Gedd was working on some sort of upgrades.  I know he ran into issues but pushed through and got it up and running.  He was looking for feedback in case anyone ran into issues though.  Maybe we should all call him at home this morning.  I'm sure the twins are up anyway.  icon_twisted

As it stands I really don't know who they are going to use as the villian in the next movie and didn't see any hints at it unlike the first movie.

Saw it last night.  Not sure if it's a hint or not but when Lucious was discussing the suit mods Bruce asked him how it would fair vs dogs.  After the big dog/little dog exchange, he says it should do alright vs cats.

sounds like someone has a crush on Morgan Freeman  slywink

It's like "Chuck." Without the funny. Or the hotness. Or the fun.

I liked Wanted well enough, but it and "Chuck" are apples and oranges. With "Chuck" being a really good apple (or orange if you like them better), and Wanted being, "Oh, hey. Orange."

Heh.  We do like Chuck.  Still knowing my wife and myself, I think we'd like Wanted okay but it'll wait for DVD as there are too many other movies we haven't seen yet.

I picked up a God of War PSP a couple weeks back and love it.  GoW was great.  I picked up Jeanne D'arc, Burn Out Legends, and the Marvell card game yesterday.  GoW is outstanding.  It was a great intro to the system.  Burn Out isn't grabbing me and I'll return it to Game Stop.  (Bought it used so full refund in 7 days)  I look forward to trying out a lot of other games though.

My only real complaint is it feels a bit cheap.  The doors for the memory sticks, the way the UMDs fit in and out; the whole thing just feels like it could fall apart in my hands.  No way near as well built feeling as my NDS.  Still, no regrets and I'll mod it up soon as I would much rather pay my (bought) games off a memory stick.

I went out to dinner with another programmer in the area a few weeks back ago and he was telling me how stressed he is now that he found out his wife is pregnant because they don't have insurance and have been denied it due to the fact that he's a bit overweight and has asthma and she's diabetic.

I wonder if he can get high deductible insurance.  I can't recall the number but I think it's $5000/year that you can put into a Health Savings account, tax free.  You can use that money on health care, tax free, and it's your money.  You carry the High Deductible Insurance (~2500 deductible) in case you run into something really bad, like cancer or a problem pregnancy.  Otherwise you pay for stuff out of your HSA.  That money is yours and passes down with your estate.  Were I self-employed, I'd probably head in that direction.  (But again, I don't know if they're a shoe-in for a high deductible insurance policy)

How would a tattoo cure low self esteem?

I could see at least two possibilities:

1) Instant camaraderie with the "edgy" crowd?  Now I'm not just a skinny, 20-something misfit.  I'm a skinny, 20-something misfit with ink man!

2) Lots of people wanting to see it, complimenting you, etc.

Yup.  Take the picture of Angelina Jolie that was 'shopped for the Cracked funnies.  Some people have absolutely zero going for them personality-wise so they get ink done to appear that they're interesting.

Why do people wear what they wear, drive what they drive, live where they live? - certainly function comes into play more-so with those but also because it's what they like.  I got my tattoo because I felt like it.  I like it enough but it hardly plays a part in my confidence or daily activities.  Much less than my clothes and such do.

Every year a bunch of family gets together for Labor Day.  Now that more of us are having kids and school and sports try-outs and such before school, for the Canada-living brethren, we're moving it to the 4th this year.  I'm not sure if it'll become our new Labor Day gathering but it might as well.  Should be fun in any case.  (Even though qp shows up early and snags the master bedroom in the house we share (rental) and uses the only common room with a TV for his kids to nap in - Yeah, he does that, weak sauce eh?  Different house this year though Tongue)

I haven't patched up yet either, as I'm still waiting to hear from Lars about his game.

On the other hand, we've lost most of our players, SuperHiro may or may not be squashed by Brennus (and only if I shift my economy completely towards war can I provide enough troops to fight back), and I just don't have the economy to keep up with Varity.  Can we just declare Varity the winner?

Once I reinstall civ4 on the laptop and patch it up properly I may start a 24 hour turn game with just human players, medium or small map size.  It'll start in the industrial era with advanced starts, or maybe even modern, it'll also have the nextwar mod on so we can go past modern.  The 24 hour turn should allow people to keep up with it, and the smaller map size allows for more interaction sooner.
I'm cool with just calling it a draw and starting something new. There are some potential players over here: http://www.octopusoverlords.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=61433

Priceless.

My wife felt ill for like 4 mornings in a row.  I had a vasectomy in October.  I would have ill-intended thoughts toward my Dr if this is more than 4 days of feeling ill.

I think you send out a warning to the offenders that keep sending the reports, and if it continues from that point forward still without merit, you should consider a ban.  When it comes to religion and politics, you are almost never going to be able to hold a cool, calm and collected conversation without someone breaking into personal attacks.  And those same people will be the ones to take offense when someone fires back at them.

It's the truth of the internets.

Not true.  I send reports here and there, but they're more directed at bringing things to mod's attention so they can monitor a potential situation. Diffusing things tends to be better than dealing with them afterward.

People think EQ was "hardcore", yet UO was a much more hardcore and cruel gameworld than EQ.
I never played UO but it doesn't sound like an apples to apples comparison, although no doubt in the end this is correct.  UO was hardcore because of other players, while EQ was hardcore, in the beginning, due to the game itself with tons of time sinks, harsh death penalties and other things within The Vision (tm).

No doubt there were some aspects of EQ that were harsher.  For example, travel time - the gameworld was significantly bigger in EQ, so travel took longer.

Still, the harshest death penalty I can think of is loss of your stuff.  I'd have loved the EQ "lose exp and time" penalty over that.  smile
Right, which is why I said you are ultimately right - but again that was a PVP aspect that caused the hurt.

Luke has done that twice, to the same kid.  We actually keep him away from that kid as much as possible as he's the only one Luke will physically attack.  The kid just seems to know which buttons to push, and does so - to his own peril.  Doesn't excuse it, but I've played fly on the wall and watched this kid pick fights with my and others' kids.
