By the way, I know I don't post here often, but I read everyday. And Ron knows me, we did martial arts together briefly in Arizona under Master Roberts many, many years ago. Just in case I seem like a scambot or something.
Oh, and I would also be okay with a trade + cash. I'm specifically looking for a 2012 MacBook Air with 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD, and 2.0GHz Intel Dual-Core Core i7 That + $900 (OBO)

Non-Gaming / Trading Forum / MacBook Pro 15 w/ Retina display + games [SOLD]

Hey guys, I'm looking to downgrade to a 13in Air. Been using my iMac primarily for work/development, and the Pro is just overkill for my mobile needs. The Machine: - 2012 MacBook Pro with Retina Display - 2.6GHz Quad-core Intel Core i7 - 16GB 1600MHz DDR3L SDRAM - 512GB Solid State Flash Storage - NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M with 1GB of GDDR5 (plus Intel HD 4000) - Perfect condition; includes all original packaging and accessories Special GT Offer: - ~90 oldschool DOS Adventure Games + some miscellany (Kings Quest, Quest for Glory, Broken Sword, etc, etc...) packaged nicely in custom AppleScripts to run just like a Mac App (appears in Launchpad and everything.) They are on there, and I'll leave them there(well, put them back after restoring to factory settings.) Full list below + a screenshot of one my launchpad folders containing some of the games. Note: also available for pickup in the Seattle / Bellevue / Kirkland / Bothell / Everett area in Seattle. Can meet at an Apple store to have an employee inspect the computer. Looking to get $2550+insurance on shipping(if you want it). Paid $3100 originally in August (including tax.) So, about $550 savings. Open to reasonable counter offers, but it is already a big discount. Apple Warranty good until August, but no issues at all with the computer. Shoot me a message or e-mail or reply. Whatever protocol is. Game List: 11th Hour 7Th Guest Abuse Alone in the Dark 1 Alone in the Dark 2 Alone in the Dark 3 Another World Beneath a Steel Sky Blackthorne Broken Sword 1 Broken Sword 2 Companions of Xanth Darklands Day of the Tentacle Dragonsphere Dreamweb Flight of the Amazon Queen Full Throttle Gabriel Knight - Sins of the Fathers The Beast Within Gobliiins 1 Gobliiins 2 Gobliiins 3 Indiana Jones - The Fate Of Atlantis Indiana Jones - The Last Crusade Indiana Jones And The Temple Of Doom Jill of the Jungle 1 Jill of the Jungle 2 Jill of the Jungle 3 Commander Keen 1 Commander Keen 2 Commander Keen 3 Commander Keen 4 Commander Keen 5 Commander Keen 6 Commander Keen 7 Kings Quest 1 Kings Quest 2 Kings Quest 3 Kings Quest 4 Kings Quest 5 Kings Quest 6 Kings Quest 7 Kyrandia Kyrandia 2 Kyrandia 3 Lands Of Lore - The Throne Of Chaos Leisure Suit Larry 1 Leisure Suit Larry 2 Leisure Suit Larry 3 Leisure Suit Larry 5 Leisure Suit Larry 6 Laura Bow 1 - The Colonels Bequest Laura Bow 2 - The Dagger of Amon Ra Lighthouse Lode Runner Loom CD Loom Maniac Mansion Monkey Island 1 Monkey Island 2 Monkey Island 3 Phantasmagoria Police Quest - In Pursuit of the Death Angel Police Quest 2 - The Vengeance Quest for Glory I - So You Want to be a Hero Quest for Glory II - Trial by Fire Quest for Glory III - Wages of War Quest for Glory IV - Shadows of Darkness Sam and Max - Hit the Road Shannara Sherlock Holmes - Serrated Scalpel Sherlock Holmes 2 - The Rose Tattoo Simon the Sorcerer 1 Simon the Sorcerer 2 Skate Or Die! Vim is excellent. You don't need brew to get the GUI version though.
I've been using Sublime Text 2 lately with the Vintage and VintageEx packages installed (makes it very close to Vim, but still missing some functionality.

Twice I got an error trying to login.
It throws an error if you haven't agreed to the new terms of service. You have to do it on your desktop, the app just bails. It would be nice if there were ANY notifications for new messages, game requests, etc.

