there has been a few community patches since the last official one, so at least the game isn't completely wrecked any more.

haven't played it in a while, but at $2, it might be worth a spin again.

splitting my time between 2 of the 3 games from gamestop's last b2g1f deal.  banjo: nuts and bolts is pretty simple and has some annoying issues, but i am enjoying the change of pace and the challenge of getting around the hub world's limitations.  i spent an hour just picking up crates and finding new ways to climb up buildings and over obstacles designed to keep you out until getting better wheels.  wheels which you can get through normal play within an hour.  the vehicle building is kind of fun at first, but as i found, the designs don't really matter that much so you don't get a huge improvement from making aerodynamic designs.

also playing sacred 2 again and looking to finish up with the light sided campaign and the angel chick.

kotaku reports that apparently reggie fils-aime answered "next year" when jimmy fallon asked when it would be out.

take that however you want as their hasn't been an official date yet.  i stand by my earlier guess about japan-nov/dec 2010, US/Europe-march 2011

seeing as he actually answered with something, i wish jimmy had asked him about price.  might have got a ballpark figure or at least an intended ballpark.  hoping they release it ala apple;  drop the prices of the two current models and put the 3ds into the highest current bracket.

Afaik, it's possible to gift overseas as I think Victoria Ravenna has done that before from US to Indonesia?

I'd be willing to do that for you if you want.

might pick up gta episodes but i am pretty sure my pc will dog out on it.  it's odd, but i saw the same thing on the clearance shelf this week for $20.  almost grabbed it then, but decided to wait.

Also grabbed Twin Sector for under 4 bucks.

really?  a 49 on metacritic makes me question even 4 bucks worth of a gamble.  is there something about this i don't know?

very tempted on bioshock 2 to go along with the five buck bioshock 1 i got in the winter sale.

overlord 1 and 2 for 4.50 is a damn steal though.

I do think the TIV of the bigger drive is a bit low, especially when the smaller drive is only 10 bux less. Nevermnd the inital cost. But considering how low you could expect to sell a system and how long you'd have to wait, it's a trade-off I can accept.

I am going to do this with my 2nd system; it's over the warranty and has frozen up several times. All it's missing is the rrod.

RE the transfer;  are there any game saves which cannot be moved for some reason?  I remember some which wouldn't let you move them via the mem card.

good price point. Congrats to MS.

and there goes the slimmest chance I'd be buying one of these. For $150, it better get supported in useful ways by every game. I'm not paying 75% of a wii to play sports games and "upgrade" to wonky interface and menu controls.
7336  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Crackdown 2 on: June 18, 2010, 04:23:13 PM
sounds about right and not a bad idea if you ask me.  at least they want something to carry over from the demo.  it's kind of what capcom is doing with the dead rising 2 prequel.

either way, i'll be playing the demo until the full game comes out and buying/renting it anyways.
7337  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: XBOX Kinect on: June 18, 2010, 04:21:13 PM
especially when the install base that could use it may end up very small.  unless MS throws money at them to support it, it will get used in a handful of top games and ignored by the rest.  stall on launch.

Not interested in the sale, but I'm having a lot of fun imagining the riveting gameplay opportunities in Skyscraper Simulator.  Finally: a simulator for people who thought barges and tugboats were just too dang action-packed!

-Autistic Angel

and if you are afraid of heights, there's always road works simulator

and when you get tired of making buildings, now you can tear them down.  this might have been fun if it included the red faction engine.

they do have a variety of games which emulate real life work if you get bored playing space marines.
7341  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Cop punches girl on video on: June 17, 2010, 06:52:14 PM
go go local news.

local station article that doesn't require you to log in.

the woman in red should have kept her distance.  you do not interfere with a cop while he's arresting someone.

i would like to see the lead up to the screaming though.  it would help to know who first started the whole thing.

the scene was pretty damn close to blowing up and getting someone hurt even worse.  towards the end you hear someone yell "let's smash him".

Quote from: denoginizer on June 17, 2010, 06:47:33 PM

I just don't understand what goes through peoples' minds.  Why would someone react that way to a Police officer giving them a jaywalking ticket?  Even if you think the officer is in the wrong, acting like that is only going to make the situation worse.  I would never say that any woman deserves to get punched in the face.  But people need to exhibit at least a basic level of respect for authority.

yeah, she turned a ticket into an arrest.  should have just STFU and dealt with it like an adult.

Also some word about the whole canned morality system in Infamous 1 being overhauled for 2, but no specifics.

hopefully it's more memorable, because I forgot all about it until now.

as long as they let you play as bad cole and go all grey and sith like i'll be happy.

canned morality is how the choices were always full good or bad and not in between.  if you swapped back and forth, you would end up not getting the higher powers due to not being far enough to the good/evil side.

For some reason, Darth Vader doesn't do the job himself but leaves it to a bunch of cannon fodder lackeys who can't hit the side of a barn with a howitzer. Pouty boy gets ANGRY and KILLS EVERYBODY!" Sorry, but even if you want to tell a Dark Side story, that sounds thin.  icon_neutral Although come to think of it, that DOES sound like one of the last SW movies.  smirk

it's all part of Vader's plan, he gets Starkiller to go up against the clones to get the strongest of the bunch to try and take on the Emperor.

yup, and from a storytelling standpoint, it should be pretty obvious to the character that it's a set up from the get go.  if vader wanted him dead, all he had to was lop his head off with a lightsaber.  i men hell, he was chained down and everything.

sad but true.  2.0 was such a fun game at the time.  agree on the system shock comparison.

true, but the pc is a lot more open to niche genres.  i have a whole backlog of games that would never see the light of day on a console.
7350  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: 360 slim pics? on: June 16, 2010, 06:35:50 PM
i had the tray scratch up a game once and you can line up the mark with a part of the tray lining pretty easily.  it can happen a lot easier than you think too.  i went to turn the system off, stepped on a kids toy and pushed the side of the xbox instead.  nice scuffing sounds were emitted and the game was unplayable from then on.  i took it to a gamecrazy and they resurfaced the disc.  the line was still there, somewhat faded out and the game worked fine.
7351  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Questions on modding a fat PSP on: June 16, 2010, 06:32:04 PM
i haven't dusted off the psp in over a year so all of my info is out-of-date.

you are off to a good start though.

to answer what i know, you should be ok with most older games and custom firmware.  i haven't kept my CFW updated so i have no idea how current the version is or what the official version is up to either.  i do know that the version you are on is/was somewhat tricky and not easily modded from before pandora.

it's definitely an improvement for running off the memstick.  that and not having to carry around a bunch of umd's was the #1 reason i modded.

as for copying umd to the stick, it was dirt simple with the CFW i used.  it had a menu setting which set the usb to either the stick or the umd.  you simply plugged it in the pc and it showed up as a file.  copy out and back to the stick and you were golden.  iirc, there was a homebrew which allowed you to copy to stick without a pc, but i never used it.
7352  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [E3 2010] - Official Gaming Trend Coverage Begins on: June 16, 2010, 06:25:57 PM
the closest that a main stream rts has come to getting regular xbox players in was halo wars and that didn't take off.  there have been others but there's no way rts is going to be more than a niche genre on a console.
