Gorgeous game on the PS4 - what little I got to play. After the opening chapter I was stuck a screen that said "Downloading - 45 minutes remaining." This was after the game had downloaded. Will this happen with every freaking level for the digital edition?

No, it won't. You didn't fully download the game before playing, but had you waited a bit, you wouldn't have had to see that screen you're describing. Almost all PS4-games support playing before the download is fully finished, and the download bar on the main UI only shows how much you need to reach the ability to start the game. You can find the actual download size and progress in the console's settings menu.

The bar was finished as in 100%. I don't know what was going on but it played great last night.

As I said, the bar only shows what you need to start the game. If the game isn't fully downloaded (which has nothing to do with the bar), you'll eventually reach a loading screen while waiting for the rest to finish downloading. It's like this for pretty much every PS4-game out there.
It sounds like my experience playing Second Son, digital download.  The game let me start it and play up through the intro and opening area (the 520 bridge sequence) then stopped and went to a loading screen.

I'm going to guess that you hadn't downloaded it prior to release?  I know when I pre-ordered it, it wasn't available to stream until the 28th, then I had to set up the download manually.  Not sure why they can't add an option to auto-start the download on a pre-purchase.

I had a great run with the game yesterday.  Right after I started, I ran into a gang of captains and took out two of them.  The combat is very smooth and I love the little changes they made like the instant executions and saving moves when you get knocked down.  Like others have said, the game does a great job of balancing a bad-ass with vulnerability.  The sneaking mechanic is a huge improvement over AC3/4 and proof that only contextual sneaking isn't enough.  I love that a random death to a nobody also has consequences.  Worst death I suffered was just after a failed attack on a captain.  I jumped down from the spectral tower, saw one of those beasts attacking a small group of Uruks.  I watched from above and laughed at their plight, thinking I could jump down afterwards and dominate the creature.  Nope.  It saw me, jumped up to my hill and proceeded to tear me a new one.  I had no place to move around and couldn't escape.

I watched this the other night and am quite frankly amazed it got greenlit for a full season.  Bad plot, terrible stereotyped characters, unrealistic and illogical character actions, gratuitous nudity and swearing and a hook that fails to do what every great mystery show does.  Hint to Chris Carter:  the reveal of the big mystery should not be used in the opening episode so blatantly.

I've quit watching better shows than this.

The world is indeed full of peril and in it there are many dark places.  In to this world goes our tortured soul Talion, a weapon forged from death and vengeance.

This week sees the release of one of the surprise hits of the year.  We also see the next iteration of an XBox racing series and another in the long line of Sherlock Holmes games.  We also get the newest menace to portable hardware, Smash Bros.  This also seems the unoffical start of the gaming onslaught season.  So, what are you buying this week?

Love this part about the nemesis system.

Quote
It may seem like the nemesis system only applies to a small fraction of the enemies you're fighting, but it's actually silently working in the background for everyone. In one losing battle, a previously unnamed archer picked me off from afar. The honor of such a great kill propelled him from his soldier's position into a new rank as captain, where he continued taunting me for hours to come.

Ok, I was on the fence to buying this on disc or digitally, but now, I'm going digital.  Having it pre-loaded will be great, plus being able to play it at any time remotely will be a benefit this time, considering how much replay value you could get out of it as opposed to a game like Infamous.
