6801  Non-Gaming / Steals and Deals / Re: Amazon Black Friday Week Deals/Mad Men Sale/ Cyber Monday Update on: November 30, 2010, 04:21:41 AM
Dead Rising 2 for $30 is sure tempting...

Lost planet 2 for $15 isn't bad either.
6802  Non-Gaming / Steals and Deals / Re: Steam Give & get Sale 2010 is ON! Fill you wishlist up! on: November 30, 2010, 04:12:01 AM
hard to pass up the air pack but i already have two of the 5 and the other 3 are not exactly screaming buy to me.

ended up with this:

Indie Puzzle Pack - $5
Indie Pulse Pack - $5
Indie Clever Pack - $5
Indie Story Pack - $5
Left 4 Dead 2 - 6-Pack - $25
Indie Energy Pack - $5
Alpha Protocol - $7.50

so 57.50 for 26 (minus 5 i already had on steam or elsewhere) games plus 6 gifts.

not bad and nothing compared to last year's xmas sale.  i expect that to be murderous on my wallet.
6803  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: It's Thanksgiving Day, What Game Are You MOST Thankful for? GOTY Thread on: November 29, 2010, 07:49:55 AM
i definitely had a lot of fun with the saboteur as well, enough so that a replay is high on the list, which is rare for me and sandbox games.
6804  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: What are you buying this week? (11/29) on: November 29, 2010, 07:48:36 AM
nada except whatever steam indie pack goes on sale and whatever might look good there.
6805  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: IGN's Top 10 Gaming Disappointments of 2010 on: November 29, 2010, 07:47:29 AM
totally agree with crackdown 2 and fable 3 to a lesser extent.  had high hopes for the former and was willing to give the whole "good to be the king" game a chance.  instead, rehashed sequel and a game where less somehow equals more.  put simply, i have fable 3 on loan with the chance to get it basically half off and i can't force myself to pull the trigger on it.

moh wasn't bad, but it definitely didn't hold my attention, sp or mp wise.  it's also my biggest purchase regret of the year.

Grrr.   mad

cheer up gromit. i picked up the first one a while back and hadn't ever gotten further than the tournaments in the first town and i paid more than $10 for it.

if nothing else, i have learned that nothing beats a steam sale except a holiday steam sale.

6809  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: MPAA/RIAA sue lawyer for selling info on how to fight their 'lawsuits' on: November 28, 2010, 10:50:16 PM
best solution?  release the docs for free.  it worked for the hd dvd/blu ray encryption key.  once it's gone viral, it's too late to sue out of existence.

plus, the act of seeding the docs via the same torrent sites used to seed the files would be perfectly fitting.
6810  Non-Gaming / Steals and Deals / Re: Steam Give & get Sale 2010 is ON! Fill you wishlist up! on: November 28, 2010, 06:58:20 PM
eh, spoke too soon.  got past the purchase screen but now it says my CC denied it.  odd, i used paypal for the transaction.

bugger all.  paypal says it's good, i have the games in my library now and it seems it just got a little overwhelmed for a second.

had me worrying there for a moment.
6811  Non-Gaming / Steals and Deals / Re: Steam Give & get Sale 2010 is ON! Fill you wishlist up! on: November 28, 2010, 06:50:28 PM
ceekay, have you been able to buy the puzzle pack?  every time i click one of the purchase options, it clears my cart and i end up back at the home page.

of course, it seems i can't buy patrician 4 either.  or the ball, or anything for that matter.

steam, why won't you let me give you my money?

it seems to be working now.  exited and restarted steam a few times.
6812  Non-Gaming / Steals and Deals / Re: Steam Give & get Sale 2010 is ON! Fill you wishlist up! on: November 28, 2010, 06:36:49 PM
indie puzzle pack is now up.

but somewhat buggy.  i try to purchase it and it dumps me back on the home page with an error message saying they couldn't add the item.

i'll check back later.
6813  Non-Gaming / Steals and Deals / Re: Steam Give & get Sale 2010 is ON! Fill you wishlist up! on: November 28, 2010, 06:27:12 PM
slow on the uptake...

yeah, also bummed they put games that were part of the previous days' indie packs on sale.

may get patrician 4 as a gift but nothing for me.
6814  Non-Gaming / Political / Religious Nonsense / Re: Sharpton Wants FCC to Ban Rush Limbaugh on: November 28, 2010, 05:31:26 PM
while i think it's bad of a supposed news channel to so openly display their bias, i think it's wrong of government agencies to shut them down.  until they start openly advocating to overthrow the government, they have the freedom to speak their opinions.  i just wish they would change their names and not call themselves news channels.

sharpton just as biased as they are so it's no surprise.  i do appreciate that rockefeller went after both channels though.

