She's your ex-. So there's nothing "disrespectful" about it - if it's over, it's over.
I'd just be very careful about not getting serious anytime soon. But as for just some fun dating, go out as soon as you want to (like tonight!).

Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / What are your picks for 10 best films of all time?

I'm not much of a fan of old classics. To me, the acting always seems overblown and cheesy. With that in mind... Lord of the Rings (the whole thing) Schindler's List Saving Private Ryan Patton Vanilla Sky Nosferatu (1922) Godfather Finding Nemo 2 others to be named later, when I'm awake.

Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Is Sacred fixed after the 1.7 patch?
|

The respawing is still there, it's just been toned down at lower levels. I'd disagree with LE - Sacred is a very good game. Speaking of which, hiya LE! I hadn't seen you since GG. You know I almost got banned for defending you and questioning Peacedog? Good to see you again, Blackadar. Thanks for the support in the past. NP amigo. If it's any consolation, DS was suspended at the time that GG shut down.

Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / R&P Decision

I can't say I'm pleased with this decision. It's not so much that there's not going to be a R&P forum but that broad topics are restricted as a policy. It indicates to me that CG is not going to be home for very long for some of us. If the policy is going to be that expressly restrictive, I don't see a whole lot of use hanging around because censorship tends to beget more censorship. While it's perfectly within CGs rights to do so, it's not necessarily what I want to be a part of.

Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [Road to Gold] Sorcery - Old School CRPG

I'm continuing this thread from Gone Gold's forums for those of you who were interested. Unfortunately I didn't save a copy of the thread, so any question/answers there are gone On a bright note, however, I do have a lot of news about the game. First bit of news: There will actually be two different games with the same ruleset released. The first game will NOT be first person, although it will still be a dungeon crawl; nor will it be 3-D. The second game will use the exact same rules, but will be a 3-D game in first person. Why this change? That leads to the second bit of news: I've added another programmer to the team, a good friend of mine at school. He has a 2-D tile based graphics engine already written, and it's that engine that will be used for the initial release. I will be developing my own 3-D engine at a later time (more towards my originally planned, 1 to 1.5 year schedule for that version). I'll have screenshots of the engine (not neccesarily screenshots of our game, though) by the end of the week. Thank God about the 1st person thing. How about giving us who get motion sickness some options with the camera to get our Diablo-style isometric view? I tend to puke when I play games in 1st person (and in some over the shoulder 3rd person views), which sort of prohibits me from playing them because I don't want chunks on my keyboard.

Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / The Skinny on Rich (and Gonegold somewhat) SEE 1ST POST EDIT
|
on: October 12, 2004, 11:17:26 AM

I gotta say, I fear for Rich's psychological health if his strategy for dealing with the albatross around his neck that GoneGold seems to have become to him is to shut it off with nary a word to us.
I could never begrudge Rich for the amazing amount of value I've derived from his creation over the years, it developed into one of those few internet places that made the other 90 percent of crap out there worth it just for its existence. But I've gotta say that an ending like this seems to be a spit in the face of all that, both for the users and moderators alike.
That said, I hope for nothing but the best for Rich and his family, and thank him for the many good, make that great times he has facilitated for me via GoneGold. Good post. I may add that I also wish the best for Rich and his family, but turning off the server is poor form. When I ran www.frontofficefootball.com and www.fofc.com, I realized that after a while, the site wasn't totally mine anymore. Sure, I could pull the plug, because the site physically belonged to me. But I also realized the site had grown to more than that - it was owned emotionally by the community who used it. So rather than pull the plug, I turned it over to someone else. So I can't say I agree with the decision, but what is done is done.

Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Three Days to Think About It

I too am disappointed. I've had a couple of user names over at GG and kept Blackadar as my moniker for the past 9 months or so.
Having run a large message board in the past, I can't fathom just pulling the plug. No matter how frustrated I got, I knew there were a lot of people who called it home. Regardless of my feelings, I felt that it would be discourteous to shut it down. So I finally just handed someone else the keys - lock, stock and barrel. And it's still running today.
I don't know if that's what has happened here. I had offered to help at GG a couple of months back, but didn't get a response. If there was an opportunity to rebuild it, I'd love to help. If not, this seems like a pretty good place.
I've never found Peacedog's moderating to be even or fair, so I doubt I'd go to his board. Nothing personal, just a difference in styles.
