i guess i missed it then.  oh well, thanks for the heads up at least then.  it wasn't that hard for the phone to find it, even with the wonky necessity for exact spelling of the title to find it.

Devil May Cry Kinect Edition

otherwise known as "the first kinect game to cause heart attacks in men younger than 30"

i was thinking that super turbo street fighter 4 championship SE would be announced.  they haven't even begun to milk this franchise for all it's worth.

dark void 2 would be a bit of a stretch considering they sacked the devs after launch, iirc.

don't forget, you can move everything over to a usb drive now and then trade in the HD.  i've been saving half of my games to an external since mid-june in anticipation of a slim 360 (that didn't pan out, sadly).

just use the bulk move utility instead of the game-by-game method.  it's not only a huge time saver, it also seems to get those saves which complain about getting moved for some reason or another.  sacred 2 is an example of that.

6806  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: HAWX 2 Impressions on: September 13, 2010, 08:43:46 PM
yeah, that rigid campaign structure is a bit of a bummer after the last game, but i know why they did it; to give you access to the big toys before you could unlock them yourself.  in the first game, i ended up using the older craft much longer end and never got to use the really new stuff like the f22 until much later on.  tbh, i think they should have kept that system of rank > unlock instead of the PEC rewards > unlock they used here and added the plane mastery stuff to that.  keep the PEC and the passive/support abilities and the various challenges though.

survival is definitely fun and should be a lot easier now that i have it really set to "expert" for those dogfights.  i want to buff up the MM's too.  best way to get through the early rounds
6807  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: HAWX 2 Impressions on: September 13, 2010, 05:12:27 PM
As I just found out, if the AO bit I mentioned about the plane doing a vertical loop instead of a hard bank gets to you in "expert" mode, set it back to normal and back out to the game, then set it back and it will stick that time. It's one of the games QC issues.
6808  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: HAWX 2 Impressions on: September 13, 2010, 05:03:54 PM
Well, I finished up the campaign and have progressed to a level 28 pilot. Even though I had fun with it for the mos part, there are some annoying aspects which keep getting in the way. The fixed view is dumb but you adapt to the one you use most anyways. It's the aspects of the assistance off mode which make the fame more frustrating thanit should be. It has a nasty habit of changing your target when you go into it and this happens every time you have a ground target selected.  This is made worse by the fincky targeting system. It will only change targets based on what's under your reticule which isn't even present in AO mode unless you have guided ordinance ready. Nothing shows up for fire and forget missiles except the lock. This makes AO practically useless when enemy aircraft are present. Controls also change in this mode so you have to fly differently than you do on normal mode and the throttle is set higher as well. For instance, if you want to bank hard and turn tight to cut in, it doesn't work the same in AO; instead, once you pull back on the stick, the plane levels out and does a vertical loop. This happens in so called "expert" AO, which btw is a bit buggy and stays in normal AO mode.   Conversely, it's hard to stay alive in normal mode against multiple fighters.

hopefully some more dow2 and hawx 2.  i am starting to dig that game more.   dow2 of course kicks ass in every damn way and i am kicking myself for not playing it sooner, although getting it for ~7 bucks was awesome.

pretty much this and nothing else. Beat the missions in HAWX 2 and got a few more missions in on DoW 2 as well.
6810  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: What are you buying this week? (09/13) on: September 13, 2010, 08:14:20 AM
Halo Reach and nothing else for a while.  got it with a $20 card at best buy.
6811  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: the Steam is a changing: Steam Wallet on: September 13, 2010, 06:27:58 AM
as long as they don't start enforcing you to use it, then i don't see the problem.  now, if they go and pull a MS points deal where you have to have a minimum order to use CC or use the wallet, then we'll have problems.

does this means they can start hawking stuff to us in-game?
6812  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: System Shock 2... it's been 10 years. on: September 13, 2010, 03:18:08 AM
i really wish they would do a proper sequel and make the hacking more like it was in the first one.  now it's more like a mini game everywhere.  hell, get the Introversion folks to lend a hand and get an interface like uplink.  they could go 3rd person like dead space, but i really liked fighting the robots in the first one.

was that movie stuttering badly for you too?  it had to stop and buffer several times.

yeah, the plot is odd and it looks like it's aping better fps games, but if it's going to do an rpg approach, it might be interesting.

Some time in the future, I know that my parents will live with me.  I'll never let them live the remainder of their lives in some kind of nursing home  icon_neutral

this is a definite possibility for us, but seeing as how her mother was the reason we moved out in the first place, would be an awkward situation. Plus, she is a huge hoarder and hasn't thrown out outdated study materials from her previous years in school and has them in huge stacks in a bedroom. If she moved in here, she would probably ask to have the garage just for her stuff and that's not happening.

As for the other way around, neither of my parents have a large enough house for us to live with them. I could mentally do it though, they aren't impossible.

I wish they had gone more Carmaggeddon, less Twisted Metal.  I've been waiting for something like Carmaggeddon to make a comeback with all the open-world racing games around, even if they must use zombies.

not sure they could get away with it if they weren't zombies.  i could imagine the jack thompson inspired headlines if they used real people.

the eurogamer review got me pretty excited too.  they weren't nearly as enamored with every aspect of it the way some of the other reviews have been, but they praised both the sp and mp with few reservations.  will it be the best of the series for me?  who knows, but it will be the last best version of halo we see imo.  i doubt another dev will be this good with the series.

Agree with you here Jarrod. They knew exactly what's going to happen and decided to accept it instead of pushing back to next year. IMO, they needed to get this out at the start of summer to have a chance in hell of decent sales. The modes are decent, the advancement system is pretty good and having custom loadouts are nice and still allows for the older aircraft to be useful and the modes are pretty much what you would want to have.

There are a few things that drag it down though which annoy me.

that last bit regarding the ratio is a bit disappointing.  i am sure there a lot more stories of valor from these wars and soldiers deserving the honor.  you would think the pentagon would want to highlight the uncommon soldier the way we did in our grandparents' time.  otherwise, all we see are the rising casualties, publicized scandals and weary soldiers getting sent for another round.

silver lining, NASA is no longer in the manned space exploration business anyways, so we no longer need a tractor beam that can work in space.  hooray for isolationism!

yeah, at least you can get it replaced for now.  my recommendation is to look into gazelle.  you can get it as an amazon gift card and get an extra 5% back too.

it won't net you as much as you might get on ebay or the like, but you won't have to deal with the hassle of selling it either.

if i weren't broke, i would probably do this myself with my old system.
