sounds contradictory:

THE REGISTRATION KEY AND CONSTITUTION KEY IS MISSING AND NOT INCLUDED

vs.

EMPIRE TOTAL WAR SPECIAL FORCES UNITS UNIQUE DOWNLOAD KEY CODE

so, which is it?  either you have a key or you don't.  so, you buy a sealed retail box with no keys and hope that the publisher gives you a code to play it?  proof of purchase will be hard to verify and unless you go to one of those other sites, i don't know how you could play it at all, never mind the mp side.

finished on evil last night, and yeah, the ending twist wasn't really expected, nor the reason behind it.  (the character's reason, not the game designer's).  overall, i like it quite a bit, even though the powers you get towards the end aren't useful enough to use outside of specific occasions.  i rarely even used the last one at all and mainly beat the boss with ample use of shield and the evil side sith lightning.  it took me a couple of tries before i got the hang of the last fight, eliciting a few almost controller throwing moments.  shield is your friend against his big attack and you can avoid the ground effect attack pretty well.  the only one that is going to hit you is his force push, but with the open power lines around, you can get healthy fairly easy.

don't know if i'm up for a second playthrough as it started to drag on me at the end, even after a week's hiatus for red faction.  as it was, i found all the dead drops and 327/350 with all but two sections of the middle island cleared out.  no idea how many stunts i completed, which really highlights how dumb that portion is.  why doesn't the game let you look at all of the stunts so you can go after them?  yeah, it shows you the highest unfinished one, but after trying for that one through half the game, i fell back on using the known stunts and said to hell with the others.  i did get one back accident though, but beats me what that was.

i think the parkour implementation should be the de-facto standard for all similar games.  so much better than ass creed's implementation.  here it felt like i was in control of how i scaled a building vs AC was about finding the path lined out by the designers

overall, a 8.5/10 for me.

By the way, Fireball, why were you trying to slime the podiums?!   saywhat

Nothing at that point in the game indicated that slime was the proper weapon for that fight.

iirc, one of the others says you should use the slime to stop it
of course, that was such a hectic fight, i don't remember if it was ray or egon who said it.  i was able to shut them down with the slime eventually.  remember you have to arc it a bit up as it's not a beam weapon and gravity does take effect.

Apologies for the thread hijack, but I'm an AT& T customer that would LOVE an Iphone (currently have a Blackberry Pearl).....what is their "new upgrade stance"?

good starting point here

Quote
199 (16GB) and $299 (32GB) for all new AT&T customers and existing AT&T customers who have fulfilled their previous agreement. In addition, AT&T yesterday extended this pricing to iPhone 3G customers who will be eligible for a full upgrade in July, August, or September 2009.

and

Quote
Existing AT&T customers can easily check their upgrade eligibility at www.att.com/iPhone or by visiting any AT&T company-owned retail store. Customers can also call *NEW# (*639#) from their AT&T handset to receive a text message with information on upgrade eligibility.

and yes, i am interested in upgrading from my current phone.  i made the mistake of upgrading to a vue in february and now have a long wait until i get eligible.  have you considered price?  open to partial $ & trade?  lmk what you have in mind.

btw, i just did the *639# and it gives you exactly what you need to know regarding price and eligibility, including eligibility date.  in my case, 6/25/10, just in time for the next iphone.

i loved doing that.  it's so much fun to watch them fall out of the sky.  even better when they can hit something else.

the only problem with rfg is that now every other game that promises something similar will be knocked a point for not doing what this one does.  they need to license the engine out.  there isn't a sandbox destruction game out there that even compares to the level of detail of rfg.
6850  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Ghostbusters impression thread on: June 17, 2009, 04:24:05 PM
i have to echo most of the good and bad that was said here so far.  the look, the atmosphere, the sound, the humor and the characters.  everything is right.  you feel like you are in a movie, you get to go point on a lot of awesome ghost hunts and you get a tightly condensed experience.  outside of RFG, i haven't been as happy with a game after playing it all this year.  most games make you wait for the hook, or have one a step removed from you personally.  GB (and RFG) get you on the first strike and keep reeling you in.

i was a bit apprehensive that the mission structure would be one long path of ghosts and run together like a very long day, but they give you some downtime between the big missions, which opens up the station to look at.  great details there and if you haven't talked to Vigo yet, make sure you do.  there's also some great phone calls you can listen janine answer.

i like how they integrated the 'revisit' scenes without making it feel like a cheap way to fill up the game.  there are definitely enough moments in those scenes that you get a new, but familiar experience.

upgrades can make the difference in a tough fight, so use them.  being able to hold down the trigger with a heat reduction upgrade is noticeable.  same with the focusing effect on the proton stream.  i don't think it's actually possible to buy everything in game though, as you don't get all that much for a trap and the upgrades all cost major dough.  really glad you don't have to restrain yourself for damage reimbursement or i would never be able to afford anything.  biggrin

i made it past the library and into the museum on experienced, and my only drawback would be the lack of co-op through the campaign.  even having just two person co-op would have been awesome.

now, where's the twinkie?

