around while waiting for the perfect moment to strike was what i loved about the third one.  chaos theory was the game which turned me from being a mgs stealther to a splinter cell stealther.  it's a bit disappointing that ubi montreal is behind this one as that makes it even less likely to return to its roots.

taking the stealth aspects out of sc is like making a gta game into a canyon linear shooter without drivable vehicles.  could be fun, but it's not gta.

far cry 2 is the only game i know to take the original formula and tweak it that worked.  and even then, it was still a fps.  i don't see it as a sequel in any sense though, just a fun shooter with a cashed-in name.

Not sure where you'll be able to find a manual in paper form unless you buy it new. I'd recommend going to another gamestop and buying another copy. Return your used copy before the seventh day and you'll be all set.

That said, it didn't seem like an overly complex rts and there was a tutorial section in the demo.
8432  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: The Saboteur on: April 11, 2010, 03:44:39 AM
It's strengths outweigh it's faults IMO, and it really makes me annoyed with EA that we won't get to see where pandemic was headed. It's a great evolution and a much better game than how it was reviewed. They deserved better treatment than they were given.

Also single dad this weekend, so I would like to get time with bc2 mp. Taking a small break from just cause to play borderlands and wither darksiders or deadly premonition.

I want to drop my backlog down a few notches, but it's been a bad season to do that. Too many games, too many sales.

Interested to see what they do with the story and how they'll open up the levels.

They need to tweak the team balancing;  last night there were three of us with four unknowns against four. After a solid beat-down the rest of our team left while they ended up at nine. We held on but there is only so much you can do in that situation. When I left on the next round, it was 9 against 2 before I bailed.
