Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Forza this Friday? (2/5)

Anybody want to get some racing in this Friday night? If so, I was thinking we would predetermine what tracks and car classes we would run so everyone would have time to familiarize themselves with them ahead of time. We could pick 5 or 6 tracks to keep it simple but with that many it hopefully wouldn't get stale in one night.
Let me know if there are any takers.

"He didn't hit ya, he didn't bump ya, he didn't nudge ya. He rubbed ya. And rubbin' son, is racin'"
I'm not here to stir the pot, I had a lot of fun playing with this crew the other night...even if there were only 3 of us. But I'm interested in real racing, and in real racing, there's a little contact. What there isn't is a blatant disregard for other racers. I don't think the races for this crew should be all about winning. I think what the goal should be is to get a big group together of varying skill levels, and I think it would be most fun if we had at least a couple people involved within each skill level. That way, sure each person would be interested in winning, but there could also be competition between those at the lower skill levels, just as there are between those at the top. Much like in a Formula 1 race...there are battles going on all around the track. A guy in 12th is trying to pass the guy in 11th. The guy in 19th is trying to get to 18th. It's not just everyone trying to get 1st place. But I'm not going to be having fun if I'm expected to let someone pass me, unless they've successfully outbraked me at a corner. That's just me. I want to race. I want the person behind me to have to pass me. And on the flip side, I don't want the person in front of me to give way. I want to be able to pass that person. And if I can't, I don't pass him. Plain and simple.
A good example of this was the other night, we raced the Mugello track. Hark was in 1st, CPU in 2nd, and I in 3rd. Hark was well ahead, and I was left to battle with the CPU. I tracked him for at least 2 laps, finally with a clear chance to outbrake him, I took it and successfully passed him, and ended up catching up to Hark later on. That's racing. That's fun. I'm down for that any time and I don't mind helping to set it up. Anybody that wants to race, hit me up on XBL (or here, but i'm more likely to get a message first on XBL).
That said...I will play by whatever rules anybody wants to.

Everyone, thanks for your patience in letting Ike and I get our game in. And what an awesome game it was. For the most part the Eagles shut Tomlinson down. It was when the Chargers got into a hurry-up style Run-N-Shoot offense they started racking up yards close to the end of the first half, which finished 10-7 with Ike scoring a touchdown late to pull to within 3. In the second half turnovers cost the Chargers 10 more points. Ike's red zone defense really saved the day, he didn't let the score get out of control. 20-7 Eagles with about 6 minutes left. The Chargers Run-N-Shoot Offense put 7 more up on the board with just a couple minutes left...20-14 Eagles. Then a couple traded turnovers followed by a stalled Eagle drive set the stage for a photo finish. Ike drove down the field and scored the go ahead TD with about 26 seconds left. Despite having all 3 timeouts, the Eagles couldn't get anything back, and I threw an INT to end it. 21-20 Chargers. Great game. It was worth the wait...for us at least

Yeah I'll hop back in. I will try to check GT more often so I know when the week is advancing. Sorry again octavious...I'm online a lot so we def should have been able to play. See u in the playoffs? And to make up for it I WILL trade u vick if u want since Eli died.
Cool maybe we can work something out where I ship his sorry butt back once Eli gets out of his coma. The problem we ran into is that I never go on Xbox Live unless I'm playing a game and check here a lot. You seem to do the opposite. Yeah...I can't check GT from work unless I use my iphone, which isn't very fast. So, if it's cool with everyone in the league, I will definitely trade you Vick. Go ahead and make some kind of offer and I'll send him packing.

