Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Best SRPGs?

it might've been a combination of it being my first gameboy game & not having played the original, but even after playing fft since, i still prefer it. i liked the 'fairytale' atmosphere, & the emphasis on growing your own characters over providing you with ready-mades (& then there's the 'perfect' soundtrack - better shut up now before i'm tempted to replay)... Hehe, not gonna aruge with that. I am surprised you liked the original less. Thats personal taste for ya

on the other hand, it's my favorite of all of'm (go figure Smile )... Yeah, many people here liked it very much. I wanted to like it (played FFT atleast five times.) It was just wholly disappointing (for me atleast.) I'm hoping for a real sequel to FFT on DS (touch screen!)

Definitely Fire Emblem. There are two for the GBA (in the USA,) and of course there is one on the way for GameCube as well.
You could try Final Fantasy Tactics: Advance, but I think it sucks, doesn't even begin to compare to the PS1 game (doesn't compare to any SRPGs period, really.)
I'd also recommend Shining Force for GBA, it is very much like Fire Emblem.

To me, it sounded like they were willing and eager to be with the boys...oh, I am sorry, I meant "men".
Toe, apparently, has thing for little girls himself. Congratulations, you're the "knight in shining armor" for a couple of perverts. Stand proud, jackass.

Reading form that one article, I don't think its that clear cut. This line gets me, "the girls had indicated to her that they had sex." So she wasn't there and when she returned, they had to tell her, she didn't figure it out on her own. The way it reads, it sounds liuke the girls were ok with it at the time. Yeah the law is the law and 13 is way too young but the details don't sound right. Is it possible the girls just said they had sex or maybe only one of them did? I need a lot more details before I want to throw away the key. Yeah she didn't see because the whore was out buying them friggin alcohol. Nice Alibi.

Thats it? That day was "among the worst in your life"? Come on. Some poor planning, manual labor, and a jackass in the movies? I was waiting for you to tell me your entire family perished gruesomely in housefire or something.

The real losers here are the idiots who played along with this- the two guys. 18 and 19, headed to PRISON, even if they get only a couple of years- you know they're gonna wind up being punked out. I bet the mom and girls hooked up with them because they were 'cute', not because they were hardcore badasses. So when they get locked up, that 'cute' is gonna be their downfall. Sorry, I don't have any sympathy for someone willing to have sex with a child. The two guys and the mother all deserve far more than what they'll get for this.

Hehe, yeah it isn't that you're dissapointed, its that I have read about it every time I come in here Like I said, I am, much to my shame, a hot-head. But more than that having to deal with the constant bashing of my favorite system this gen has worn on me. I don't really have a problem with anyone here, but I know I've gone off a few times, and generally speaking I'm sorry for each occurence. I keep doing it, though... you'd think I'd learn by now

Disappointed to not hear anything about a Fire Emblem DS. I'm sure one will come out eventually, but you'd think a DS Fire Emblem would be a nice complement to the GC title releasing later this year. Hehe, me too. I'd love to get a Fire Emblem on the DS. I'd like to hear more about Mistwalker's SRPG as well.

This is where we seperate - I got the most enjoyment out of my XBox in the current gen. Being a sports/racing game loser, MS was the place to be for my games. That, combined with Live, HD support, the Hard drive and digital audio meant about 80% of my gaming time was on my XBox. See this is why I'll get so up-in-arms. There is no objectivity in gamers(myself included.) It isn't so much that I'm a die-hard Nintendo fan-boy, I'll be in line to scream if it does something stupid. But I enjoyed the GC so much this gen that everytime someone cries "kiddy," or "same game," or "milking," they are basically saying "You like stupid games. You're a little robot that will play anything Nintendo commands you to play." It is an insult to me. I just want to play the games I like, but I'm a hot-head so everytime I come for my news and get slapped in the face I go ballistic. I just want people to shut up and play their games, and stop trying justify insecure purchases by reaming the stuff I like at every opportunity. Does this mean I have an allegience to MS? NO WAY!! I'll drop them like a bag of rocks if something else comes along. I have no loyalty! Believe me, when Nintendo stops making games I like I'll drop 'em. Just ask Sega. I WANT the Revolution to kick ass!!! They've been kinda quiet since they broke with Prince! Haha, if only Prince had extended that same courtesy I'm keeping your soul, though! I may be little more than a hollow shell, devoid of life and animation. But watch your back, I'm coming for my soul. (Just ignore the loud moaning, and raucous shuffling of my feet, you're safe, I swear.)

