you may think itís a long way down the road to the chemistís, but thatís just peanuts to space.  whenever I see these, I think of the massive drain from our NASA budget regarding manned exploration. sad that we won't get the trip to Mars.  maybe if I live long enough I'll get to see them touch down on it.

then I came in here and all doubt was removed.  biggrin

there is some occasional graphical splotchiness, but it's not distracting.

the facial animations are pretty good. It's pretty funny but I finished the downloaded section before the rest of the game downloaded.  nice feature that it does this, but now I have a few minutes to wait just as I got to the city.

oops, that was hours, not minutes.  seems Sucker Punch wants me to go back to work.

ok.  I'm at work and playing it via Vita remote play.  The connection is solid enough to support it.  amazed.

PST.  So sucks for us east coasters.

Sucks for us reasonable time keeping west coasters too slywink

Yeah I wish my ps would start downloading as I sleep. Isn't it supposed to do that anyway?

Apparently it will in April. Which doesn't do a lot of good for us right now.
Too bad. It seems to do this now whenever I buy something from the PSN and it's installed when I get home.

What's your secret?!!??
On PSN, it's a menu under your account name, called download list.  From there, you have whatever Sony systems listed below and can add downloads to each from your purchase list.  in the Vita and PS4's case, it downloads as long as the network connection is online.  the PS3 checks in at a time you set and does the downloads then or when you power the system on next.

there's also this

sadly, I now have some doubts about that one after the noticeable drop in detail on next-gen versions of Watch_Dogs.

Why is this rumor still being spread around even after it was debunked by the devs themselves and by people analyzing the trailers? The E3 2012 trailer never specified platform (it was running on PC), and the E3 2013 trailer (which was specifically touted as running on the new generation of consoles) looks the same as the game does today. The armchair "experts" are so off the base on this that it's not even entertaining to watch from the sidelines.

if that's the case, then the only downside is that they couldn't get that level of detail out of the next gen consoles.  and that in itself raises doubts about what's possible in The Division.  sure, different dev and engine, but until it's been shown as it actually runs on these consoles, we have to ask whether they are up to the task.

I said the E3 2013 trailer for Watch_Dogs looks like the game does today. The Division was first revealed at, you guessed it, E3 2013.

This is a tempest in a teapot, people! You're getting carried away by speculation made by people who have no idea what they're talking about, and who desire nothing more than to predict disaster.
if it looks as good as the e3 gameplay trailer (and that it was indeed on a console, not a PC), then I have nothing to worry about.

in any case, back to our regularly scheduled talk about Infamous

that's what I signed up for, so that's what I'm happy to get.  a solid superhero game by a studio whose games I've enjoyed.

now, if this were The Division, I'd be disappointed that the dev didn't go the extra mile to make it everything the trailers seemingly promised.  sadly, I now have some doubts about that one after the noticeable drop in detail on next-gen versions of Watch_Dogs.

Division is next gen on thought right?  So maybe it won't suffer like Watch Dogs has.  (I assume it's last gen holding us back, Obi-Wan style!)
it is.  the doubt is based on Ubisoft and their ability to wow with early shots then scale back considerably due to engine/hardware constraints.
175  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: [movie] Captain America: The Winter Soldier confirmed on: March 20, 2014, 06:24:28 PM
I'm going to see this in theaters regardless of reviews. hell, I might not even read any until afterwards.  better that way imo as you can get the critical response and see how well the movie holds up in other people's eyes rather than going in with altered expectations.

btw, you had a string of 7 posts back to back there. I think that must be a record for BJ-level hype.  biggrin

I'll still buy it on XB1, unless the graphical difference is amazing. I trust MS's network/server infrastructure way more than Sony's.
until these last two weeks of delayed PSN updates, I'd have said that Sony was rock-solid since the crash of '11.  even being different parts of the system, it dredges up bad memories of those months.  that being said, they've actually been pretty solid in the MP server realm and I've never had issues playing MP games on the PS4.

and yeah, I look forward to Titanfall 2, although more for the evolution of the series.  if they give me a full co-op campaign using those VR goggles, I'll be next to Pug pooping rainbows of happiness as that would be the closest we'll get to a Heavy Gear/Mechwarrior sequel in years.

don't take it too seriously Pug.  I think he was just using this as a moment to regurgitate your line back.  I also don't get the hate we've seen come up recently but I also wish it would stop.  not sure if it's just the next-gen division we've seen or backlash against the promise of the next-gen but I don't remember this level of in-fighting last time.  hopefully things will settle down soon.

Farscape is one of the few series that make me wish selective memory wiping was a thing.  I'd love to watch this again from the start without knowing how it ends.

and RE that music, it reminds me more of Alien than Farscape, with some Vangelis Blade Runner-esque mixed in afterwards. ~4:30.  good stuff though.

one thing that comes up in the review that I really love.  they mention that the DUP structures you destroy remain destroyed.  I love that effect in these games. it's a great way to feel that your actions have a lasting impact.  every game that has done this to some degree has much better lasting impression.  I loved Red Faction Guerilla and Saboteur all the more for this.

187  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Orbis. aka PlayStation 4? The rumors are put to rest. on: March 20, 2014, 03:12:11 PM
It's still pretty constrained in the channel that's for sure.  I haven't had any days recently where I hit up more than one store, but I check whenever I do stop by.  I've seen more XB1s on the shelf than PS4s with only one exception when I saw a pallet of PS4 bundles at Costco the day they stocked them.
188  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [Ps4] inFAMOUS: Second Son on: March 20, 2014, 03:09:48 PM
wel, maybe streaming gameplay will help sway you now that Sony/Twitch stop banning people who have the game already.

I'm not bummed by the reported brevity as I spent a lot of time exploring the last two games and got my money's worth even though I didn't play both evil/good.  GTA V wasn't as long as IV, but I still enjoyed it more.

I've unlocked pretty much every wing part except 3 which may be locked behind an objective to kill a blimp.  I have only ran into this once and didn't have my nuke frame equipped so I died pretty easily.  It's like going against two battleships in close proximity (which I've had happen at least 5 times or so) and at the top of the screen so you can't circle strafe it.

I love the cannon but my favorite combo is called "Danger Zone".  too bad they couldn't get this to play in the background

Some new images popped up today:

Love the timeframe and place this is set in.  France around Napoleon and the revolution?  This could be very interesting and a return to the AC we remember from II/Brotherhood.

From Kotaku, they also mention that a 360/PS3 AC game codenamed Comet is in development.  I guess we can look forward to targeted development and not just ports with added in effects.

-edit
Clearly, these are early shots and only indicative of the timeframe and geographical region, not part of a final build.

played about an hour of it.  man, you really need to see the game in full blown action mode.  it's like a bullet hell that you can actually live through.  I've unlocked about 6 or so different parts (Wings/Guns, Body, Engine) and each of them has 5 levels of challenges to complete.  it's hectic, it's a challenge to master each of the plane types and you die a lot.

too bad it's not on PS4 or I'd stream some of it.
