What would you consider an extended period of time?

Hello I got a great bonus this year and was able to get a 50" panasonic plasma TV and also a wii  Tongue.  My question is I'm afraid to play the wii on the plasma tv because of possible burn-in problems.  Should I worry or should I just plan  on playing my wii on 20" crt tv?  Any input is appreciated  thumbsup

I wouldn't sweat it- burn in usually isn't a problem as long as you have your brightness and contrast set to proper levels (ie not the torch mode they use to display in store).  Wii also has a Burn-In protection option in the menu though I'm not sure what it does exactly.

Thanks I've got the contrast (called picture on this set) and brightness set to 0 as recommended by Panasonic for the 1st 100hrs.  I also read the manual about the wii burn in protection and really all that does is if you pause the wii for more than 5mins it will fade the screen.

Just to update this thread, I received my 360 back yesterday from MS.  They apparently repaired the unit I sent them as it has the same serial #.  I shipped the 360 on Mon Nov 6th (took 5 days to get to McAllen, TX from where I live) and they shipped back to me on Mon Nov 13th.  I was kind of hoping they would send me a new unit.  What i'd like to know is what did they fix?

I had the same question, but it became a moot point because my own was replaced.  The CSR said they dont reveal any details of the repairs due to an NDA with their suppliers.  Though I can understand that, it't not a satisfying answer.  Either way, I dont think the CSRs have access to any of the information.

Anyways they have been blatantly lying to me about a hard-drive repair, I've wasted so much time on the phone with them.  They ship me a Dead on Arrival part and expect me to pay to ship it back.  Not only that but since Oct 25th, they have placed 3+ internal repair/fulfillment orders, where I got Tier 2 'Supervisor' assurance that they would follow their old policy, ship to me first, and I ship back the broken HD at no cost to myself because it was 100% dead on arrival.  They keep cancelling or changing the order internally, no email updates.  Its ridiculous.  First time in my life I filed a BBB complaint.

It would be 12 dollars for me to ship, but at this point it is so much more than that in time and frustration, its become a matter of 'principle'.  I have never experienced a company that would tell a customer one thing over the phone, change it internally and provide zero.. absolutely zero updates, let alone put a customer through this process 3 to 4 times.  I'm telling the short version of the story, but it seems pretty obvious that I was being lied to and my time wasted when the first two fulfillment orders were taken on 10/25, then 10/31 and I was not even told a Microsoft ship to address until 11/4.  11/8 and 11/13 I got additional Tier 2 assurances that I was being 'taken care of', its processing, its already shipped.  I dunno, no one seems to be able to produce a tracking number to prove to me anything is on its way.  All false assurances and promises.

Wow that's unfortunate that you are having so many problems with microsofts csr's.  Seems to be random whether or not you have a smooth process.  Fortunately I only had to make 1 phone call and I received and email from them the day they received my 360 and then another email w/tracking # when it shipped back to me.  It seems to be working as normal I just wish I knew what they did because they received it on a Friday and I had an email Saturday morning with my tracking #, so apparently it was a simple fix.  Now I just have to put some time in to it to make sure it's fine because I plan on selling it as I purchase a new console from bestbuy with the warranty while it was being repaired.

I from day 1 have used the VGA cable to my PC monitor.  I was getting freezes along with graphical artifacts last week and it finally died on Saturday with the 3 red lights and is now on it's way to being repaired.  When I was getting the freezes and graphical artifacts I never got red lights it always stayed green but then on Saturday it would not boot up and gave me the 3 red lights.  Based on what I have read on various forums it looks like once you start getting the freezes and graphical glitches it is inevidable that you will eventually get the red lights.  Fortunately for me my 360 was a launch unit and my warranty was extended until 11/22/06.  I hope your freezing problem is fixed for you.  If your 360 is a launch unit I think I would be calling MS since it is still covered under warranty.

I'm leaning towards Best Buy myself for my 360 purchase in a couple weeks.  What are the extended warranties and how much do they run?  I thought i read somewhere you can get something longer than 60 days.  All these nightmare stories are scaring me into not wanting to buy one!

The product replacement plan (PRP) cost $59.99 and covers for 2 years.  If something happens to the system in those 2 years you get a replacement no questions asked.  You would then have to purchase another PRP.  If the system fails in 30 days of purchasing you can take it back and get a new one but retain the original PRP.

