I went to bed at the end of the 3rd OT so I will have to read what happened.  Or how it happened, I should say.

That was a nasty looking high stick in 2nd OT.  I wonder just what someone will have to do to draw a penalty.  I know the refs don't like to get involved but if I was the Stars I would be pissed over that one and the refs delaying the game waiting for the Shark to come back.  Don't get me wrong, both teams have had plenty of chances tonight to let me get to bed!
887  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: NHL Playoff Talk on: May 05, 2008, 04:39:39 AM
I don't know who is going to give out first: the Sharks, the Stars or the ice.

I hate watching games on NBC.  The play by play people are good, but the intermission commentators just suck the life out of the game.

As has been said by others, you do need to seek professional help.  That isn't an insult in any way.  I used to suffer from what was to me inexplicable rages, etc.  It turned out that I did have some brain chemistry out of whack plus I learned that diabetes can cause mood issues, etc.  There are a lot of self-righteous assholes out there who say depression, etc. is all crap but it isn't for some folks.  Some people don't want to take responsibility for themselves but there are a lot of people who are fighting as hard as they can but need medical assistance.  Don't be afraid to ask for professional help.  I'm not a pro but feel free to contact me if you ever want to talk to someone who has the rage issues.
Good luck and, of course, you know that alcohol isn't going to help in the long run.  Nor were any of my drugs of choice.

The OO upgrade should contain a hell of a lot of bells and whistles by the time it is up or else I'm confused as to why we are still treading water.  (Mandatory ocean/squid reference.)

You realize the downtime isn't because of an upgrade, but rather because of the hardware failure and needing to rebuild the server and site, right? If you're expecting magic fairies to come and serve you coffee and donuts while a friendly gnome types up your post as you dictate, you're going to be a might bit disappointed.

Actually, I was referring to the the comment on the holding page about the upgrade to the server which I think I misinterpreted to think of as being an upgrade to OO instead of the hardware.  I don't know what all that involves or how long it takes.  Besides, I wanted serving girls not fairies.

Rangers cannot be happy with that goal call.

I am sure they aren't, but unfortunately calls like that happen all the time.  While on TV we could see the puck, the ref lost site of it.  The fact of the matter tho is the Rangers had plenty of chances to win it, especially with the 2 power plays late in the 3rd period.

I'm not saying that they should have won, just that such a situation must be really bad in a low scoring game.  The Rangers did have other opportunities.  Also, I think the ref did follow the rules, but call me a cynic: I think refs don't always blow the whistle as soon as they lose sight of the puck.  Sometimes, though, you win and sometimes you lose on the whistles and that is part of the game.

I just picked up the first book in the Gormenghast series.  I'm about 6 chapters in and I wonder: does it ever get any good?  I didn't read enough reviews before I picked it up.  I have almost pulled the trigger on it before, but never did.  I think it might just be me, but the latest part I heard (got the audiobook for commuting) is essentially:  "Who's that?  It's me.  Who's that knocking at my door?  Me.  Who knocks at my door wanting entry?....

I am hoping that it picks up soon, but I think the reviews are right when they say it is a story about a bunch of nasty, cynical people and isn't really a fantasy story.  To each their own.

This is where I strongly differ from his stance. Guns are not in the second amendment simply for hunters and sportsman for the purposes of hunting and target shooting. It clearly states that there is also an intent to have a well armed militia.

It is a very telling quote that Obama is not in support of the 2nd amendment as it is fully intended.

You kind of left out the "other law-abiding Americans" in your observation of his stance.

The statement still says "for the purpose of hunting and target shooting."   According to that quote, he is saying that he will protect the right to hunt and target shoot for hunters and other law-abiding citizens.

I think the first english subtitle version is probably the more literal translation and the second is adapted to make the English words fit the tune better.  It certainly sounds better in French.

edit: Ouch, a 5th goal with 6 seconds left.  That's not very sportsmanlike.

Umm....it's the Habs vs the Bruins. Based on the history, sportsmanlike is about as appropriate term to describe that rivalry as dull is to describe Don Cherry's suits.  Roll Eyes

So, my understatement was understated?
