1  Non-Gaming / Trading Forum / Re: LF: XBox 360 power supply + cable on: June 21, 2008, 02:42:52 AM
MS sent me a power supply and cable with the replacement Xbox 360 a couple of months ago even though I only sent them the defunct console (which was my second Xbox 360 to die).

I could probably dig up the old one...should be laying around here somewhere.

2  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Jailbreaking an iPhone - discussion on: June 10, 2008, 07:24:11 PM
My daughter is using her iPhone on T-mobile without any problems and she is really thrilled with it -- it's replaced her Sidekick. Her boyfriend bought it for her about a month ago and performed the jailbreak so I'm afraid I don't know the specifics but I could ask. If nothing else, I know that it's possible.
3  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / DVD's, Extra Features, Whatnottery on: March 25, 2005, 05:26:06 PM
Amost never.  Might catch a bloopers reel if there is one (the wife likes to see mistakes, probably because she's used to so many from me) but that's about the extent of it. I watch the movie to be entertained and when it's over, it's over. Usually not interested in hearing why this scene was shot with a filter or that scene was almost cut.
4  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / I have reached a life decision of sorts. on: March 11, 2005, 08:22:05 AM
It may sound trite but you're only 22 -- you've got pretty much your whole life ahead of you. I don't think many people know what they're going to do with their lives at that age. And it takes some people longer than others to find it.

It takes a lot of courage to just up and leave the world you know, regardless of how miserable you think it is. Most people either can't or won't do it.

Trying different things is absolutely the right thing to do. Take some chances--they won't all pay off but you'll learn something from each one.

Good luck!
5  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / NWN Gold Manual on: February 11, 2005, 01:38:55 AM
The NWN Platinum manual doesn't seem to have any misinformation in it. It's a nice spiral bound manual that combines the info for the original game and the 2 expansions (including the prestige classes, epic rules, etc.).

Three installation keys (one for each game) were nicely printed inside the front cover. Definitely one of the better manuals out there.

This is for the DVD version of NWN Platinum. I'd imagine it's the same for the CD-ROM version.
6  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Discussion: Stranger's Wrath Review on: February 09, 2005, 10:52:02 PM
Excellent review. Does a very good job of explaining the mechanics of the game without giving too much away. I hadn't really been thinking much about this game but now it's on my radar screen and I may go pick it up.

7  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Jade Empire on: December 16, 2004, 06:38:10 PM
Thanks. I've purposely avoided too much info regarding the game but it's good to know that it's coming to the PC.

Still, this is one of those games that I'm looking forward to so much that I may not wait until the PC version came out.

Decisions, decisions....

Quote from: "warning"
And it's apparently now coming to PC as well. Sadly, it was one of the few reasons I considered purchasing an Xbox.

That could change things for me. I'd always heard this was going to be an Xbox exclusive title. I didn't see any mention of a PC version on Bioware's Jade Empire website but I didn't look very hard. Where did you see this?

I much preferred KOTOR on the PC than I did on the Xbox -- mostly because of the interface and graphics. In fact, I'm waiting for the PC version of KOTOR II before buying it. If Jade Empire is coming to to the PC, too, then I may end up waiting for that version, too.

Gamespot preview here

I try to minimize my exposure to previews but I've been looking forward to this one for a while, and have strongly been considering pre-ordering it (last time I pre-ordered a game was Diablo 2). The preview only strengthened my   yearning.

Seems like this one has been flying under the radar compared to the likes of Halo 2 and POP:WW.

The preview said it was due in March 2005 which could be a good marketing move since the wave of Christmas releases will have passed and been played out by then.

XBox:  Halo 2

Trying to stick with one game per platform. I find I'm more likely to finish them that way, although it doesn't always work.
11  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / [Review Discussion] Vampire The Masquerade - Bloodlines on: November 16, 2004, 06:17:10 PM
Great review. Changed my decision from "pick it up sometime" to "get it before the weekend" -- and I don't normally get games upon initial release.
12  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines Hands-On Preview on: October 29, 2004, 07:25:48 PM
Great writeup. Bloodlines was already on my list of games to get "someday" but the preview has me thinking of buying earlier. I normally don't buy games the first couple of weeks after release but I may make an exception for this one.

