Polygon has such a pro-MS slant that I'm not surprised about this article in the least.  Also, when he makes an argument about the size of the lost market, he completely over-estimates the number of dual-console owners and willfully ignores the actual number of console sales.  Might as well be making up how much each copy SE stands to earn as well.  The whole article reads like a what-if post on gaf.

Ok, bought, configured my x52 and played about an hour or so.  mostly tooling around in the scenarios and a quick dock in solo mode to the closest station.  I'm getting the hang of the controls and have a decent mapping (I hope).

Now, I just need time to get in and take some quick missions, work up to the next ship that hopefully doesn't look like an 80's sci-fi design.  Love the flight model and the environment details look pretty slick.

feel free to add me as 'Kasei Vallis' in the game

I think I'll be picking this up today.  The gameplay videos all look very good to me and I love the engine that they've built.

No, that's just business.

Extortion means a threat of violence.

well, technically, it depends on your definition of threats, which isn't strictly of a physical nature.

the practice of obtaining something, especially money, through force or threats.

in any case, it's not a business practice that I appreciate being used.

Spoils

Season 5 was easily the best season of the show's run. Can't imagine having had to wait a week between episodes.

I'm not a BB nuthugger as I think the first two seasons were pretty mediocre. However, when Gus came on the scene things really started picking up.

More spoilsies

Did you know that the Gus character wasn't even part of the original plan?  Tuco was supposed to be the main bad guy for a longer stretch, but the actor had to leave the show because of a conflict with other stuff he was filming.  They invented Gus to be a bad guy as opposite to Tuco's personality as possible, and they liked him so much they kept the character going.
Amazing, but it was for the best.  Tuco was the early crazy guy that you deal with, but you know you can never trust him.  Gus was this business man who you went in thinking you could handle in a conflict, only to reveal how much you under estimated him.  Best bad guy in a long time.

yeah, it's a bit hit or miss too from the steam reviews.  Polygon had an interesting article about it

Yes  64%
No   36%

beyond that, it screams 'indie bundle' and I'd expect it will be in one of them eventually.

I still don't see a problem with it. Microsoft saw an opportunity to make money and they took that opportunity. They're a business, and they have a responsibility to their shareholders to make money.

Now if the circumstance upsets me, I agree then I have a right to vote with my wallet. And that's all well and good. But I'm not going to get upset at Microsoft for taking advantage of a way to make money. They don't owe me anything.

I mean, we're not talking about Microsoft taking food away from my kids or polluting the environment. They're making me wait a year to play a particular game I want to play (among dozens of other games). Boo hoo. I'm sure the starving kids in Ethiopia or the Iraq kids getting slaughtered by ISIS are just in tears over my terrible first world predicament.

Godwin would agree with you.  Nothing like a little perspective to destroy an argument's validity.

It amounts to bribery or extortion, depending on who's doing the offering.  "give me money and I'll change who gets the product and when."  This isn't footing the bill for development or covering of costs of DLC.  It's a bait and switch with us as the pawn.  It would be no better if Sony had paid the cash to keep it console exclusive.  This isn't a business tactic that should be rewarded in any way.

Changes nothing.  They burned their bridge with me.  I'm ok with timed dlc exclusivity as they are after market gains and it isn't any different when both sides do it.  Taking an expected sequel, announcing it as multi-platform at launch, then holding back one version because one side wants to play first? That's a bullshit tactic and I intend to speak against it in the only way I have.  I'm not buying their games and I have responded to them over twitter to let them know it's due to this decision.
100  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: on: August 12, 2014, 11:59:54 PM
Personally, it's because I'm not a fan of Demons Souls, whereas I was a fan of TR and actively looking forward to the sequel. See prior irritation at Stealth Inc. 2, PvZ2, and Dead Rising 3 and not Bayonetta 2 or Sunset Overdrive.

Robin, you will be missed.  you were unique and even when you weren't at your best form, you were at least unexpected.

I love the Vita, but Sony either needs to step up 1st party support (and get some devs to make legitimate 3rd party games) or just admit that it's a glorified PS4 remote controller with the occasional PSN cross-buy release.
103  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Gamescom 2014 on: August 12, 2014, 07:28:04 PM
Well, that's one big FU to every fan of TR who did't anticipate a stupid ass exclusivity agreement.  SE/MS can DiaF for all I care.

Exclusive content in a multi-plat game franchise is one thing.  selling out 2 of your platforms for 1 is an insult to anyone who bought your game and was looking forward to the sequel.

I am not going to buy any of their games.

I think its the big publisher bias as Ubisoft is also falling into this dislike category.   Like it or now these publisher are in it to make money and as long as people keep buying annualized games then genre will never be pushed.  It's the reason why the Indie scene gets so much love.  They can and will take chances.

At least Ubisoft is embracing the indie scene with Ubisoft Montpellier.
Ubisoft has the hatred from its early DRM stance and the technical failings it had, a long history of poor pc ports (Watch Dogs) and an increasing number of yearly sequels seen as being poor in quality compared to the previous year.  (AC Rev, AC3).

Personally, I enjoy Ubisoft's efforts more, but as they concentrate more on deep single player games than FPS MP games, I am willing to give them a chance at least.
110  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Why all the hate toward Activision? on: August 11, 2014, 04:59:41 PM
With CoD, they drove the model of charging $15 for map packs, the yearly release of glorified expansions disguised as new sequels, and their actions led to the dilution of quality and eventual break-up of Infinity Ward.  They only seem to be interested in releasing sure fire hits and take little to no risk on new IPs.

And their president has been a complete dick throughout his time there.

I'd agree with everyone else, sounds like #2 is the clear choice.  100 feet away from a train track would be enough to scare me away even if it were a mansion.

As others have said, the internals can always be upgraded/changed/adapted, but you can't change the physical location.
Trust me, stay away from any house near the tracks.  The constant vibration from the trains is something you should avoid.

You've graduated from hot dogs to bratwurst.  Johnsonville on the grill, get some hoagie rolls and some ketchup.  That's all you need.

Or Italian sausage. Hot dogs are for children.

The only way I can imagine eating a hot dog nowadays is the way I used to like them when I was young: Burned black on a stick in a campfire. In the dark. Half starved and drunk.
not sure how I managed to mis-spell mustard though.
