haven't seen any concrete comparisons yet though.

The world is indeed full of peril and in it there are many dark places.  In to this world goes our tortured soul Talion, a weapon forged from death and vengeance.

This week sees the release of one of the surprise hits of the year.  We also see the next iteration of an XBox racing series and another in the long line of Sherlock Holmes games.  We also get the newest menace to portable hardware, Smash Bros.  This also seems the unoffical start of the gaming onslaught season.  So, what are you buying this week?

Love this part about the nemesis system.

Quote
It may seem like the nemesis system only applies to a small fraction of the enemies you're fighting, but it's actually silently working in the background for everyone. In one losing battle, a previously unnamed archer picked me off from afar. The honor of such a great kill propelled him from his soldier's position into a new rank as captain, where he continued taunting me for hours to come.

Ok, I was on the fence to buying this on disc or digitally, but now, I'm going digital.  Having it pre-loaded will be great, plus being able to play it at any time remotely will be a benefit this time, considering how much replay value you could get out of it as opposed to a game like Infamous.

I don't think they want to.  Didn't SoE have problems trying to transition players over to EverQuest 2?  Cannibalizing your user base is not easy and can lead to an early death if mishandled.

Not surprised they killed this.  We had so little information to date.

I'd totally recommend picking up GZ to see if you like the new style.  Turtle nails it on the head.  This plays a lot like Kojima's take on Splinter Cell.  Story wise, it won't make much sense, but if you are just going in for the gameplay, you can ignore the deeper reasons behind the character's actions.  GZ and PP are much darker games in their tone and have some pretty mature/graphic scenes.  There are some intentionally funny moments too, but it's mostly optional.

PP is going to have a large open world in at least two different environments, with missions that let you approach them in your own way and also reacts to your previous missions.  They've said that if you were seen to use silent headshots a lot, then the enemy would start using helmets.  They would beef up security if you hit them with force.  Add light if you were found sneaking through.    It makes the game a lot more logical than simply moving through a linear campaign structure.
190  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: the Steam is a changing: Steam Family Sharing! Cross Region Trading in trouble? on: September 23, 2014, 03:24:13 AM
I like that they added the steam review scores to the item when you are viewing large groups of games, like the weekly sales.  It also looks like the historical data is already working from ES.

Now I just need to work out how to get any kind of data for the stuff I was working on.
191  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: the Steam is a changing: Steam Family Sharing! Cross Region Trading in trouble? on: September 23, 2014, 03:10:51 AM
Looks interesting, that's for sure.  It also broke every one of my scripts that I was using to quickly pull sales data.  Looks like it also deprecated/broke all of the Enhanced Steam scripts, so no more historical data until those people catch up.
