Are you claiming the Jets or Giants, that do indeed play in NJ but are too embarrassed to say it?

Good work gellsy, you got to see their last win of the year.

COME AT ME BRO.

So this is probably just for Devil and me, but it's still awesome (and shows how much more Canada tries for their TV broadcasts).  The intro for Game 1 on CBC:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e_gLo8VlF3E&feature=youtu.be

That video needs to finish with "BECAUSE IT'S THE MOTHER F*CKING CUP!!!"

One thing you left off your description of Kopitar: dude has patience with the puck.  Most skaters will try to beat the goalie with a quick shot or deke themselves right out of a good shot, but he's got the patience (and skill) to make them fully commit while confidently skating right up to their doorstep.

What was the mix of Kings fans at the game last night?  There was a pretty big roar heard through the TV after Kopitar scored.

I want to give a special shout out to the Slingbox/iPad combo that allowed me to watch the game last night while I was at the Dodger game, and the understanding clients that took me. thumbsup

I agree that Saturday determines the series. If the Devils take it we should be looking at 6 or 7. If the Kings do, a sweep could be in order.

Nah. For some reason, the Kings get performance anxiety at home. We'll finish it in five on your ice.  Tongue

IMO Brown should definitely be suspended for that knee hit last night, but I'm betting that doesn't happen. I'm pretty much done with NHL officiating; between all the missed calls, incorrect calls, no calls followed by suspensions and the circus show Refs seem to love to perform during face-offs. I don't see such piss poor officiating in the WHL and even in the 2 AHL playoff games I caught it was better. Unless they attempt some overhaul during the off season, I'm definitely going to shift more of my hockey viewing elsewhere.

It wasn't a knee hit.  Brown's knee went between Rozsival's legs and they went thigh-to-thigh.  Rozsival looks like he might have hyperextended his knee because of the hit, and it was definitely late with a raised elbow, but it wasn't a knee knocker.  I think Brown will get an unofficial warning from the League, but nothing more.

I think the refs gave Brown a free pass because they called nothing on Rozsival for sitting on Brown for 5 seconds to keep him out of the play after he popped Smith's glove off.

I saw them just  few weeks ago on Opening Day for the Dodgers.  The 50th anniversary for the Beach Boys tied in nicely for the 50th of Dodger Stadium itself.  They did a live number or two as well as the National Anthem, and most of the "filler" music during the game was theirs.  My mom is an avid fan and I grew up with their music in the background so this touched the nostalgia chords in my head nicely.

Wouldn't the white out work better if the team they are backing was also wearing white??

Back before the NHL fucked it up, the home team always wore white.  The tradition came from that.

Ah I didn't know that.  I always wondered why the NHL was backwards that way.  Although I guess the NFL wears colors at home.

Yeah they changed it around the time they introduced the third jersey in order to sell more jerseys.  I personally hate it.
If my recollection is correct, in the old days the home team always wore the dark colored jerseys. I don't know when it changed to whites but I think it makes sense. The dark jerseys have a lot more personality than the white ones.
Heh, I think this conversation pops up every year.  The dark jerseys do have more personality, which is why I liked it better the old way.  Attending a Kings game now is going to see a mostly black team playing a mostly white team, when I used to see a whole host of colors come through.  Instead of seeing the Detroit and Chicago reds, or Edmonton and St Louis blues, I get black team and white team. Monotonous.

In the NFL, I think the home team gets their choice of jersey.  It explains why you normally see the Cowboys in their whites.

Oh, also you might want to consider that a 30 minute commute range is vastly different during rush hour and off peak times.  A trip that takes 10 minutes without traffic can easily take 30 in traffic.  Just a heads up. smile

Direction is a big factor too.  Morning traffic is primarily westbound and it can be hellish.

