Ok, this paid off well.  I just did the math on the games I already was already buying and after the GCU cost is factored in, I'm saving about $140.

I forgot to factor in Lords of the Fallen
162  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: What are you buying this week? (10/27) on: October 29, 2014, 09:24:13 PM
I have Far Cry 4, Dragon Age, AC Unity, and LBP 3 already.  Don't expect to pick up GTA just yet, but after the money saved from the BB pre-order deal and GCU discount, I might.

I like this intro better.  Go Cap!
It's definitely a good moment between the team.

Also, I love that they brought War Machine in on this scene.  I hope he has a good role in this.

I didn't get a chance to try it, but it looks like I'm affected as well.  Found my PS4 in an active (fans on) rest mode when I woke up this morning.  I pulled the plug on it so I'll be looking at a rebuild when I get home.

Way to wrap up the loose ends from previous episodes.  "I made you a promise" - vicious.   Interesting decision with the groups direction.

Spoiler for Hiden:
Yeah, although I had to giggle when Michonne conveniently gets her samurai sword back.  Very comic book-y moment.

I'm a little annoyed that they are splitting up again.  I suspect it makes for easier/better TV this way so you don't run into the problem I mentioned earlier where they have too many side characters on the sideline doing nothing.  But realistically if you had a group this solid trying to survive the apocalypse, why would you ever want to intentionally break it up?

Spoiler for Hiden:
It was pretty much a gimme if you were playing 'TWD drinking game'.  At the end of E2, I immediately thought "some termite will probably have that sword on him".

The only reason they split is because they had to.  Abe was done waiting around and the only way they could keep things civil was by making a deal.  Rick can't leave until he gets his people back.

Loved the following moments.  "Tainted meat, you pricks!" and their reactions.   Preacher's confession.  When lead termite gets shot in the hand and tries to act peaceful, then sees the machete handle and realizes he's not getting out of this one.  "We wanted to save the bullets."  Bob's speech at the end.

Narrow win against Carolina.  Trouble in the locker room continues with rumors about Lynch's attitude/retirement.  Up next, the 0-7 raiders.  (ouch)

Saints put the hurt on GB, as did the Steelers over Indy.  Was hoping that Philly would topple AZ...

ATB, you could be looking at a 5-11 season.  keep your hopes up man.

Xbox One getting holiday only price drop to $350

http://kotaku.com/xbox-one-is-getting-a-50-holiday-price-drop-1651181972

MS really fucked up the initial launch of the XB1, but it's like they didn't learn anything from Sony and thei rlaunch  of the PS3.   The install base gap must be getting larger.

Wait, what did they not learn? Aren't we happy to see a $350 XB1 this Christmas?

Yes people are happy, I'm guessing hos point is how Microsoft got to the point where they are offering a still  new system for $150 less with a pack in game one year after launch as I doubt this was nowhere in their thought process originally.

Yeah. When the Xbox One price was originally revealed, I remember Michael Pachter pointing out that Microsoft, if they were smart, would cut the price as soon as possible, taking the loss out of their own pockets in order to secure market share. This is something Microsoft can do, with its huge coffers, and which Sony can't. It appears Microsoft has learned this lesson, but the question is whether or not it's too little, too late.

Personally, I think it's probably been carefully analyzed and prepared, and I think they're being smart about it by making the price cuts temporary, allowing them to see the effects before committing 100%. Last time they tried it didn't have the huge effect they were hoping for, but that could change. By being cheaper than the PS4, they also take care of the biggest argument between those two systems. The customer is no longer making a choice between expensive and weaker (Xbox One) vs cheaper and more powerful (PS4). It's now an equation where the customer can actually make a meaningful choice between power and cost, and come out on top no matter what they end up with.

I fail to see how this is Microsoft failing in any way. This is them being smart.
Even more so when you consider that they are offering this price with their bundles instead of keeping them higher.  You get a choice of 3 of the newer and popular games (one being an exclusive) instead of their usual bundle offerings with the 360, ie, 2-3 year old budget games

Not sure how a price drop hurts them.  I'm not in the market for one right now, but it should definitely get some buyers.

Wondering if any of the reviewers used the tired-before-it-was-born "Sunset Overhype" line that the devs added to the game via their tv channel.

It does seem like the game is trying a bit hard to make a joke though.

I'm glad I found out about this before Friday, as I just held off on getting Bayonetta 2 until Sunday.

I am getting closer to wrapping up Shadow of Mordor and hope to do that before the next big game hits.  Also playing Hotline Miami on the Vita.  If I get any PC only time, I'll stick to space games like Elite or Starpoint Gemini 2.

Made a little more progress in Mordor and Hotline Miami.  Not sure how much more I have to do in the main missions, but a good push should be enough to finish it up soon.  HM is all but done except for the maddeningly tough at times 'A+ all levels' trophy for the plat.  Going for some of the specific trophies was actually pretty fun and asked you to play for a very exact goal.  Now it's just working through to get the muscle memory and luck to ace the levels.

Did not get any PC only time so no Elite or SG2.  :/

Boo.  Says the release date calendar.  This week sees a timely Halloween themed game and a Dark Souls-inspired action rpg for next gen.  We also get to see if the hype around Insomniac's XB1-exclusive was warranted with a crazy open world game apparently inspired by an ayahuasca trip.  Stealth Inc makes its bigger sequel appearance on the WiiU.  This begs the question, how strained is your gaming budget so far with many big releases yet to appear?  I know mine is tensing for a battle in the next month and I've already skipped several of the big names already.  On to the list.