Borders carries the issues 1-60 The Walking Dead Compendium for $60 (no doubt miles cheaper on Amazon). Still, I had a 50% off coupon on Friday, and it was tempting, I just figured I'd hold off on that until episodes 5-6 of the show run (even if there are differences, I've kind of enjoyed coming to it fresh).

is there a new compendium?  the only big one I have seen is 1-48, but one containing 1-60 would be awesome.

unless i am mistaken, BJ is off.  amazon still showing the 48 issue book (at a decent price too)

the also have the HD rentals but showing up as free.  might be a great way to test the new blu ray player i got yesterday.

nevermind, it was a trailer.

I LOVE buying megapacks!  The only bad thing about that is, when the same megapack comes out with newer games, I really can't justify buying it again frown

You can always gift me the duplicates  The Weghted Companion Cube will never threaten to stab you.

sadly, they don't give you gift copies for those.
6817  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: My Great Steam Experiment! on: November 28, 2010, 05:11:36 AM
it also goes a little overboard with game pricing.  pretty sure i didn't pay $49.95 for audiosurf.

suprisingly, not that many.  only 74
6818  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Post your Black Friday haul! on: November 27, 2010, 06:23:07 PM
so far, i have got the 3 indie game packs on steam, plus alpha protocol.  also grabbed a gift pack on steam to give a few copies to family and friends.

wife got a huge haul for the kids.

make that 4 game packs.

plus a handful of the xbla black friday games and a puzzle game which had  a silent launch.

they're also on sale individually, so if you only need one you can get it cheaper.

great deal on the king's bounty games

just the indie pack for me though.

if it let me, that is.  there's no add to cart button for the pulse pack.  you have to go to one of the individual game's pages, then you can get the add button for the pack.  a bit quirky.

I missed my chance to get the big compendium of the first 48 comics (about the fist six books iirc) yesterday but amazon has it for a decent price if you can get it without tax and shipping. I know the books go to 13 atm, so there is a lot of life to the tv series if they can keep going.

Also, there will be more packs of indie games similar to today's Indie Energy Pack. 5 game per pack, on massive discount, one day only. Again, I don't know the daily order these will come in, or exactly what the discount will be, but, here's what the names and contents of the packs will be:

- Indie Air Pack: Altitude, DogFighter, Flotilla, Gratuitous Space Battles, Plain Sight
- Indie Clever Pack: Doc Clock: The Toasted Sandwich of Time, Eufloria, Iron Grip: Warlord, VVVVVV, World of Goo
- Indie Pulse Pack: Audiosurf, Beat Hazard, Bit Trip Beat, The Polynomial, Rhythm Zone
- Indie Puzzle Pack: Cogs, Droplitz, Puzzle Dimension, Shatter, Tidalis
- Indie Story Pack: And Yet It Moves, Gish, Puzzle Agent, Recettear: An Item Shop's Tale, Jolly Rover

damn, i think i will end up with most of those packs even though i already have a handful of the individual titles.  too bad you can't gift the surplus.

new batch is up.
Eve online - $5
Defense grid - $2.50
Cities XL 2011 - $ - $29.99
Deathspank - $10.04
Indie story pack - $5
Autiosurf - $2.50
Batman GOTY - $10.20
K&L 2 - $5.

probably going to pick up the indie pack as a buck a game is too sweet a price and consider K&L.

Regarding one of the Romulus Lairs:

Spoiler for Hiden:
Holy crap!  I just did a lair that had me going through twists and turns, dead ends, then I had to fight followers of Romulus not once but twice!  And the second fight area was on multiple levels.  I just don't see how I'll finish this one in 8 minutes.  Even if I knew the exact path to take through the maze, the second fight alone eats up a good amount of time.
if that's the one i am thinking of, it would help to get into combat before your enemies are on the same level as you, ie, slash their hands before they pull themselves up or crossbow them from a higher ledge.  i did that on the lair i think you are talking about and didn't even take damage from them.

drag and drop the game listing.  it is a bit funky so don't drag the part of the list which takes you to the game's store page or you will go to the page instead of re-ordering them.

split between either RDR or ACB.  partly, it's due to the fact they both took an open world game (favorite genre by far) and made them fun and interesting outside of the quest markers.

follow up goes to ME2.  i had a lot of fun with it but i feel it missed the mark by taking away a lot of the rpg experience which they should have kept from ME1.  instead of fixing the known issues, they dumped them out entirely.
