Even if it is true, it's going to crush Verizon's network like it did ATT.

IMO, most people that are happy about a Verizon iPhone are so because of actual phone coverage, not because of data issues.  I can't wait.

Here to make things interesting.

Why should I have to shut my brain off to enjoy a movie? Shouldn't I be able to keep it on and enjoy it on my own aspects? Having a lot of people say "Oh just leave your brain at the door and just enjoy the movie". No, I don't want to, I don't know how to. So why should that be some requirement for a movie.

Do you leave your brain off for Die Hard? Or leave it off for Batman Returns/The Dark Knight? Transformers is a shit movie, Indy 4 was  shit a movie. I enjoyed all the other Indiana Jones movies and never had to shut my brain off or consider them "Just popcorn flicks" or bullshit like that.

On the other hand, if a movie like Die Hard or Temple of Doom engages all of your higher brain functions, perhaps the concept of "shutting your brain off" is a fairly fuzzy notion in the first place... stirthepot  icon_twisted

That's not what I meant at all but thanks for the snarky comment.

When people referr to a good action movie Die Hard is usually at the top of the list. Batman Returns is another good example. You don't have to turn your brain off to enjoy those movies. Yes there are plot holes and some things seem fantastical but that is a part of the movie and makes it enjoyable.

The Dark Knight engages you because it had a great villian in it. I'm basically saying that all the parts of the movies that create the whole make something that is engaging and you can get into.

Indy 4 had none of this, a big ass action sequence through a jungle that looked horrible, sprinkled with little bits of nostalgia for people that enjoyed the first movies and then, since he watched it now, fucking aliens. This was not true Indiana Jones. Good movie use every part to make it enjoyable, this doesn't require you to turn your brain off since you can enjoy it on different levels. Die Hard had comedy along with the action and a great protagonist. Batman was fun because a lot of people went in with an idea of what Batman is and Nolan showed ways that that idea can be changed. Yes if you nitpick things you can tear any movie apart.

Indy 4 didn't even need to be nitpicked to show how shitty it is.

Sweet Jeebus, please tell me you meant Batman Begins? saywhat

The Ivory Coast player rolling around on the ground clutching his face for 5 minutes when he didn't even get hit in the face was pathetic.   But I guess it was worth it since it gained his team a man advantage.  I've said it before and I'll keep saying it.  There needs to be more than 1 referee on the field.

I dont know if you ever played, but at times when it seems to others you were just grazed, you are *really* badly hurt... While a lot of players fake it, there's also a world of hurt going on out there.

Did you see the play?  There was no contact to the guy's face at all.

No I never played soccer.  But I did play and have coached some "American" football.  I have seen guys keep playing with dislocated fingers and broken noses without anywhere near the histrionics some of these professional soccer players perform from phantom elbows to the face.

I think you mistook the tone of my post, or maybe I should have added a smiley :-) Anyways, I only meant to educate since I know a lot of you guys dont know that much about the sport itself - Its a rough sport ,and while I've never played American Football I can tell you it *Hurts* at times to get clobbered out there :-)

I picked up tons of bruises and pains when I played soccer as a kid and there are plenty of legitimate times for yellow/red cards to be called.  But the rolling around on the ground clutching your face like you just got hit by a club is disgraceful.  These are supposed to be men.  The fact that the leagues and referees encourage this crap makes it very hard for me to enjoy the games (yet I still eagerly watch all the games I can).

I've been using a MS natural ergo elite for many, many years now.

I've seen some reports that you could clean them in the dishwasher. I don't have a dishwasher, so I just popped the keys off and washed the keyboard and dried it. Yeah, that didn't go over well. Keys kept repeating or not working or several keys would go off when I pressed one, etc.

While shopping for new keyboards I found that MS is really the only company which splits the keyboard. The Logitech just kinda curves it a bit. So I got the MS natural ergo 4000...