The game started with a LONG drive by the Chiefs. But on 3rd and 3 with 29 seconds remaining in the first quarter, Cassel is picked by Samuel...the funny thing is, while I'm running the ball back for a TD my wife tells me to get my baby's milk from the warmer. So I pause in the middle of the runback. When I get back and unpause it...well, watch and see for yourself. http://www.easports.com/media/play/video/9291707Pretty funny after the fact, when I dumped in this 5 yard TD pass to Leonard Weaver a couple minutes later (just in time before McNabb gets creamed)...7-0 Eagles http://www.easports.com/media/play/video/9291773The Chiefs then had a drive stall and the Eagles get the ball back. Put together a nice drive and McNabb dumps off to L. McCoy for another 5 yard TD pass...14-0 Eagles http://www.easports.com/media/play/video/9291744Here's the part of the game I can't believe EA can't get right. The Chiefs receive the ball with 25 seconds left. Run the ball 3 times but call a timeout after EACH PLAY. So...I get the ball back with 3 timeouts and about 17 seconds left...even though I don't need any...here's the very next play...It's a beauty, play action, pump fake, BOMB........21-0 Eagles at halftime http://www.easports.com/media/play/video/9291795Second half Eagles controlled the ball and added two more scores on a 46 yard TD pass to Maclin and a 67 yard run by Westbrook. The Chiefs added some garbage points in the 4th quarter. 35-7 Eagles over Chiefs.

I've heard some concerning news that the upgrades to sticks, skates, and helmets come at the cost of having your player look like a complete idiot (i.e., camouflage helmets, rainbow skates, etc.). I have an idea as to why EA would do this, so that people will get an idea for your skill level just by looking at you, but seriously...i HATE this idea. I hope it doesn't end up ruining the game for me. The demo was pretty sweet, so I'll definitely be picking it up.

Now I feel like a huge dickface. Fuzzy quit the league. The guy, who is one of the nicest guys I've ever spoken with, got slandered solely because he wasn't a member of these boards. Everyone, including me, jumped to the conclusion that he didn't make the effort to play his game with Ike. I'm pissed at myself more than anything for not communicating better with him. Can we just hold up and try to get him back in the league?

i have to say i'm so confused as to why he hasn't made the effort to get in touch with Ike. I'd say go ahead and kick him and then after Ike plays the game maybe he can rejoin if he's interested in keeping up with it. Next time I get a hold of him I'll try to figure this whole thing out.
My brother, Mike0368 joined today I think as the Vikings. He played his game. Send him a friend invite if you get a chance. I have a direct line of communication with him so I'll keep an eye on his games as well as mine.

Just played my week two game against the visiting Saints. 1st quarter...Saints received and drove methodically down the field. I was finally able to stop Brees in the endzone with some timely pressure. They settled for a field goal, but took 5:30 off the clock. 2nd quarter...Starting with the ball late in the first quarter, I had a really nice drive myself, reaching the 7-yard line. But then Jonathan Vilma made a sick one-handed interception on a bullet pass and took off 93 yards for a touchdown...a hopeless McNabb chasing from behind. http://www.easports.com/media/play/video/8797101On my next possession, I again drove down the field. I stalled a bit and faced a 3rd and 10, and came up with this play for a first down... http://www.easports.com/media/play/video/8797103Got in the red zone again, but this time it wasn't Vilma but Prioleau who put a stop to things...where did he come from?!? http://www.easports.com/media/play/video/8797108After stopping the Saints on three straight running plays and killing the clock with a timeout with 54 seconds left in the half, DeSean Jackson returns a punt to the Saints 20 yard line. http://www.easports.com/media/play/video/8797149A couple plays and a pass interference call later, Westbrook broke through for a 1 yard touchdown run. After an uneventful 3rd quarter, the Saints drove the ball but I was able to stop them in the red zone, forcing them to kick. They increased their lead to 13-7 with about 5 minutes left. I then took off driving the field yet again, but this one ended with a Fujita interception with 2:45 seconds remaining. I'm thinking game over...but I stopped the Saints offense and forced a punt. 1:45 and a long field to go I ended up with a 4th and 6 on the 12 yard line. 14 seconds left. This was the result... http://www.easports.com/media/play/video/8797128touchdown Kevin Curtis with 10 seconds left! To be completely honest...I picked this play by accident but had no timeouts leftto correct my error. I was really bummed and knew Curtis was my only hope on this play. luckily it was a linebacker in the zone and Mcnabb led Curtis perfectly for the diving catch. I narrowly escaped an 0-2 hole...bring on the Chiefs!
