I have started to die a lot more in firefights due to overwhelming numbers and bum-rushing enemies. I hate chapter 14 right now, enough to turn off he game in anger.  First a fight against a bunch of Tommy gun wielding thugs, then his boss who has both the height advantage and molotov cocktail throwing buddies and no way to flank him, all without a save in between nor backup. Then, you get the worst sequence of events in the game. Then, when you finish playing fed ex boy, you get one massive battle after another with a friend who keeps trying to kill enemies across the room with a shotgun.  Not the strongest chapter IMHO even after the cool start they had.

Almost done with it.

Finishing up darkstar one to clear the spot in my gamefly queue and continuing the story in mafia 2.

If I hit up the pc for gaming, I plan on splitting time between SC2 and DoW2.

I beat darkstar one (the game, ceekay. Keep your mind clean. :p). Wow, what a drag the last achievement would be to go after; not sure I'll bother with it. Got really close to beating mafia 2 and had chapter 14 not been designed like a triathalon, I would have beat it already. Got a little further in DoW2's campaign and played a few rounds of last stand with autisticAngel. Good times and I might like it more than SC2 at this point.  Did not play that at all.

Endings like that make me feel bad a long time and leave a bad taste in my mouth.

given your feelings about the read dead redemption ending, i think i'll enjoy it.  i like non-"hollywood" endings.

tell, me dae,

I just can't even comprehend the stupidity behind the decision to remove the tried and true equipment upgrade mechanic and replacing it with this absurd equipment "permission" system. That removes one of the most rewarding aspects of the series! My skepticism is not being abated by these reviews.

the bit in the review about the missiles and varia suit really turn the idea into absurdity though.

"hey boss, if you would let me press this one button, we could jump ahead of our enemies and maybe end this conflict early."

"no, samus, i think we should hold back for now.  once you are safe and sound past this obstacle, then i will let you use it, thus saving you time for the next obstacle."

it's even shorter in co-op.  even on legendary it only took two nights and that was more due to the others being east-coast and crashing early (this being 3am or so).

at least it should have some replay value with the skulls again, although i never did.  played it twice through though.

7218  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Back to the Future remake with.... Justin bieber....... on: August 28, 2010, 03:28:36 AM
let's all think of how bad this can be.  so, there will of course be a music number (by this guy or his contemporaries) in there at some point, even if it's completely out of place, it's what the kids want.  which third rate washed out actor gets to play doc?  who will be marty's new best friend who is either completely idiotic, invents crap that doesn't work (just like his uncle doc) or is in some way handicapped (so that marty can go back and somehow fix him).  he may also be black too as they'll feel the need to diversify the cast for no apparent reason.  marty mcfly is no longer his name, he is now something less dorky, in an attempt to make the main character cool.  he may even be a jock this time around, but a cool jock, of course.

the film will go back to those wacky days in the 80's, because you know almost everything wacky happened then and the director (a former music video director) will think it's a cutely ironic nod to the original that fans of the first trilogy will appreciate (they won't).  it will also feature a mix of crappy re-mixed hits by the main "actor" and his friends.  it will be available on itunes and sell a ton of copies to tweens who now think the 80's are cool.  nobody alive during this time period will be able to stand the music though.

lastly, biff is now a super masculine woman (another nod to the new culture) who breaks down and shows her soft side rather than be a total douche the whole movie (again, new culture).  she won't be turned from bully-hood by a fight but rather some kind act of the main guy.  this will allow "marty" to get back in time to save doc, get the girl and win the big game.

Played up through chapter 6 and I am enjoying it. It isn't the deepest game and in light of RDR and other advancements in the genre, nothing terribly new either. Despite this, the environment is very nice and detailed and I love driving around just to see everything. The different elements are all well done and there isn't a sense of rushing to get it out the door. The game only seems lacking when compared to it's contemporaries. Is that fair?  Of course it is and at the same time, isn't. I put this into the same boat as crackdown 2, another sequel that adds almost nothing new to the original design. Both are solid games but both could have been better in the innovation department.

Giving this one an 8 so far and even though I haven't finished it yet, i see no reason it deserves higher or lower scores.
