i can pretty much guarantee that whatever toilet humor has been conjured up for 'King Poo' and the 'Golden Poo Snake' won't hold a candle to facing the great mighty Poo in 'Conkers Bad Fur Day'...
yeah, that was poo alright. but it was poo in 64 bit. imagine it in HD, baby. now you can tell which type of corn it is

Can't say I'm disappointed at this. I'm a DW fan (except for Samurai Warriors) and a Gundam fan (MORE MECHS!) so I'd wager this is a win/win if Koei, Omega-Force, and Namco-Bandai put some serious production values into it. Oh look, 360 title too?!?!
Ahem...
IN!
agreed on all counts. while i'm not a huge gundam fan, i do like the dw series for what it is. unless this gets totally destroyed, i'll be picking this up. i really did not care for samurai warriors either. the solo missions were pointless and unnecessary

spiderman 3 was not the game i was hoping it to be. Yikes, betting on a game based off of a movie is never a good bet. it was more because of the potential i saw with sm2. i figured the good would get better and the bad would go away. i was hoping for a 9, but i got a 6/7. not going to cry over it though. it's fun, as sm2 was, even if it's not perfect. i'll play it till i beat it or get bored with it, and then it's trade time.

i feel like i jumped the gun a bit with the elite. on one hand, i got a system in advance of gta iv and mass effect (two major reasons i bought one) and get time to play all of the cool stuff already out (saints row, dead rising, crackdown, gears of war), but one of the "buy it now" games really paled against expectations. spiderman 3 was not the game i was hoping it to be. had i known that, i may have decided to wait until the 65nm
that said, i got a good deal on a few games that i might not have bothered with in the q4 rush, and a copy of gh2, so i am having fun with the system right now.
if the games currently out are of interest, or those coming in the next few months are really worth it, i'd say go elite. it's a better value than the premium now. $80 for hdmi cables, 120gb hd, and a redesign to get rid of one of the annoying problems is worth it, imho

there's a workaround for the upgrade version, as natively it will not let you install "clean", ie it will only install over the top of xp/2k. basically, you install vista twice. once without the key, giving you a 30 day trial version. then install from the disc and enter the serial when it asks you. bada bing, bada boom, no need for the full retail flavor of any version. not confirmed by me personally, but here's the article. i'll only upgrade once i can get a cheaper copy through an ms employed work friend and once i get a 2nd hd to install it on. not messing with my current xp install.

I got it over the weekend... My impressions, I have none. Game crashes on startup if I set the video rez to my monitors native rez which is 1680x1050. They have acknowledged the problem and said it will be addressed in the next patch.
Smashing QA!! That's a great sign right off the bat. Boy...makes me glad I waited for the game then - that's the same resolution I run at too. nuts. how long with this take to get out? at least it will run at 1280x1024. not like i have my copy yet as gogamer account problems have come up.

I see copies of it all the time down at my EB.
Perhaps, armed with the correct name of the game, future searches for information will provide results. and i helped so much by agreeing with you. man, i must have been wearing the drunk goggles when i saw that. time to see the eye doc.

The early 90's NHL series for Sega Genesis should have been on that list. 27. John Madden NFL Football (1990: Genesis) uh, not to point at you and laugh, gut you did notice he said NHL instead of NFL right? i understand if you meant the nhl series as it was also EA, like madden. btw, i loved madden. the only real sports game i played as often as a non-sports game. great fun.

Ahh yes, Freedom: First Resitance. That is the name of it.
As for why anyone would want to play it, I am somewhat.... "quirky". Sometimes I enjoy the hell out of a game no one else likes. For instance, I really loved Project Eve. I played it from start to finish, and loved every minute of it.
I tried to get a friend of mine to play Project Eve through with me, and after 4.5 minutes of it he just looked at me, as if to say "We aren't friends anymore dude. Perhaps you could leave now."
I do remember that OMM review. I also remember (with the help of OMM) the strange monitor noises, and the stupid way of reloading after death. And still I hope to find a copy of it somewhere.
 odd, we must be the only people on the planet who liked project eve. funny enough, i got the same look too from my friend when we tried playing it together. i think we ended up playing tribes 2 instead.

funny that they still stick to thier claim that "no late fees" is true when they charge you for restocking. excuse me for a second, but isn't that what the clerks do at a video store anyways? is there a reason that after a set number of days, the movie has suddenly gotten more expensive to put back on the shelf? i smell bs.
with this and the claim that we recently did not return a movie, i think the time has come to stop doing business there. nevermind the reason engineno9 stated.

Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / advice: what to exchange for ghost recon 2 [PS2]
|
on: February 18, 2005, 07:09:08 AM
|
|
ok, so my dad called me a few days ago and slyly asked me what i wanted for my birthday (in the context that he was getting one). it barely registered on my brain and when he mentioned ghost recon 2, i said that it sounded cool and that i was probably going to get the pc version if it was any good. well, he took that as a sign of approval and bought it.
after reading a few reviews, i found out that it is the malnourished little shut in brother of the decent xbox version, and is quite bad as a result. too bad, i was hoping it would surprise me in a good way.
now, i have been offered the reciept so i could exchange it, and will probably ask him about it tomorrow.
now, i just need to decide on a replacement game. my short list includes:
MGS 3 ratchet and clank 3
obviously, my posting this is also a way of asking, are the reviews accurate? is this game a boring mess of a trial and error or is there a gem in the rough?

the current trend up here in seattle is to turn decent rock stations (ok, not that decent but the about as good as radio gets anymore) into a mindless mix of 80's, 90's and the same boring shit you hear from the last few years.
Fuck, if I wanted to listen to crappy 80's radio I'd turn it to the 80's station! Just because your market was waning when you played the same 10 songs every hour doesn't mean that you need to play the same songs that were popular 15 years ago. They say that "we now play deeper tracks on the albums that you want to hear", but it just means "we now play more OLD Pearl Jam and Sublime that you didn't need to hear again".
Radio is the suck, and I don't know why they can't realize that. "The End" just sucks now. all that "original alternative" crap just stinks to high heaven. i think it's funny that all the could come up with was just simply what kroq does. there are no really good stations left on the airs up here. even kisw has worn out its welcome. if they fired that unfunny jackass "the ricker" i might just listen to the station again. but then i realize that all they play is metallica, ozzy and the occasional van halen. bah. screw radio, i'd rather listen to clear music on cd than all that crap

i'm finding that i haunt almost equally on both sites. there is a general mentality that OO is for off-topic and CG is for games, but that's not always true. i read almost as many of both types of topics on both forums, as not everyone cross-posts or finds the same things to talk about.
i haven't checked to see how many posts i have there, but it's probably a bit less than here. take that for what you will though as i don't post anywhere near as much as some do.
re: headlines posts. it worked at ve3d and i stayed there for years. i just don't read as much main page items as i used to. i would read them if they were here and about stuff i was interested in.
i do wish the split had not happened though. makes it feel like a rift where there shouldn't be one.

Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Mercenaries - Ace strategies (possible spoilers)
|
on: February 08, 2005, 09:52:27 PM

ace of clubs. i have this one down pat. first, after you get mop up the welcoming committee and remember where the stinger aa launcher is, get yourself a sniper rifle and head on over to the optional objective, the LZ. snipe the rpg soldiers on the building by the nearby jammer. snipe the pilots flying around in the choppers and the other nk's on guard. you can then use the allies for backup duty if you want. i would recommend loading them up in the aa launcher and driving it over to the plaza between the main tower and the jammer to the W.
take out the jammers in a cc circle, starting with the E. this is easy with the tank that patrols. hit the jammers from long distance with the tank and avoid the rpg soldiers. between the 2nd and 3rd jammer, a small base waits. take it out with carpet bombs and the other allied free support. make sure the alarm and barracks are gone; all other nk's too.
take out the second jammer on the hill and roll back down to the plaza where you left the aa launcher. leave the tank in the plaza and go fetch the stinger missle from the welcoming party, head back and take out the last jammer with the tank. a hind will fly over and patrol. if the allies die, use the shoulder mounted unit and take cover behind the tall buildings in the plaza. after it goes down in smoke, hit the tower with the bunker buster.
the ace will run, and will probably run to the small base you demolished earlier for support. chase him down and stun/punch him. extraction is easy from the helipad there.
ace of diamonds to come.
