1481  Non-Gaming / Hardware / Software Hell / Re: Best Netbook? on: March 30, 2009, 10:24:57 PM
I ended up grabbing a 1000HE for my wife. We've only had it a couple days but it's worked nicely so far.

Hah! Us HD-DVD early adopters get our revenge!
1483  Non-Gaming / Hardware / Software Hell / Re: Best Netbook? on: March 23, 2009, 09:15:02 PM
Anyone have experience with these with 1gb vs 2gb? Does it make a significant difference (yes, I realize it is only 20 bucks).
1484  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Reaper, Season 2 on: March 17, 2009, 11:18:41 AM
Missed them... is there a place to see the eipsodes online?
1485  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Worms out 3/7/07 on: March 10, 2009, 05:50:17 PM
Hehe, I'll be out of town until the weekend... but I could be up for it sometime. Haven't played in a while.
1486  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Star Ocean : The Last Hope HELP!! (Spoilers} on: March 10, 2009, 02:11:52 AM
I think I was late 40s or 50 or so (i had to level up for it). I had a much harder time with the fight and even when I beat it I only had two characters left. (I played Edge, Meracle, Reimi, and Lymle). Suggest hopping around a lot when they all focus on you, try to get them down to one guy and heal everyone up before the next wave.

For leveling up, use the save point and heal point right before the fight. Go kill everyone, come back and heal/save. Repeat as necessary.
1487  Non-Gaming / Steals and Deals / Re: GoGamer Madness - Empire:TW $36, others on: March 07, 2009, 10:41:03 PM
I grabbed Sam and Max for that price.
1488  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Star Ocean : The Last Hope Impressions on: March 07, 2009, 10:37:04 PM
Hehe, a bit further in Sarah doesn't say much which helps. I hit the phantoms a bit ago, that was the first time I'd have to go level up for quite a while. So many rounds of people to fight...
1489  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Government jobs on: March 04, 2009, 03:45:12 AM
Doesn't help right now, but during grad school an option is interning/graduate fellow type position when you're out of school. Once you get that foot in you usually get an offer. But as others have said... if you know people that can get your application looked at that always helps.
1490  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Government jobs on: March 04, 2009, 02:11:06 AM
It's also harder in the current environment as so many people are looking for them. If you'd been looking a couple years ago they were much easier to find. It also depends on the job you're looking for. E.g., govt is still hiring lots of computer security people.
1491  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Chinese games on: March 03, 2009, 04:02:29 AM
Just wondering if anyone has tried any of the Chinese MMORPG's (E.g. Perfect World II/Perfect World International)? I know there aren't that many in English, but I was wondering how they compare. Also interesting as they often use a free-game but microtransaction style method for revenue.
1492  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Which old PC Game Debeloper would you bring back? on: March 03, 2009, 04:00:41 AM
Probably Microprose... so many good games. Sure Sid is around making similar games, but I could do with a Masters of Magic re-make! Other than that, Origin for Wing Commander.
1493  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Mega Snowstorm for the Northeast - Here it comes! on: March 02, 2009, 02:13:31 PM
I had some travel time so I've justified staying home... don't know if my wife will though  icon_twisted

Oo, good to know!
1495  Non-Gaming / Steals and Deals / Re: Amazon MP3 Daily Deal plus various other MP3 deals (keep it updated!) on: March 01, 2009, 02:22:20 PM
Hehe, I grabbed it. Everyone has their issues with Creed, but I liked-um back in the day and lost my cds a long time ago.

Just picked it up today after finishing Fable 2.. will get thoughts up once I get into it.
1499  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: What are you buying this week? (2/23) on: February 24, 2009, 12:38:21 AM
I would buy Star Ocean for 360, but I have to finish Fable 2 first.  It'll be coming soon though.
1500  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: ER Dr Carter returns on: February 23, 2009, 03:02:11 AM
Yeah, with Dr. Carter back I might even tune in even though I haven't watched in like a year and a half.
1501  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Night at the Museum 2 on: February 22, 2009, 06:43:15 PM
That trailer might have given away a lot of scenes, pretty long. That said I really enjoyed the first and will definitely go see this since it has all the original cast.
1502  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: My Name is Bruce on: February 15, 2009, 03:48:26 PM
Wasn't it 1.5 million? I thought they said they could make 133.3333 movies with a $200 million budget. Gonna be out of town, but then I'll watch the Heart of Dorkness extra for the details.
1503  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / My Name is Bruce on: February 15, 2009, 04:54:48 AM
Just watched it... certainly not a classic film, but a fun watch if you're a big Bruce Campbell fan like me. Lots of inside jokes from his movies and books and some great extras. Film is a bit slow with limited action, but still fun.
1504  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Square Enix to buy Eidos? on: February 13, 2009, 04:32:17 AM
I would totally buy a Lara Croft rpg...

Any more impressions before I devote an hour and a half to this?

1510  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: All Time Box Office Winners- Adjusted for Inflation on: February 10, 2009, 02:37:52 AM
Also note economies of scale have occurred so movies can be shown for less than the increase in inflation over the years.
1511  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: What are you doing with your tax refund? on: February 10, 2009, 02:35:03 AM
Still waiting for the accountant wife to figure it out (our taxes are complicated this year). Will let you know when I find out if I lose or get money...
1512  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Holy crap. I just realized it's been 10 years since I joined GoneGold. on: February 10, 2009, 12:45:13 AM
Hmm, now I'm going to have to figure out when I joined GG...

On a side note... Blackjack, I think I was actually at the Nox event in Virginia with a friend too (if it was in Northern Virginia)! I wasn't the OGR guy but that was the only release event like that I've been to. It was actually a pretty fun, if limited, game.
1513  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Overlord 2 on: February 09, 2009, 02:51:28 AM
The first one is on its was via goozex, so we'll see how that goes.

Whiteboy... not sure where you saw that

Multiple similar reports from a week ago where Cera was still the only hold-out.
1515  Non-Gaming / Trading Forum / Re: LF: HOMM V + Star Trek games on: February 08, 2009, 04:33:42 PM
Don't have those, but I could be interested in Sam and Max season 1.
1516  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: 3 more days til HALO wars demo on: February 08, 2009, 04:32:56 PM
I was unsure on this but all I see is positive buzz. Doubt I'll get it this week as I have a small backlog, but I'll definitely grab it sometime in the next couple months.
1517  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Michael Cera flips out on: February 08, 2009, 02:59:46 AM
I'm still annoyed at Cera for holding out on the proposed Arrested Development movie when everyone else has signed on.
1518  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Most underrated 360 game in your opinion on: February 07, 2009, 12:44:05 AM
I'm only a little ways into it, but I'm really enjoying Naruto: Rise of a Ninja. I haven't seen that discussed much on the forums, but it's worth a play.
1519  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Best fighting game for 360 on: February 05, 2009, 09:29:23 PM
I've enjoyed all of the games mentioned. They're all in long-running series and you basically should know what to expect from each of them.
1520  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Super Bowl XLIII on: February 02, 2009, 03:38:33 AM
Great game. I can't believe they didn't put that final fumble to the booth though. I certainly thought it moved forward from Warner's momentum, it was at least worth a review.