Congrats - I just updated my old Macbook Pro for one of the new 13" MBA's as well.
Here's some of the Apps that I use a lot
Twitter client Reeder for Google Reader (seconding GuidoTKP's recommendation) Adium for Instant messaging Skitch for capturing/sharing screenshots MacVim for most of my software development Xcode for programming ios OmniGraffle for creating diagrams Spotify / iTunes for Music Toast for moving videos to/from my Tivo Handbrake for "backing up" DVD's ScreenFlow for capturing screencasts
I also order a lot of stuff online so I use the "Delivery Status" dashboard widget to keep track of all my packages I don't play a lot of games on my Mac - but I've been contemplating re-activating an old World of Warcraft account once I start traveling again.
Thats a pretty good list. Xcode is essential for development on OSX/iOS. But MacVim is even more essential. Hehe. I would also add the following: Dropbox DTerm - Brings up a little input box that lets you execute shell commands in whatever folder is in the active Finder window. Go2Shell - In Finder, when you launch this app it will launch the Terminal(shell) with the current directory set as the folder in the Finder window. VLC Player - Plays tons of video formats StuffIt Expander - Great for all your unzipping/unraring/un-anything needs img2icns - Takes an image and converts to an .icns file. Great for replacing stupid icons for your apps or creating icons for custom AppleScript Applets and what have you. iCombiner - Combines PDFs with PDFs, images with PDFs, etc. Good for adding covers to your PDF books/papers (like the Apple Developer Docs). I like to have nicer covers. Also good for ebooks that chopped up into multiple PDFs or whatever. ColorSnapper - Lets you "eyedrop" colors from anything on your screen. Zooms in so you can get the color you want. Pretty neat. Humble Bundle 3 Boxer and ScummVM - I've got 93 high quality DOS games working with these two emulators including basically all of the Sierra/Lucas Arts classics(full voice) among other gems like Sherlock Holmes, Kyrandia, Broken Sword, Last Express, etc. MagicPrefs - Not really necessary with OS X Lion on a MacBook. But if you decide to use a Magic Mouse this app is still really nice. Quicksilver - Acts like SpotLight, but you can also configure lots of custom hot key triggers (like, maybe, cmd-shift-F to launch a Finder window. Don't know why there isn't a default key combo for launching Finder.)

Way to go Jimmy! Once you get one, they start growing FAST. You'll be knocking them out 10-20 at a time before very long. I've been doing about one WOD a week, sometimes two. I'm pursuing some other ideas, trying to build up my basic strength rather than my muscle endurance(CrossFit)
I did Grace last cycle and got 4:03 I think, as Rx'd. I did a modified Cindy today(subbed 10 one legged squats for the fifteen regular.) I didn't do the Power Cleans, I've had some issues with my back and I'm laying off max effort Oly's. Last time I got to 225lbs, though.

With times like yours, I'm not surprised. You'd have to be looking pretty fit. It is an awesome feeling to have that shock and awe from people you haven't seen in ages. Its doubly great, because you know you muscles are equipped to do REAL work, they aren't just for show.

Wow, there is no way I could even come close to doing that. If I started in the morning I would be lucky to finish before the next WOD. Some day though...
I would have said the same thing 8 months ago, when I first started. I think I got around 54 minutes then. There are guys in my gym that will be under 20... Legitimately under. Hehehe, tear it up, Jimmy. Its rough, but you feel pretty accomplished lying on the ground afterward.

Hell yeah, dude. You'll be doing handstand pushups in no time. Now you might want to try hold a one handstand for as long as possible, and then try a few static positions with your arms bent. I'm working on getting away from the wall with my handstands, but it is proving difficult I'm going to have to make up this WOD and Today's (Angie) Monday and Tuesday. My gym is closed for business while everyone is at the qualifiers in Flagstaff. I still have to make up DT, too.

I had never heard of CrossFit until this thread and now I am interested in it. I wish there was a location near me (Northwest Valley) but I can't find anything. But I guess that is ok because I think I will start out going it alone, getting the motions down first. Maybe if I feel that I want to step it up I will find a location to go to on occasion.
Yeah, the gym I go to is probably the closest. You might be better served going to a facility now, rather than later. One of the good things about the gym is there are a good number of people that can help you master the movements (and of course, the competitive atmosphere we cultivate really helps push you to the next level). Make sure to watch the videos for any that moves you are unfamiliar with, pay attention to every detail, arms, legs, alignment, all that stuff.

No kidding. They were practically shoulder presses after all the box jumps, I couldn't get enough power from the hips, they just collapsed. There's a couple of guys in my gym(the owner and co-owner) that I expect would get 5+ rounds, but they are resting up a bit in preparation for the qualifiers for this years games.

Its simple. Quit acting like she is different than one of your guy friends. She isn't. Not yet anyway. Don't ask a lot questions that she gets asked everytime she goes out and then pretend that you're interested. Ask her questions SHE has to think about, otherwise you are going to get the auto-pilot. Don't let her do all the talking unless she is doing it with passion, she can have a boring conversation with anyone.
Coffee shops are great, you don't have to pay a great deal (or at all, for that matter.)
Get her in your element. Invite her out with your guy friends and some of their girls or something. You don't need to be talking to her in order to communicate to her. Prove you're not a social outcast.
And for the love of God, if they call asking to see you again, call back.

Hey guys. I'm trying to figure out the meaning a french phrase I heard today. I don't speak french at all and I only heard it. It sounded like "keska too fay" No idea how to spell any of it, and the context probably isn't helpful since it seemed rather random. Any ideas?

Just stumbled upon this pic and figured it could be used to change the subject away from the infamous Paris: (and no, I have NO idea where it came from - just that somebody used it as their avatar) That's obviously Tenacious D from The Pick of Destiny. Which I haven't even seen, but as I said it's obvious. Actually its from the music video "Tribute," which is a tribute to "the greatest song in the world" which they played in Pick of Destiny to Defeat the devil. They forgot the song, but wrote a tribute to it. And Tribute predates the Pick of Destiny. Cool, huh?
