After reading the quick bit on Kotaku on the SP ai, it sounds like the worst escort mission ever was expanded to a full game. Brain-dead companion that you need to rescue after running directly at the enemy.
That they said the best reason to play co op is so you have someone to laugh at the game's flaws with makes me skeptical about paying any where full price for this.

While I understand all the negatives listed and admit they are all fairly accurate, I really enjoyed the first game. It looks like Riptide is more of the same. In that case I'm sure I will have a blast playing this as well, as soon as the price drops into my range.
Enjoyed the first, except for the end boss, who was a cheapass fighter with too many respawning enemies around him. Bummed that they didn't refine the game as much as I'd hoped. Backlog overrule in effect. Waiting on a good sale before I pick this up.

As long as we're stuck in a wait-and-see period, what are your personal suspicions -- foreign terrorists, domestic terrorists, lone nutjob(s), something else?
I'm leaning toward a lone anti-tax, anti-government nutjob.
this is awfully close to the usual time anti-government, white supremicist and "home-grown fuckers" like to stage their bullshit protest and their attacks. of course, it's also Patriots day in Boston, so it makes it a nice target for both extremist m-fers.

There was a bomb at UMass' JFK library.
Thankfully, this was just officially denied by the college.
Two more bombs were found.
Btw, there's a buzz feed photo thread out there with some pretty graphic pics. I had to close it after the recent update. Just awful.

I will be trying to break through the seemingly impenetrable barrier that is the upcoming Vita game Soul Survivor. Expect a preview within the next couple of days. I will also be playing a secret game of which I cannot speak. It comes out later this month, and it's kind of an anticipated release for what it is. Scratch your noggins over that one for a bit. guessing this is Injustice or SMT Soul Hackers. unless I missed the announcement for a new barbie horse adventure or something.

btw, if you took advantage of AMD's recent promo, you will be getting a copy of this free. sadly, it does not appear to extend to the first promo, aka the one I got when I bought the card back in November. ironically, a big part of the reason I upgraded then was for Far Cry 3.

My gaming pc runs windows 8. I don't like 8 much, but it's been just fine for gaming.
Same here; I upgraded for X-Com. I chose Windows 8 because it's a lot cheaper. And I don't know if this is objectively true, but I do feel that a lot of programs (Steam especially) and games run A LOT faster on Win8 than on WinXP. I would expect this to be true. we're talking three major os versions difference, not to mention moving from 32 bit to 64 bit, most likely. I'm sticking with 7. I satisfied all of my curiosity about 8 through the job and I won't be upgrading until the games and the directx version starts to impact what I can play. Not a fan of the metro interface and unless I can kill it completely, I'll happily avoid upgrading.

been out of the scene for 10 years now. it was primarily just games, but now due to the following, I don't. More money/more games, less free time means I don't see the point in having large volumes of permanent backlog titles, and the fact that so many games have cheap sales regularly, means I have a legitimate backlog of stuff I am interested in already.
with tv/movies it's almost the same thing for me, but I've cut back on both a lot since I was younger, to the point I am moving towards cutting the cable out of the monthly bill entirely. I have netflix now and will subscribe to hulu plus when I do to cover 95% of what I watch at 1/3rd the cost.
yes, I know this doesn't touch on the core question. in my eyes, it's pretty much the same. Media of any kind, whether books, games, movies, music, it's the same act of taking for free that which is for sale. it happens, it will continue to happen and smart providers will do what they can to make the most money they can. the rampant piracy of the last decade and a half was born out of CD prices being out of alignment with consumer desire for easy, cheap access to the songs they wanted. other media followed as the technology advanced to make transferring it painless. by the time that providers got their services online to support the market, the visibility of pirating sites and the ease of using them made pirate sites impossible to shut down completely. even the threat of lawsuit and prison didn't squash it.
I think people have the same attitude to pirating that they do speeding. don't go overboard and you reduce your chances of being caught. 'bigger fish in the pond' to catch. when you add the hurdles that some providers throw up at you, illustrated by the GoT comic above, you end up with people taking the stance that the corporation is not treating its customers well and this makes it easy to justify piracy.
tl;dr version. what theoatmeal said.

