looks like it may be heart disease instead.

Quote
Mays suffered from hypertensive heart disease... No evidence of exterior or interior head trauma was found during Mays' autopsy, Adams said

well, if that's the cause, then that clears the airline of any negligent wrongdoing.  of course, i'm not entirely sure yet.  hypertension + an unseen trauma could very well add up to a sudden death where it would have just left a healthier person with a headache.

too true.  especially those that fall under the 'possibly removed due to copyright violation' types.

then it's a simple job to convert and copy.

is baz blue a 2d side scroller, ala streets of rage or a 2d fighter like sf2?

interested in the former, not so much in the latter.

plus, i know that the ps3 version is remote playable on the psp

+1 to WBS and Grue about the difficulty, particularly the part about playing on experienced.  up until then, i was having a great time and hadn't had any major problems, even when you aren't with the whole group.  (i think the first section with ecto-1 was troublesome, but that was before i used it to capture).  the damn cherubs in the first section are just huge pita's and ray was no help at all. most of the time, i had to revive him 3, 4 times, and worst of all, he's too brain dead on when to revive you.  he ran into to save me several times as they were pelting me with the fireballs, knocking us both out.  nice save man.

the only trick i had was using webbing the gate first and then dodging everything (but not with B, as that breaks the web) and hoping to get a good shot at the little bastards.  i think i tried it about 10 times before quitting and then aced it when i went back last night.  the section later on was also a pita even with all 5 of us as it just took to long to get any of the floaters captured, and you then had those ghosts plus the undead slashers, the tombstone creepers, and the damn cherubs flying around.  really damn aggravating as i was constantly running around playing medic.

then the last boss?  first try, no problems getting the trick or staying alive.

i do like the ending and that they tell you how many ghosts/artifacts you found in each level.

yeah, i'm not sure how 'all weekend' is true when it's 9:30 at night in the same freaking time zone as MS and it's back up to 160.

oh well, it's not like i can't watch it via youtube for free.
7206  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Billy Mays dead on: June 28, 2009, 06:52:01 PM
annoying he may have been, but he turned infamy into fame and how many late night tv pitch men could say that?

bad products or no, he is iconic.

ac4 is at fred meyers for $20 on clearance.  want me to pick it up for you?  it would be ~25 or so after tax+shipping if you can't find it locally
7208  Non-Gaming / Trading Forum / Re: Looking for Riddick on: June 28, 2009, 06:00:46 PM
i have it for the 360 and would be open to trade for prototype.  prefer to do that obviously, but 35 bucks is good.
7209  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [360] Red Faction: Guerrilla Impressions on: June 28, 2009, 05:57:57 PM
btw, kathode, you should seriously consider licensing this geomod engine for the next fallout game.  mini nukes would be so damn cool to use if they could take out structures like this.
7210  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [360] Red Faction: Guerrilla Impressions on: June 28, 2009, 05:55:53 PM
after you do the demo mission, you will start seeing mechs show up.  one of the light Aliens-esque loader mechs shows up near an edf roadblock and a race start point (i think).  i grabbed it during a mission and used it to finish that up and then knock down the bridge.  i smashed the sections nearest the ends so edf couldn't follow me out and then proceeded to plow up the roadway and knock down supports.  by the time i was done, it looked like a massive kids construction kit after a temper tantrum and fell down in sections.

you could also use mines and the edf against itself and remote charges to make a massive chain reaction.  i did that later on just for fun when the bridge was rebuilt.

best game i bought twice, just so i would have the unopened copies of the first three games in the big awesome collectors edition.  and the lightsaber still works too.

i'm getting an urge to boot this up now.

and don't forget the dismemberment cheat.  it makes the awesome combat even better.   icon_twisted

now if they could just mod that into force unleashed.
7213  Non-Gaming / Steals and Deals / Re: Windows 7 Home Premium (upgrade) $49.99 pre-order on: June 26, 2009, 06:47:14 PM
yup, and even then, 8 gb is much more than the average home user would need, even a few years out.  hell, i started with 2 gb on the current pc 3 years ago and going up from there isn't going to make a huge difference unless i want to run virtual machines.

i think going with pro would make a difference if you consider the xp mode useful.  a lot of that may be if you're a business.

i'll probably just stick with premium myself and if i end up down the road needing a beefier machine, getting pro for that one by itself.

btw, amazon has really cheap release day shipping.  6 bucks is much cheaper than anybody else's 2 day shipping.  impressed  thumbsup

even better than the download option, tbh.  maybe being located in the same state helped.

I don't see any mention of 32-bit or 64-bit on these retail sites.  Am I to assume that both versions come in every box?

I thought Microsoft is just going 64-bit on all W7 versions now or something. Odds are I could be wrong though.

