looks like a tf2 clone, sounds like something more.  i'll fire up the trial later.

any word on steam vs xbla?  server populations, post-launch support?

looks like this is hitting April 5th for $9.99 on PSN and 800 MS Points.  looks like members of PSN plus will get this for free.

just got an email saying that not only do you get this for free, you get to keep it after your psn+ expires if i sign up for a year.

i am telling you, between this and getting to play Stacking for free, psn+ is starting to sound like a good value, even for those of us who the ps3 is our secondary console.

too bad the deal for divinity 2/sacred 2 doesn't include the gold versions of each.  it would be a killer deal then.

not a bad deal on evochron mercenaries though if you have been waiting on it.

Seeing that I highly doubt that there will be a lot of MP servers with decent pings to me, would this game be worth it for the SP campaign alone?

so far, my impression of the sp is someone took the urban defense mission out of MW2 and made it into a game.  insert "shocking scenes" into the action with occasional breaks in the combat to make it seem more serious.

tbh, if you aren't planning on hitting the mp much, wait for a price drop.  besides, crysis 2 hits next week and should be a much better sp game.

6610  Non-Gaming / Hardware / Software Hell / Re: How much room for a WinXP partition? on: March 17, 2011, 03:58:44 AM
i have never used it for games, but you could try win xp mode before going with the whole re-partitioning deal, which can be a pita if you don't have the right software.

you'll need win 7 pro or better though.

apparently it's changed an you don't need pro to download this any more.

might be worth a shot for a quick trial before you go all out with the partitioning.  if you do go that route, make sure to get a good backup in case it goes south on you.  you could also get a 2nd disk and dual boot to it.

how is the GSB campaign so far?  The few reviews I read shied me off buying it, at least at full price.

fired up front mission evolved for some mech loving and even though it isn't as good as expected it has been decent enough so far.  wish there was a camera further back as it's too damn close to the mech.  makes it hard when you get into melee range.

i might also go after the next chapter in mp two worlds 2 to see what happens.

far enough into it to get to the hated quad vs two mech boss fights and haven't had much luck getting past it.  saw the red faction armageddon preview and booted up RFG to tide me over.  damn that game is a lot of fun.

didn't boot up two worlds at all.  finding it harder to motivate myself to go back knowing how f-ed up the mp players are with overpowered cheaters all around.  might hold off on the mp campaign and village mode if the urge arises to go back.

It just doesn't stop. I'm not trying to be funny, but it reminded me of a horrifying Karmari Damacy the way the water would keep taking away bigger and bigger things.

ask yourself, if someone had posted "9/11 Humor--WARNING--IF YOU ARE POLITICALLY CORRECT, DONT READ THE THREAD"  and the joke

what's the #1 film in NYC right now?

Falling Down

would you have laughed?  not only is it insensitive to make light of a massive tragedy, it's not even the least bit funny.  it's bad humor for 8 year olds.

now, if you wanted to ask the question, how did some people in Japan react to the quake?

I heard Hideo Kojima hid in a box.
The creator of Pokemon was hit by a massive shock and fainted.
Miyamoto was safe atop his mountain of money.

then you might have a thread here.

nevermind your attempt to play the "wounded party" angle by defending your avatar as some sort of family pride.  you have had several posts related to the quake that are designed to incite arguments so this whole thing is just reaction to your callous indifference.  accept that you came off as shallow and move on.  or move along.  your choice.

i've had that in my steam library for over a year.  might as well see what it is.

Have fun!  I have a certain affection for it.  I appreciate that the devs did something different and I love the atmosphere.  I wasn't very good at it and doubt I'll ever finish it without resorting to a solution, but I have to admit the puzzles are logical - in retrospect... slywink
sadly, it seems the videos are not going to work in vista/win7 so I have even less to go on in regards to story. The art style is interesting to say the least.

Quote from: Huw the Poo on March 11, 2011, 10:52:04 AM

This is bullshit.  Brad Wardell posted this in his blog:

Quote
New Sins of a Solar Empire customers can pre-order Rebellion for $39.95.  Existing registered Sins players can upgrade to Rebellion for $29.95.

To pre-order, just head to the Store:  http://www.sinsofasolarempire.com/store.aspx

So I go to the store and click upgrade.  Here I'm greeted with two options: Preorder Rebellion for $39.95 or preorder it and get Diplomacy for...$39.95.  So because I don't have Diplomacy I don't get the discount!  Ya know why I don't have Diplomacy?  Because I didn't want it!  And now I'm being penalised.  Saying "registered Sins players" get a discount is disingenuous; what he actually appears to mean is players who bought Sins and both micro-expansions.

Is Diplomacy required then?

Edit: OK, calmed down now!  If Diplomacy is required then I guess it's fine, although now I wish I'd bought it when it was on sale.  I still think Brad's post was disingenuous though.

yeah, that is a bit misleading.  saying "registered sins players" is not the same as saying it requires both expansions.  like you i also did not buy diplomacy as none of the mods i had required it and i didn't see the need.

still, for $40, i hope this is not just a fancy new set of ships and a few tweaked gameplay mechanics.  if that's all they offer, i can go and get a mod doing similar stuff for free.
