I'll be getting all of the PS+ Stuff. Which this month equals a lot of games that I will actually play.

Same here.   Alien will probably be a buy some time down the road, but I'm still in the middle of Mordor.

My 3 systems in most use this year are the PC, PS4 and Vita,  with the PS3 getting a small amount here and there. Were it possible to get playtime from  a Sony console, I could find out how big the split is, but I've had a good amount of games on all systems.

The RNG could definitely throw a wrench in your works, that's for sure.  Getting a veteran or elite captain in the middle of a mission can really screw up your plans.  Same with getting an outpost into an alarmed state.  I've found that the best way to get clear of a large mob is to get up on to one of their buildings.  seems they can't look up too high.

well, Saturday is completely wiped out due to a birthday party, so I won't get as much time with Mordor as I would like.  I am drifting away from Destiny, but I need to give it a little time before I decide whether to pull the plug on it.

I find it really amusing (and sad) that Dynasty Warriors has a higher Metacritic score than Planetary Annihilation.
ha.  I think 70 is the baseline for any DW game and only modified up or down based on how many new characters are added/old ones removed.
93  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [PC/XB1/360/Ps3/Ps4] Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor on: October 02, 2014, 06:24:44 PM
I spent a good long time with this yesterday, due in thanks to a bad reaction from a flu shot.  Had a ton of good luck early on with several captains taken out and half of the board cleared.  Then I got ambushed by a captain after fleeing from a botched attempt on another.  My death let 5 Uruks get promoted and power up.  It took quite a lot of work to empty them out again, so I went after the next Ratbag mission and got the option to start targeting warchiefs.  I have now taken out 4 of them and am working on getting the rest of the skill sets opened up.

This is probably going to be my GotY based on how much of an impact the Nemesis system has improved the game.  Just like how the Batman games improved upon AC's combat and world building, this improves on making your enemies feel like real characters.

Ground based RTS where Humans are literally the harvested resource.

This one is looking for 1.4 mil and features a giant robot race fighting Cthulu, pretty much.  There is also a lot of destruction going on, with buildings used as weapons, and land carved up and fed to your god.

Gorgeous game on the PS4 - what little I got to play. After the opening chapter I was stuck a screen that said "Downloading - 45 minutes remaining." This was after the game had downloaded. Will this happen with every freaking level for the digital edition?

No, it won't. You didn't fully download the game before playing, but had you waited a bit, you wouldn't have had to see that screen you're describing. Almost all PS4-games support playing before the download is fully finished, and the download bar on the main UI only shows how much you need to reach the ability to start the game. You can find the actual download size and progress in the console's settings menu.

The bar was finished as in 100%. I don't know what was going on but it played great last night.

As I said, the bar only shows what you need to start the game. If the game isn't fully downloaded (which has nothing to do with the bar), you'll eventually reach a loading screen while waiting for the rest to finish downloading. It's like this for pretty much every PS4-game out there.
It sounds like my experience playing Second Son, digital download.  The game let me start it and play up through the intro and opening area (the 520 bridge sequence) then stopped and went to a loading screen.

I'm going to guess that you hadn't downloaded it prior to release?  I know when I pre-ordered it, it wasn't available to stream until the 28th, then I had to set up the download manually.  Not sure why they can't add an option to auto-start the download on a pre-purchase.

I had a great run with the game yesterday.  Right after I started, I ran into a gang of captains and took out two of them.  The combat is very smooth and I love the little changes they made like the instant executions and saving moves when you get knocked down.  Like others have said, the game does a great job of balancing a bad-ass with vulnerability.  The sneaking mechanic is a huge improvement over AC3/4 and proof that only contextual sneaking isn't enough.  I love that a random death to a nobody also has consequences.  Worst death I suffered was just after a failed attack on a captain.  I jumped down from the spectral tower, saw one of those beasts attacking a small group of Uruks.  I watched from above and laughed at their plight, thinking I could jump down afterwards and dominate the creature.  Nope.  It saw me, jumped up to my hill and proceeded to tear me a new one.  I had no place to move around and couldn't escape.

I watched this the other night and am quite frankly amazed it got greenlit for a full season.  Bad plot, terrible stereotyped characters, unrealistic and illogical character actions, gratuitous nudity and swearing and a hook that fails to do what every great mystery show does.  Hint to Chris Carter:  the reveal of the big mystery should not be used in the opening episode so blatantly.

I've quit watching better shows than this.

The world is indeed full of peril and in it there are many dark places.  In to this world goes our tortured soul Talion, a weapon forged from death and vengeance.

This week sees the release of one of the surprise hits of the year.  We also see the next iteration of an XBox racing series and another in the long line of Sherlock Holmes games.  We also get the newest menace to portable hardware, Smash Bros.  This also seems the unoffical start of the gaming onslaught season.  So, what are you buying this week?