MS' customer service has really gone downhill from the first time I dealt with them for my 360.  The first time was quite painless.  The second time was more annoying.  I really hope I don't have to go through a 3rd time.

I'm seriously considering picking up another 360 once the hardware revision happens, and get a product replacement plan from BestBuy..  I'll sell my current one to help finance it.

That's pretty much what I'm going to do/did.  I purchased a new 360 yesterday at bestbuy along with the 60 day replacement plan and will sell my repaired console once I get i back to recover most of the cost.  In the end this will probably end up costing me $100-$150.

Well add me to the list of a dead xbox360  Got the dreaded 3 red lights this morning. By the way this was a launch 360. I believe since it's a launch system the warranty period was extended until 11/22/06. I will more than likely send this one in to be fixed and buy a new one while it's being repaired and then sell the repaired one once I get it back. Anyone know of any xbox 360 deals going on right now?

I have a launch 360 and over the last couple of nights I have been experiencing lock ups in Marvel Ultimate Alliance. When the game locks up there is also graphical corruption but I have experience no red lights on the console everything stays green. It happened at least 3 times in a row last night 30 seconds into the game on different save locations. I then switched to playing NBA2k7 and it played fine. Then today I loaded up MUA and it played fine. Any ideas other than my 360 has one foot in the grave? icon_frown

I just got mine you will not be disappointed!  I was able to get mine for a little over $1500 and this included 2gb of ram.  I also got a free mp3 player, printer, and $100 coupon which I used for a new carrying case and a logitech G7 mouse.  I think I did alright + the M170 is an awsome laptop.

I agree with everything Lockdown is saying.  I can't compare to the xbox but the 360 version seems to be pretty good to me.  The only time I see bad animations in the infield is if i rush a throw instead of letting the fielder set himself.  If I rush the throw it just doesnt look right but still works if you do need to make a quick throw.  You only really need to wait 1 second after the fielder makes the play to throw the ball and to me the animation looks dead on.  Last night the computer turned a double play on me and the replay of it was like I was watching a game on TV!  I see that IGN hase their review up and only gave it a 7.0 and it looks to me like they copied and pasted the xbox review and changed everything that said xbox to say xbox 360.  Don't go by that score as I think it is a much better game then they are giving credit.  One thing I've always disliked about the 2k baseball games was that the player were always stiff, like the batting animation just wasn't right but they seem to have fixed that in this version; at least to me.  If anyone has any questions about the 360 version ask and I'll try to answer.

The Michigan fight song is not listed on the 2k beats page in the 360 version, but when you play a game in their arena it is definately playing their fight song.

The more and more I listen to the fight song in the game for Ohio State, it appears they made an attempt at creating the song but it is a very lousy attempt.  Makes me angry that they were able to create the Michigan fight song pretty well but absolutely blew it for the Ohio State song.  I don't get it in years past the songs were dead on.

It appears that not all fight songs are in the game.  I'm an ohio state buckeye fan and their fight song is not in the game and I don't see anyway to get in either    Looks to be a good game but when it plays a song other than the ohio state fight song in ohio state's arena it definately takes away alot of the atmosphere for me.  There are fight songs in the game but many are left out

I was looking at my shipping info closer.... and you wouldn't fucking believe what I see.....

Every single package in the shipment shipped 2 to 3 day like I ordered.....

However....   the SYSTEM is showing STANDARD shipping.    Are you fucking kidding me???

Can my luck get any worse????

The system maybe shipping from a different warehouse that is close to you and they know it will get to you within your shipping timeframe option.  I was one of the lucky ones to get a system from online at circuit city before launch and chose their free shipping option.  It said that I could expect the package to arrive a week after thanksgiving, which was 2 weeks from the time i placed the order, but I got it the day before Thanksgiving biggrin   So I guess I wouldn't get too caught up in their shipping times and they know this is more than likely a christmas present so my guess is you will probably have it before christmas they just say it may not arrive before to cover themselves.

It looked to me like someone on the Eagles side made an awful lot of money with the way that game was handled at the end.  It looked like McNabb had never run a 2 minute offense in his life and that's just not true.  Every single Eagles fan was more than likely yelling at their TV screen the last 4 minutes of the game and the only ones that didn't have that sense of urgency was the Eagles themselves.  That game was thrown my friends no doubt in my mind!