But I quickly discovered a fatal flaw with it - the space bar's only connector to the base is in the middle. So the middle is what has to go down for it to register. That's fine if you do press it in the middle but if you press it in the sides, which is where your hands actually are, it sticks because the leverage on the side not pressing down on the middle smoothly.

So the day I brought it home I said "screw this" and ordered another natural ergo elite from newegg. Just got it yesterday and returned the other. I like the updated design of the natural 4000, but if the space bar is bad then there's no point.

The space bar on my 4000 was stiff for probably the first month of use.  At this point I can press anywhere on the bar and it will trigger.  Playing games where jumping is tied to the space bar probably helped. icon_biggrin

I have a couple of the older MS Natural Keyboards that I was able to wash in the dishwasher after taking them apart.  It worked very well, though after the second time the keys and the surrounding keyboard are now distinctly different colors.  The board stayed the same color, but the keys turned a bit darker.

How many devices can I preorder?
AT&T stores will sell one iPhone 4 per person for new customers, and one device per household for new orders placed online. Existing customers may purchase one per eligible telephone number online or through our stores.

So it looks like if you want a family plan, you are screwed? (For pre-ordering)  This is the dumbest thing I have ever heard of.

Why? This isn't any different than any other store with limited stock limiting what customers can buy.  Given the demand of the previous phones, AT&T is just trying to make sure to spread the joy as well as take care of their existing customers.

People who complain about AT&T's network and want to move to Verizon need to know that the reason AT&T's network is so bad is because of the iPhone.  Verizon has seen somewhat of a hit with Droid launching and I think if they took on the iPhone, their network would take a much bigger hit.  The fact of the matter is that the iPhone really changed mobile networking and AT&T just wasn't ready for it.
Everyone I know that complains about AT&T's network does so about their phone coverage, not their data coverage, and that has jackshit to do with the iPhone.  Coverage in L.A. is horribly uneven.  I know were a small market city with no football team of our own, but you'd think they might take a chance on us and throw up another tower or two.

Does Apple have some vested interest in not ever making a CDMA (Verizon-compatible) version of the iPhone? That's what I wonder.

Guess it is because of cost. Verizon and Sprint are one of the very few last remaining carriers to use CDMA in the world. Verizon is quickly heading towards LTE, which is a standard derived from GSM, and which will also eventually be used by AT&T and everyone else.

So why bother developing, and manufacturing, a separate line of iPhone only for one carrier, and only for a year or two, when Apple could manufacture one line of iPhones for the entire world?
I don't buy this line of reasoning.  Verizon has a pool of 80+ million potential customers, plus those of us that hate AT&T but want our iPhone.  Sell me a CDMA version now and I promise I'll buy an LTE version when it become relevant in two years.  Given the fact that Apple loves their incremental upgrade cycle, this is printing cash for them way beyond whatever development they'd have to do.  I'd think they'd be all over it, unless contractually bound otherwise.

Kind of confused as to all the hype on this iteration of the iPhone. There is nothing in that changes the general experience that you can't get already on a 3GS. And all the cool features for the new iPhone won't make it into the iPad until the fall. Only thing I can see is the front facing camera which, unless you are a total business person or something, would be used once a year or something.

IMHO, this is really the first major revision of the phone as I consider the previous changes merely incremental.  I currently have the 3G iPhone and I'm stoked about the specs for the new phone.  I recently had the opportunity to do side-by-side tests between my phone and a clients 3Gs and I was blown away that the processor upgrade made such a huge difference in simple things like opening apps and rendering web pages.  If they are running the same processor as the iPad then I will be very excited about upgrading.  That front facing camera means nothing to you and me, but every teen girl out there is flipping out at being able to use it.  The screen resolution doubled, and that's hot.  Like Blackjack said, developers are going to love having a better device to work with.

I may not care to use Android personally, but I dig the fact that it's widespread usage has really prompted Apple to step up to the plate this time.