Give it time - you have to remember the gravity isnt what you are used to, so things might take a little longer to fall down :-)

still, it's annoying when a building is apparently being held up by nothing other than a ladder that led to it's roof while the entire upper section is intact  icon_evil

true, but through my 20 hours of addicted play through, i noticed this happening only a handful of times.  i loved watching the alternative happen though, when a building that was visually standing up collapsed after a short delay and watching pieces from above wreck lower structures.  this happened during the sniper hunter mission.

i only ever saw the worst case of broken destruction once, when a walkway i trashed hung over the ground without a support structure at all.  too bad i couldn't jump to it, but i did get it crash eventually.

some interesting info regarding .tk

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.tk

basically, it allows anyone a free .tk domain with redirection within the html frame, ie you can in essence spoof your crappy angelfire.com neon-glow web page with a somethingnice.tk url.

aka, a very easy way to hide your web page's real id within sheep's skin.

.tk was the worst of the worst for malicious phishing, and still remains a huge red flag.  basically, if you see it in the domain, don't click it at all.

i think it's pretty damn odd that i never got the singularity bomb, now that i think about it.

i'm pretty sure that's the only weapon i never got to use and i really wanted to try it out too, although the grinder i passed on in favor of the arc welder.  (btw, i love that all of the guerrilla weapons look and sound like mining equipment)

finished 67 of the side missions, but i skipped out on the demo and racing ones about half way through when i saw that they stuck around after the sector was cleared.

i figure i can get that achievement and the fliers one if i go at it directly.  not so much for the gold ratings though.
6862  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [360] Red Faction: Guerrilla Impressions on: June 11, 2009, 04:04:24 PM
make sure you make a manual save before you take on the main base in EOS.  damn, that was fun.  great setting and a number of ways you can tackle the objectives.

i've actually managed to find all of the edf supply crates and destroy them. and the propaganda boards too.  not sure what it did, but after the last crate, i got a cheat unlocked.  could be fun.

not likely to ever get all of the ore mined though.  those things are all over the place and i still have almost 90 to go.

btw, i tried something new with the fliers and the nano rifle, which makes the hint earlier work.  don't aim for the body of those things.  so much more fun to watch them spiral into the ground anyways.

funny moment regarding those.  i knocked one out of the sky and after it crashed, i get the message that 'x of 300 ore mined'.  apparently it crashed into a deposit or two.  biggrin

i picked up on a few of those during the last few days.  also, i would add that it's good to get high in this game.  fly to the top of the nearest mountain if you plan on taking out high value targets or during missions.  once you get the jetpack, most enemies can't reach you and only flyers are a problem.  not much really as once you have the heat seeking option for the rpg, they go down in one hit.  3 or 4 shots with the nano rifle.  during the 'kill the sniper' mission, i was getting annoyed with it until i got up over the buildings.  then a few nicely placed thermobaric rockets brought the building down.  i also used this tactic to bring down the big edf base in the badlands.

you really want to get that demo mission done as soon as possible.  using a mech is awesome outside of the heavy weapons missions.

btw, in the other mission in eos, where you are tasked with climbing the unfinished towers to take out business leaders, there is a great alternative to fighting your way to the top.  beat that one in about a minute flat.

The Scrooge(?) achievement lets you sell items, as well as buy things in Free World mode and it won't count against you.

The no death achievement can be "worked around".  Best advice if anyone really REALLY wants it is to take a new toon through Silver Free World.  Level up to around 40-45 but not past 58 (37+ would work too but gets a little hairy at the end), Since bronze cuts off at level 60 you don't want to take the chance of accidentally leveling up too high in the Bronze campaign.  Start a new Bronze campaign and just blow through the main questline.  Just doing the main quests would take around 4-6 hours with all the running around.