61  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Pasadena, CA? on: February 21, 2012, 01:25:12 AM
Pasadena is a ten minute drive for me and I grew up in the area.  It's in the middle of suburbia (L.A. style) and you'll have your choice of housing (apartments, condo/townhouses, houses).  Your <30 minute rule gives you a pretty huge area to look out outside of Pasadena, but the city itself is full of options and for the most part a pretty nice place to live.

What is LFM?  Looking for more?

Correct.  They've already got a partial group together and they need to flesh it out.

I think Bioware made the game too fun for the altoholics.  I'm having a hard time finding people for groups in the higher level areas but the lower levels are usually packed (at least on my server). mad

Arise, very old thread!

My 2.5 year old LP2475w gave up the ghost last night.  Came home and turned the computer on and no response from the screen.  Power light indicator appears to recognize when there is active input (stays green, turns amber with no input) but the built in menus never appear.  Sounds like a dead backlamp to me so I called HP about it.

As with TheAtomicKid, I was able to call HPs business support line since this is a business class product.  After a brief description of the problem, the only testing he had me do was try a different power cable.  After that, it's "what's your shipping address" and "look for it by Thursday".  The technician told me he was sorry about the problem but said he was happy for me that it happened with the monitor still under its three-year warranty.

Since the model is no longer in production, I'll very likely be getting a refurbished panel. This panel was flawless with no dead/stuck pixels so I'm hoping for the best.  So far, my customer support experience has been first rate. thumbsup

Gellar, are you 100% on that ten minute rule?  I've seen no indication that my apps shut off after that time span.  Apps I checked last night are still running in the background.  I imagine something like the Netflix app that needs to stream would have to work around that limit, and maintaining that constant connection to Netflix could easily kill the phone overnight.

Gratch, some people had issues when they did their 5.01 update over the air rather than through iTunes.  You may want to do a backup and then a full install of iOS again.

Or you can wait for the 5.1 update that's reached second beta stage.  No telling when that goes live though.

+1 to switching channels.  Also, see if there's a firmware upgrade from the router's manufacturer.  I had problems on one of my client's Linksys/Cisco routers until I upgraded it to the latest firmware.

If you're even a moderate gamer and it's still in the budget, I'd consider upgrading the video card to the next highest that Apple offers.  I think the 512MB of video RAM will be a bottleneck on that beautiful, gigantic monitor.  Skyrim just came out and it already sets 512 as the minimum and recommends 1GB.  You don't want to spend all that cash on a non-upgradeable system that's only hitting the bottom edge, video-wise.

Also, get yourself a gaming mouse.  The trackpad is impossible to use for certain types of gaming (though fantastic for near everything else) and the mouse is garbage for gaming (and inferior to the trackpad on the desktop, IMO).
73  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Let's talk Iphone on: November 24, 2011, 01:56:16 AM
That site said it could take up to 2GB, so yours may be a valid number.  Do you do much texting?  They listed the SMS database as part of "other" so if you text a lot and send/receive pictures that way it could load you down.  Save any of those pics off to the picture roll and start deleting texting history if it isn't important. Then try their trick again and see if it goes down.  The article didn't mention where e-mail and attachments are kept, but I don't see another category for it so it may fall under "other" as well.  Deleting unnecessary e-mails with large attachments could clear up space.

My iPhone 4s was set up as a new phone when I got it (rather than restoring my data from my 3G's backup) and my "other" is at .76GB already.  I wouldn't doubt Apple is trying to include a fix for this in their next iOS update since it isn't uncommon at all.
74  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Let's talk Iphone on: November 16, 2011, 08:28:17 AM
I've upgraded a couple phones and an iPad and had no problems.  A friend of mine upgraded hers and she ran into the "other" data issue  The "other" data type listed on iTunes fills up the phone's storage to the point where she couldn't even install the same apps she had on it before the upgrade.  Had to redo the process and set it up as a new phone.

My recommendation based on my anecdotes alongside leo8877's:  make sure you don't have a woman do the upgrade. ninja icon_lol
