Nope, think Zelda-esque top-down adventure.

...

It occurs to me the Wizards and Warriors may be top-down, hehe.

Nope. Never had the pleasure of playing that one.

Indeed it is!

Next up is from one of my favorite NES games. The game was fun and pretty much all of the music ruled.

Yeah it is Bach's "Toccata & Fugue in Dm", one of my all time favorite pieces.

So let's see... Ok. The game was created around Greek Mythology.
250  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Name That Tune on: October 07, 2004, 02:16:09 AM
Nope, but is sure would fit in Castlevania, wouldn't it. (Heck, it may be in CV, I don't recall.)

It wasn't composed for the game, so other games could have used it; though, I remember only two.

Edit: Here is the same song, with the intro http://www.pixel-wizard.net/junk/ntt/5b.mid

The other midi sounds more like the game, but didn't have the intro, just the fast part.

Whoops forgot the colon after "http"

Should work now.

Woo! That was fun game. I really sucked at it, though.

Here is one that might be a little tougher:

254  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Movie Quote Game on: October 05, 2004, 12:42:16 AM
I believe you are correct.

Quote
"Hey, you ain't one of them desert slashers, are you? Cut a person's body up and leave it out in the desert in little tiny pieces and sh*t, huh? Oh sh*t! We are in the f***ing desert! I'm in a car with a psycho freaky Jason hack-killer motherf***er! Hey, please don't kill me, freaky Jason. I said, please don't kill me, freaky Jason."

ROFL, I'd forgotten that one. I'm gonna have to rent it again.

Steve Oedekerk wrote that one didn't he? I think he played a security guard or something as well. He is funny as hell.
256  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Name That Tune on: October 04, 2004, 10:58:45 PM
Yup. That is the Tantegel Castle theme from Dragon Warrior.
257  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Movie Quote Game on: October 02, 2004, 10:31:10 PM
Didn't like that movie? Or did someone else quote it? I could go back to the old movies if you like =P

You're up.
258  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Movie Quote Game on: October 02, 2004, 05:42:48 AM
That was weird movie.

Next Quote:

"What are you doing?"
"I'm taking over a TV network."
"Finish up, honey, and get to sleep."
259  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Name That Tune on: October 02, 2004, 03:00:15 AM
Nope, not a Castlevania.

In this game you are the heir of the great warrior Erdrick (If I remember correctly.)

Hehehe, Woo!

Ok, this next one is a very cool piece, and a personal favorite. Not sure how hard it'll actually be.

Yup, I can confirm that. It is indeed Star Tropics.

I love music, and I like these movie quote and video-game-screenshot games, so I put two and two together...

Basic Info:

1. Songs should be in MIDI format. MP3 is OK, so long as the size doesn't greatly excede 1MB (this for the poor broadband-less guys and gals).

2. Music does not have to be composed for the game.

3. If the music was not composed for the game, you get extra points for naming the piece and composer. If it was composed for the game, you get extra points for naming the "area" the piece is most prominently played, and also for naming the composer.

4. Points are worthless slywink But you will get "mad props."

5. If I'm not allowed to start these threads. I apologize  biggrin

To get things going, here is an easy one.

270  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Movie Quote Game on: September 24, 2004, 05:15:45 AM
Correct.

I don't know how the rules work, I asked for more specificity simply because there are quite a few versions of the "Christmas Carol"

I haven't a clue if the quote actually appears in other versions, I haven't seen any of them in so long (I watched the Muppet's version this evening... well parts of it)

WBS may have meant the Muppet's version, I don't know.

Bah, I'm terrible at this game =\
271  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Movie Quote Game on: September 24, 2004, 04:39:13 AM
DerkEl: Nope, nope and nope slywink

Whiteboyskim, more specific. It is "A" Christmas Carol, though.
272  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Movie Quote Game on: September 24, 2004, 03:19:14 AM
The answer is Dial "M" for Murder.  The remake(titled: A Perfect Murder) starred Michael Douglas, Gwyneth(sp?) Paltrow, and Viggo Mortensen. I didn't care for the remake nearly as much as the original, but it was still good.

Google

"For the same reason that a donkey with a stick behind him and a carrot in front always goes forwards and never backwards."

to verify (quotation marks included.)  I'm surprised my remembrance of the quote was as close as it was (made it very easy to check it, though).

Next quote:

"You're a little absent-minded, spirit."
"No, I am a LARGE absent-minded spirit!"

What shall I do? I don't want to keep the game tied up too long. Should I wait another day and then give the answer?

279  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Movie Quote Game on: September 18, 2004, 11:55:27 PM
Ok, how about another hint. Ummm. Hmmm. In the movie the protagonist discovers that his wealthy wife is having an affair, he himself is not wealthy and he fears that she will leave him. So he concocts what he believes will be the perfect crime, the perfect muder.
280  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Movie Quote Game on: September 17, 2004, 04:31:06 PM
Nope. Though, it would seem to fit in that movie.

This movie is a good deal older than that one. It was "remade" not too long ago, and co-starred a certain soon-to-be king (not a real king slywink).

EDIT - Note: The quote did not appear in the remake.