Belgedin-
I'm the last guy to be calling a fanboy. Especially against Nintendo. I'm typing this in a room with 2 GBAs, a DS and a purple GC all within arms reach. All I'm saying is that I'm dissapointed in the last round of Nintendo's offerings. Might seem out of line to you, but I think even the biggest fanboy (maybe yourself) might even admit that the GC era was somewhat of a dissapointment. Definitely myself. However I have to say the XBox is undoubtedly the most disappointing system this generation. I own roughly 15 games, two of which have kept me even remotely entertained(that were also exclusive.) I won't bother contrasting libraries, suffice to say I own way too many games all around, but the Cube has been the most enjoyable system this generation, without a doubt. There were definitely some gems on PS2 (DW8 will probably be added to the list in short order.) The Xbox was almost a complete waste of money, with nothing in the future to keep me interested. I think even the biggest XBox fan-boys (click the memberlist link I kid) can admit the Xbox was somewhat of a disappointment (See, works both ways) But yeah, I'm a fan-boy, won't deny it; I don't let it get in the way of playing my PS2 or XBox, but I will get medievil on your butt if you give me crap about Nintendo. Especially when you're not in that MGS rehashathon thread crying havoc =P Your soul is already gone! Crap.

Pot. Kettle. Don't you forget it. However, I don't need to go jumping threads every friggin chance I get, with "Microsoft/Sony is teh lame! Look, same game!" Your soul is mine, Devil. Sports, sports, sports! No dude, the formula for success is to create a sequel that offer the gamer what they loved about the original game, while also providing new gameplay elements that gives the gamer a reason to purchase the new game, instead of merely replaying the original. I can't really think of any games that have done that on PS2 or XBox. Halo 2: Same game. Jak: (Add guns, woo) R&C: (Add more guns, woo) Sly 2: Not really. Some of those I still enjoyed, mind you. I'm just trying to se exactly how Nintendo is failing and these others are succeeding. I'll be the first to sigh when I hear about a new Mario Party; they don't really do anything for me now. But that is one of the few that I think Nintendo(and Nin isn't really highly involved with MP anyway) has gone overboard with.

Hardly. Nintendo has been doing it for nearly two decades now - far longer than either Sony or MS. When it comes to flogging the same franchises over and over again, Nintendo takes the cake.
And it's not only sequels now - it's the exact same thing we played a dozen years ago, we just get to pay again for the privilege. Like the $20 NES "reissues", except on an even larger scale. Nintendo has lost so much traction and suffered quite a bit of backlash over the past few years because they're relying on the same old same old... and now they're going even further down that hole. Sorry, still applies to every developer out there. Nintendo has been around 20 years, of course they have more sequels, but they're no worse about it than anyone else. Now, you can keep being a blind fan-boy, or you can open your eyes and say hello to reality. As for Sony's undeniably numerous sequels on the PS2, I just think that the developers have done a better job of adding to the games, changing things, improving(?) on the previous entries. So the formula for success is... Make game > Make game again, add guns > Make game again, add more guns I think I get it now. Makes sense.

Devil,
Why don't you go enjoy DMC4, or GT5, or Daxter, etc, etc. Nintendo is no more guilty of "rehashes" (as you call them) than Microsoft and Sony, et al.
You're frustrating me, it is obvious you're not remotely objective in any of your criticism.

It seems pretty obvious this isn't all the Rev has going for it. We still don't know anything about the controller. So far I'm happy, I would love to get back my old S/NES collections. And the indie dev thing could be HUGE. I think the Rev still has something up its sleeve, though. Oh, and according to PGC the new Smash Bros. is online! O_o For every first-tier title from Nintendo there were what, four to five PS2 and XBox titles in the same time span?
Oh yeah, the XBox definitely has 4x the number of top tier titles GameCube has  That isn't even true of the PS2.

A quote from PlanetGameCube.com · Freedom of design: A dynamic development architecture equally accommodates both big-budget, high-profile game “masterpieces” as well as indie games conceived by individual developers equipped with only a big idea. O_O

And there's the Revolution - you can purchase ALL non-handheld games EVER created for ALL Nintendo systems into the console.
"So we can feel young again."
And it'll be ALL titles - not just Nintendo ones, based on the titles he listed. Don't screw around. Is that true? I'll crap my pants if that is true.

So far Microsoft and Sony have left me unenthused. I'm kindof interested in the PS3, but the 360 really doesn't have any mindshare at this point.
Waiting for Nintendo to blow my mind.
I'm sure I'll end up getting all three, as usual. Right now the Revolution is the only thing I'm really interested in, though.

Why does Sony still insist on having the D-pad under your thumb instead of the left stick? I mean, MS and Nintendo figured out that every game uses it for the main control input, yet Sony still puts it down in the middle. I really don't get it. Was wondering the same thing.

Well, it can't suck any worse than Halo 2 did. I'm done with that series, man. Halo is simply ass, pure and simple. The first one is great up to the first encounter with the Flood in the swamp, then is just boring until that final mission. Halo 2 is flat-out awful start to finish. I might play it when it's available for rental, but Bungie's since lost me as a full-price paying customer. Amen to that. Microsoft is gonna have to do better than Halo 3 to get into my pocket. Mistwalker (it is Mistwalker right?) is the only thing keeping me even remotely interested in the 360.