IMO the hardest achievement would be finishing the story with a toon who hasn't explored 20% of the map.  Sounds easy as the world is massive, but trying to level up high enough not to get rocked by bosses is a hard grind.

good to know that about the free world exception.  now i can go buy the special mount and do some shopping, although i kind of doubt i'll find anything good without bartering.

i think the 20% achievement could be helped if you can also free-world grind.  or does that stack?  maybe doing a bunch of grinding on bronze then resetting on silver would do it.

the no-death doesn't check how many times you died total?  figured they would check for that.  i also think you may be helped if you play through a toon on silver and dump all of your loot into the chest.  would help out when you start up the same type on bronze as you could take all the risks with the silver and not.

with a level 36 SE, i can attest to the power of her battle stance buff.  makes even crappy level weapons effective and makes up for the speed hit you get from using weapons other than your chosen type.  with that and her short time speed buff, i can take out mob hordes with barely needing a potion.  i do use the exp ones though as it really makes hordes worth fighting, and in my case, worth creating.  i modded it to add reflection too, so for every third hit i take, they get hit, and oftentimes i will kill them without direct damage.  a halberd weapon would also have helped as it has a chance to hit multiple enemies.

if fit wasn't for the early stumbling block deaths, i could easily have taken this character through the campaign and gotten the achievement for it.  still refrain ffrom buying anything though so i can get that one.  unless selling stuff to them counts against you.  that would suck.
6871  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [360] Red Faction: Guerrilla Impressions on: June 09, 2009, 06:57:19 AM
through almost 15 hours and i have yet to find a black hole bomb.  used a few moabs though, and damn aren't they nice.  hard to use effectively though as you rarely have a high value target you can get to before taking too much damage.  knocked out most of one base and then a group of vehicle depots with them.  too bad the dumb things spawn as soon as you find the 3rd beacon and that you can't store them up in the base.  would have been handy to use on the bridge.

i took out the big one in the badlands with a mech i found in a mission.  found two so far, but lost the 2nd one when i retried a side mission.  if you get one, don't retry any of those random calls for help or you won't spawn near it the next time.  stupidly lost it when i went to take out a new rocket tank.  now i need to get my hands on that baby.  looks like a lot of fun.

and btw, if you like the rocket launcher, wait til you get it's big brother.  it levels medium-to-large buildings in two hits.  one if you get a lucky shot.   icon_twisted

still love the regular rpg though, especially with the 3 way shot.  took out the main edf base in badlands with it.

one major note iff you are going for the 104 guerrilla missions achievement.  make sure you do the random "call for help" missions before you clear the sector as they do not respawn ater you take the .  same goes for the raids and house arrest missions.  demo and race missions stay though.

~15 hours in and close to clearing the 2nd to last sector (i hope).  still haven't seen every weapon though.  and i bought every one except the grinder.  arc welder is your friend if you can get up close to a tank though.

6873  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [360] Red Faction: Guerrilla Impressions on: June 06, 2009, 05:07:46 AM
got into dust the other day and found those wind turbines.  easy targets, right?  so i thought anyways, but for whatever reason, i couldn't bring one down with the mining charges.  i did get lucky with the rocket launcher, but then i as i ran from a post guerrilla mission, i got on the path to one with one of those edf armored cars.  hehe,  icon_twisted i rammed one of the legs, thinking i might have to do a 2nd pass.  nope.  the loss of the leg and the damage it did as it fell was enough to bring the whole thing down.  same with the others i found.  huge grin as i got to use their vehicles against them.

on one of the rebel missions, where you have to join up and smash an edf building, i loaded up the friendly in one of those monstrous dump trucks, then drove into the building and completely took it down without losing any rebels in the process.

taking 'vehicular homicide' to the next level:  awesome.

i do need to be better prepared to outrun the high value targets after i destroy them.  twice now i have died after whatever explosive tank buried underneath (seems like it as i haven't been able to use it to knock the building down) goes off before i can get away.  tbh, i wasn't expecting a huge explosion from them and was behind light cover.  strong enough for a bullet, not anywhere close to whatever it was that blew up.  sucks too, as i lose the salvage chance and a bunch of morale.

gamefly has been nice to me and is sending this my way.  now i'm waiting on the usps to get into this.  perfect amount of free form destruction and so damn satisfying to watch buildings fall apart the way they do here.

i loved watching debris from explosions cause damage to walls in subtle ways, pushing each block out just a bit from the others instead of just being in one of three states like in most destruction games.

i do miss the true geo mod though.  something fun about making your own cave in a cliff side with dynamite to snipe from.
