LoneStarSpur, agree wholeheartedly on Dresden. I've read the whole series to date this year and have enjoyed it immensely as an easy but rewarding read.

Yup, it wasn't perfect but I enjoyed Arcanum quite a bit. I prefer that older school Fallout to the new Morrowind/Fallout crossover style still actually.

Darkel. I've never been a big of a Scarlet fan though.
1457  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Night at the Museum 2 on: May 24, 2009, 11:27:37 PM
Saw the movie today. It was fun if a little crazier than the first with subsequently having a bit less of a story. There also wasn't as much Owen Wilson in it, though Amy Adams is always fun. Definitely a fun movie, though I was somehow expecting a bit more.
1458  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Pure (360) on: May 24, 2009, 05:41:24 PM
There was never really much in the way of impressions on this. I picked it up when Best Buy was clearing out titles for $10 a couple weeks ago and must say I've been really pleased with the bit I've played. The game isn't necessarily that deep and the environments it uses are limited, but it is very enjoyable as a low-key arcade style racer.  If you can find it for a good price I definitely recommend it as one that most people will probably find a lot of fun.

Well, he'd better have agreed with it as it was pretty blatant  icon_wink That said, great shot at the end (which he only said like 6 times in the post game on court interview), I thought it was over and was quite pleased until he made that, hehe. At least JJ played pretty well in his 9 minutes.

I found ToV to be one of the best RPGs for the 360 with Lost Odyssey being my other. Characters are generally likeable and not annoying, plot is decent, enjoyable combat system. RPG development elements aren't too in depth, but it didn't affect the enjoyment for me.

Thanks. Yeah, now I'm just trying to decide what to do with the extended service deal. I can cancel it any time in the next 55 days or whatever with full refund. I basically got it for $1500 with $0 deductible. Should I just keep it at this point, cancel and worry about it when my regular warranty is ending, or or look around for a better price before deciding? Extended warranty is for through 10y/100k with Resource Automotive/The Warranty Group. Keep in mind regular Hyundai warranty covers the powertrain through 10y/100k.

Angel was another show with a drastically cut budget in it's 5th season, which I consider the best.

I shouldn't take it as my backlog is too big... but if no one has taken it in a week let me know and I will.
1472  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Looking for new car... (sedans) on: May 16, 2009, 08:40:53 PM
FYI, I ended up getting the Sonata (Limited trim). Just could get the most features that I wanted and best trim for the money right now, though I did really like the Mazda6. We got talked into the extended warranty which I probably should have shopped around for externally, but it'll be nice to have that 10 year (transferrable) deal. Thanks for all the ideas guys!
1473  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: China invents 'unhackable OS' on: May 14, 2009, 01:40:23 AM
Despite the articles saying it is new and not Windows, Unix, or Linux... if you look around on the web it is actually basically a modified version of FreeBSD.
1474  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Books Read in 2009 on: May 13, 2009, 02:10:45 AM
I just read through the Mistborn series by Brandon Sanderson, and if you're looking for a new fantasy series to read I highly recommend it. He's a newer author and doesn't have many books, but both this series and the standalone book Elantris are great. I was most impressed with how the series ended up tying all sorts of details from the book and the mythology of the book together.

On another note, I saw one or two of you read the Kevin Anderson/Brian Herbert Dune books. FYI, Kevin's Saga of the Seven Suns series is a great scifi epic series.
1475  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Looking for new car... (sedans) on: May 11, 2009, 10:45:26 PM
Contacting my Hyundai dealorship to see if their listed prices are including the current Sonata rebate or not. If not I'll definitely have to give it a look as I'd be crazy not to. FYI, for anyone looking Ford Fusion has a huge rebate right now on 2009s (I think it was $3500) and Camry has $1500 too. The Sonata's is $3000 and my closest dealor's site has the basic ones listed at $13000... that alone isn't bad, but if I would actually get $3000 off too...
1476  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Looking for new car... (sedans) on: May 11, 2009, 07:32:56 PM
Yeah, all 3 are manufactured here. The Mazda6 is made in a joint Mazda/Ford plant in Michigan.

1478  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Looking for new car... (sedans) on: May 10, 2009, 01:16:26 PM
Yeah, I know the new Malibu's are supposed to be nice, but my current car is a 98 Malibu that's had all sorts of problems. I know they're all new and re-designed and such, but I still have that background so I don't want to get one this go around in any case.
1479  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Looking for new car... (sedans) on: May 10, 2009, 04:28:42 AM
So, I'm looking for a new sedan and have basically narrowed it down to the Accord, Camry, and Mazda6. In my area with recent sales I figure I can expect to get the low level trims for around $18-20k (Accord - sale dependent e.g. 18k deal is mothers day sale), 16-17k (2009 Camry with current rebate - possibly even 15.5k in next week), 17.5k (Mazda6 - assuming recent cash back deals return in a month or two, 18.7 otherwise). All seem pretty nice and comparable. (Prices are internet prices and could potentially still be lowered with haggling, though all are below theoretical invoice price).

Positives for me:
Accord - seemed smooth, reliable, nice all-around, standard speakers seemed a tad better
Camry - price, reliable, test drive felt smooth
Mazda6 - most comfortable seats in test drive, largest trunk, nice turns/sportiness, different (not a camry or accord)

Negatives for me:
Accord - smaller trunk, found the seats less comfy
Camry - VSC is extra, trunk on smaller side, my wife has an older model so it'd be a bit boring, trunk carpets didn't seem to fit right
Mazda6 - acceleration less smooth, reliability less certain

Thoughts?