I intend to finish the main quest in Skyrim, thus finally beating at least one of the TES games. (at least marginally). I figure that pushing close to 200 hours between the pc and 360 version should have me covered enough in the game for a while.
I really fell in with it by default as my recent attempt to play Stalker Call of Pripyat failed miserably after the 5 hard lock in 2 hours of playtime last weekend. so now, I am split with where to go next. nothing is on the horizon that really interests me, so it's been a tug of war between Bioshock 2, FONV and S:COP (at least after I forgive it for crashing). I still have BI installed to see if the DLC coming warrants a purchase, XCOM on the back burner and uncounted more on the backlog shelves.

Usually when it comes to the babe du jour, I find them overrated (Megan Fox, for example). But Kate Upton... yeah. Wouldn't kick her out of bed for eating crackers.
Hell, I'd let Megan Fox eat crackers in bed. Kato could eat whatever he Damn well chooses in my bed. Ribs even. We all know Kato is a lightweight. One half a beer and he passes out. How is this relevant? Easy, it's now the couch instead of the bed.

Yeah, the monthly payment will be a benefit in the end. I'd start with taking the money that went to the bank as your fed payment. At least you'll have it paid off quicker. I'd go for that in a heart beat. Although they'll will undoubtedly want some money up front though.
Maybe a loan off a different bank.

I like this version of AA more than the drunken AA from the other day. I also like the explanation. so very neat that I'd almost guess you had a hand in the story.
as for the post credits bit, I have the same feeling as I did after watching Inception. it has a very either-OR feel to it. I wish I had known it was there instead of having to watch it on youtube. would have had more of an effect.

Non-Gaming / Hardware / Software Hell / Mouse issues with extended desktop

This just started happening a few days ago. In game, when I mouse to the edge of the display where the secondary is, the cursor leaves the screen and moves about the secondary monitor. If I click while in this mode, it alt-tabs out of the game. I have to move back within the limits of the main monitor before I do anything. I have switched back and forth from windowed to full screen in whatever I'm playing, but it has no effect. the mouse still goes outside the main monitor. I've had this setup for over a month and this is the first time this has happened by accident. I finished up Bioshock Infinite on Friday without any sign of this happening. It doesn't affect BI even though other games are currently affected.
This has come up in the last few games I have played: Skyrim Fallout NV Stalker Call of Pripyat
I've resorted to using a program I dug up which limits the mouse to one screen, but it's imperfect. Last night in Skyrim, I inadvertantly tabbed out when I right-clicked in game, despite being nowhere near the border. plus, it's always on, so I have to turn it off after gaming. Much rather get this sorted out and back to normal.
No, haven't updated drivers. last let windows update on 3/20. Last thing I did before noticing this was install Call of Pripyat Complete. I didn't play much as the base game is buggier than expected and between that and the mod, it crashed 5 times, hard lockup. I nuked it after fighting it for an hour. not sure if it has any relevance but felt it warrants a mention.
Running Catalyst drivers 12.4 as the 13.1 drivers were playing hell with the extended desktop configuration. AMD 7850 @ 1920x1080 on Samsung SM2333T CrossfireX AMD 4250 @ 1050x1680 on Dell 2005FPW

BioInf is a strong contender for best story in a game, but TR beats it for the overall package. such a perfectly made game and I have no disappointments from it, except that I wish it had gone on longer.
BioInf is good but I really wanted to see some of the early demo gameplay they hinted at back at E3 2011. Elizabeth is a great character, but is more of a random buff in combat instead of a real participant. I wanted to have her powers be grand in use and have that cost of potentially hurting her through over use. instead, we get hooks and cover, turrets and med/salt kits.