And the 'both versions in the box' didn't work for Vista. The key was for all versions, but normally the 32-bit version was the one that was included (I got Ultimate). It was sad - I had to either pay Microsoft for them to send me a 64-bit disc of Vista, or I had to pirate the bloody thing to use the key I had.

This could suck.  I'm hoping that they remember to put the 64-bit versions on disc.  Maybe it'd be better to just order the download version from MS directly rather than the boxed version.

probably a safe bet considering that online is where you can buy it, but you have to wait for shipping anyways.  at least with an iso you can dl it as fast as your connection will be (assuming the tubes don't get so plugged with W7 that you end up at dial up speeds)

funny that i still have an attachment to the physical box and disc when i've already been using downloaded iso's from technet.

also, i hear that the director will be doing a screening that you can be involved with via bd live on the 25th.

could be cool

i am very interested in picking this up, but if the blu ray version (it still has the PSN games included right) is too much, i may have to wait.

any reason you can't buy a physical copy of x64 and upgrade to it from x86?  'the key...' sounds like 'only' the way it's written on the link.  i would like to avoid the whole launch day download wait if at all possible.

You can't do an in-place cross-architecture upgrade from x86 to x64, unfortunately.  You'll need to do a clean install where you migrate your data using the Win 7 version of USMT.

no, no.  i get that you can't cross the architecture streams.  logically, it breaks more than it could fix.

what i wonder is why he wrote 'the key to this ...' regarding the x86 -> x64 upgrade rather than just saying 'yes'.  the way he describes it makes it seem like you are somehow locked to a platform if you buy the upgrade anywhere else.  like amazon checking version key platform for eligibility requirements.

in any case, i'll probably be dual booting the main pc at home just so i have a working os to fall back on should i hit an unknown, at least for the initial run.
7225  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: 1TB HDD for the 360? on: June 25, 2009, 06:51:32 PM
it would make sense either way, but having it up there makes it easier to justify the 'slightly' more expensive 1tb drive.  there's a marketing scheme in that method.

the upgrade deal is nice, but the install method from clean os is backwards.  i guess they figured out why the upgrade version of vista was more popular than the full.
7228  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: UPS are puppies on: June 25, 2009, 04:03:32 PM
and thank god for that.  they were always consistently at the bottom of the list for regular deliveries.

of course, now when we talk about ups, it can't be followed with "at least their not as bad as dhl"

they once delivered a load of books to my house and left them sitting on the exposed side of the porch in spring.  luckily the box soaked up the rain and didn't let any in.

we'll never have a video game written/directed by philip k. dick (r.i.p.), but we do have fsr (as it refers to itself). i'm not saying this's a good thing - while i'd strongly encourage anyone who hasn't read 'the 3 stigmata of palmer eldritch' to drop everything & do so immediately, he also had a strong tendency to wander off to places that, while obviously interesting to him, weren't really all that interesting (or comprehensible) to anyone else, & fsr tends to cross that line pretty frequently...

and no, not interested in trying out a game which takes your mind on such a trip.  it sounds intriguingly horrible.

7236  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: 1TB HDD for the 360? on: June 25, 2009, 12:20:49 AM
i wouldn't buy a 1tb drive as i find the idea of full games for download less inviting when the games are full price.  no media, no resale, not interested.  hell, the only stuff i buy downloadable on the pc are either locked in drm affairs like HL2, mmorpg's like eve, or dirt cheap like the rest of the stuff i've bought.  of course, tie this into the fact i haven't bought a full price pc game since stalker: cs.  i also haven't, and won't, buy the movies and videos from xbla.  hell, most of it's free already on youtube/hulu, etc.  renting is different as at least you aren't getting stuff freely available elsewhere and it's near the cost of a physical rental anyways.

ftr, i have also decided to wait on the recent fo3 dlc in lieu of getting the boxed copy, but that's secondary to the fact that i haven't played it in a while and i have a bunch of other games on my plate now.

now, if they had a game dl service ala gamefly, aka 2 games dl at once per month, no limit to # of different games you 'had', then that changes things considerably.  i would be interested in a dl version of gamefly and would probably drop them altogether.

sounds contradictory:

THE REGISTRATION KEY AND CONSTITUTION KEY IS MISSING AND NOT INCLUDED

vs.

EMPIRE TOTAL WAR SPECIAL FORCES UNITS UNIQUE DOWNLOAD KEY CODE

so, which is it?  either you have a key or you don't.  so, you buy a sealed retail box with no keys and hope that the publisher gives you a code to play it?  proof of purchase will be hard to verify and unless you go to one of those other sites, i don't know how you could play it at all, never mind the mp side.