I didn't read after the spoiler warning. Did you encounter any bugs or issues you thought might be bugs?
13  Non-Gaming / Hardware / Software Hell / two wireless mice on same desk? on: October 21, 2004, 06:12:24 PM
I run two MX700 mice on two different computers at the same desk and have had no problems.
14  Non-Gaming / Hardware / Software Hell / Zonealarm ate my internet... AND explorer.exe on: October 21, 2004, 06:06:58 PM
Slightly off-topic, but one thing I like about Zone Alarm is its ability to detect (and prevent, if desired) outbound traffic. I've found several programs that try to access the internet without my knowledge, and it's probably benign but I like to control that sort of thing (it's my computer, after all). Can a hardware router limit or control outgoing traffic?
15  Non-Gaming / Trading Forum / Looking for Fallout Tactics on: October 19, 2004, 10:16:40 PM

I don't want to interfere with the ongoing proceedings with wankerjr, but if the two of you can't come to an agreement, please let me know. I have the game available, too.

I've heard that there's some way to open a bunch of tabs and set that particular configuration of tabs as your home page. How is this done?

Session Saver

Or (if you don't want to use session saver) open the tabs you want for your homepage(s) then go to Tool -->  Options --> General and click "Use Current Pages" for your Home page.
17  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / With no expectations Fable's not too shabby... on: October 15, 2004, 05:11:24 PM
I think it's an Xbox-exclusive title (for now, at least). I wouldn't think it would be that hard to port over to the pc, but I've not seen or heard of any such plans.
18  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / The Morrowind plugin DVD list [continued from GG] on: October 14, 2004, 07:48:16 AM
I've gathered all of the mods in Blackhawk's list.  I will d/l any other mods added to the official list. After that, I'd be happy to burn DVDs once Blackhawk has come up with a comprehensive readme.

What I have not done is install any of them -- since I have no experience with mods as of yet, I thought it best to wait for instructions from the experts.

Blackhawk did mention that he would create a master DVD to send to those willing to burn DVDs for others. I'd be more than happy to assist and can wait for that if it will minimize confusion.

The mods are about 520MB, so there's plenty of room for more.
19  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Desktop, what do you have (56k) on: October 13, 2004, 08:43:35 PM
I prefer ObjectDesktop now because it comes with all sorts of components. There's WindowBlinds, IconPackager (which is a utility to change all of your system icons in one shot), DesktopX (which basically lets you create a completely customized interface), ObjectBar (replaces the explorer/start bar), ObjectDock (similar to the yzDock utility I am using above), CursorXP, Logon Studio and Bootskin.

The downside of ObjectDesktop is that finding a theme that covers all of those apps isn't always easy. At least not a good one. Unless you are in to duplicating OS X, in which case, there is crap all over the place for that.

Thanks!  Sounds like these tools may be worth a bit of effort to learn them. I just may have to play around with them a bit.
20  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Desktop, what do you have (56k) on: October 13, 2004, 06:32:18 AM

What is the difference between StyleXP and WindowBlinds?  I missed the GG thread, and now you've got me curious. I recently d/l WindowBlinds but I haven't really done anything with it yet other than d/l some skins. Not sure if I like it yet or not.

21  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / The Morrowind plugin DVD list [continued from GG] on: October 12, 2004, 09:04:31 AM
Thanks for all of your work, Blackhawk (and everyone else who contributed to the original thread).  You certainly kindled my interest in the game with your discussion of all of the mods. Been in a gaming slump lately and I've never tried Morrowind; you've all made it sound excellent.

I'd be happy to burn DVDs once the makeup is finalized. Been looking for a reason to use the darn thing. I'll start working on d/l the mods listed above.
