Why not?  You could even have a Pro perk for dual wield scoping. I mean, you do have two eyes right?   :p
6802  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: The Walking Dead stroll onto AMC on: November 01, 2010, 08:19:30 PM
If it's only going to be 6 90 minute episodes, it will be a long time before the show catches up with the novels. By my estimate, the premiere covered about the first third of the first book. Not complaining btw. It means they will have lots of time to flesh out the story. I like the expanded sequences so far
6803  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: The Walking Dead stroll onto AMC on: November 01, 2010, 06:49:30 AM
That was really good and despite how it breaks from the book, it does it well and is pretty well written. The gore is right on target so my expectations for later episodes is good. I do expect some heavy censoring in some later episdes, but I would never fault them for that. The story is far more dark then than in the beginning.

so far, nada except a bunch of puzzle games and a quick look at metro 2033 to see how it ran (laagggggygg) and to see that chaos rising was enabled.

damn allergies and benadryl totally wiped me out yesterday.

that pretty much sums up my early impressions.  sad, really.

i guess it's back to new vegas once i steam through the rentals, this and force unleashed 2.  i hope AssCreeBro doesn't suffer the same sequel illness that hit those two.

i really like the Scott Pilgrim game and recommend the trial if you like the old school side scrolling brawlers.  Super Meat Boy is also fun and addictive but more punishing.

small note that you can also get Sam & Max episdoe 203 for free and pre-order and get Back to the Future episode 1 free. don't try to add either of these in with the MtP + Poker Night at the same time as when i tried it, the discount didn't apply to the bundle when i got to the purchase screen.  best to have them separately.

enjoy.
6811  Non-Gaming / Steals and Deals / Telltale "Meet the Players" sale - Ends Nov 1 on: October 30, 2010, 08:58:33 PM
a bit late posting this, but until Monday, you can get a pretty great deal on telltale.com.  found this on CAG yesterday.

Individual seasons of Sam & Max and SBCG4AP are $10.
The Sam & Max Complete Collection is $20
The "Meet the Players" Bundle (Sam & Max Complete and SBCG4AP) is $30

plus, pre-order Poker night at the Inventory and get 25% off anything regular price.  the kicker is you can get this plus the MtP bundle and get both cheaper than just the MtP bundle.  yeah discounts.

a great amount of gaming and much cheaper than the last steam sale iirc.

just a quick note that RB song transfers do not count towards the 2400.  it only applies to "add-ons and games"  i am pretty sure songs count as add-ons though so you should be fine with the Doors pack pyperkub

i really wish they would have let you get more than one rebate.  i had a lot of fun with a bunch of the trials but not enough to warrant a purchase for now.

6822  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Dynasty Warriors 7 Formally Announced, PS3 Exclusive on: October 28, 2010, 02:25:20 PM
The DW series is like a bad horror series:  you know the formula is intact and somewhere along the way, a whole lot of people are gonna die.

I do think the battles need reworking though. I've fought in the yellow turban revolution so many times it feels like I was there.
6823  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Fable 3, now with impressions + the official GT Review! on: October 28, 2010, 02:20:18 PM
Ok, this arrived via rental last night and so far, I am pretty lukewarm about the interface and how you interact with people. You would think that the system would have been improved, not padded by unnecessary delays. Hit A to interact should have been a quick pull of one of the buttons and locked on to the targeted person like they had in fable 2.  Why drop the seamless aspect they had for a slow-ass sub menu. The graphics seemed so much crisper before and the character detail feels a bit dated.

I am nor very far in so it has time to grow on me, but I didn't feel drawn into the world the way I did with 2.

i am probably in the miniority here but i actually like it more than fo3 (minus the bugs of course).  it just brings so much more depth to the game than before.

you're talking about hardcore mode, right?  I nuked that before I put the game on hiatus, I was getting bored with having to worry about food and water.
well, that's the biggest aspect of it of course, but I am also referring to the new stuff. Crafting and the survival skills, weapon mods, ammo types and reloading, and the multiple factions. It's that plus hardcore mode which raise NV to a level approaching Gothic in how immesive the world is. It's not all the way (nobody gets pissed if you wake them up in their house at 2am and threatens to attack you, and loading for caves/buildings takes you out of the game) but within the engine, the reality of the world has improved.

I am glad to hear it's done so well as that means we can expect some patches and dlc.

6834  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: What happens in New Vegas.... The FO:NV impressions thread on: October 26, 2010, 02:40:33 PM
Ha, that's funny. I would have been tempted to leave the soldier a frag grenade.

Had one annoying issue pop up when I went to play last night. I has been up in the souhern hills hunting bighorns (mutant beef, it's what's for dinner) and saved as I was making my way north, overlooking a road and some bandits. When I loaded the save, I heard this growl and was immediately attacked by a glowing ghoul. It was not there when I saved of course and I had to try a few times to survive while keeping my eyebot alive.

Despite what the guide says, nodding the varmint gun is worn the effort. I have a long range NVG scope and a silencer on it now and between those mods, my decent sneak skill, my eye in he sky and the perk which increases critical damage against animals and I can hunt damn near anything and get the positions marked long before the are even visible to the naked eye. It also works great as a sniper rifle against the rovig gangs.

11/14 - 11/20 deals

figured this was worth posting as it's better than you can get anywhere else.  over at CAG, a rep from kmart has been given free reign to get awesome deals for new games on release week and afterwards.  it's worth noting and i know not everyone here visits there so i've decided to keep track of the deals for the GT crew.

in short, the Gaming Coupon is this:  a code printed on your receipt at the time of purchase that is valid on any gaming item, starting the sunday after you buy the game.  they can be stacked as long as you don't use the copies of the code and don't add up more than the games you are buying them with.  codes are unique per game, not by amount. ie, SWFU2 has a $20 GC, Fable 3 has a $20 GC.  using both codes on a game is ok, using two codes from two copies of SWFU2 on the same purchase is not.

Using a coupon on a game with another coupon is expressly allowed.  you can train them as long as you want.  the code takes off the amount pre tax.

Some deals grant points.  here is the info on their deal card.  unlike the best buy card, points don't take 30 days to post, which is nice.

without further ado, here are this week's deals

this week, 10-24 - 10-30.  unless noted, all games are valid for all systems they are released for.

$20 GC
RB3
SWFU2
Fable 3
Sims 3
WWE vs RAW 2011
TH Shred bundle
Cabela's Dangerous Hunts 2011

Misc.
Wii + Wii Fit - $50
DSI/DSIXL + Zhu Zhu Pets - $25
