Ok - I'm researching and am going to build a Solar Power Great Work (or whatever they are called) to provide solar for everyone in the region.  It should be done tonight.   smile

You are going to put my coal business out of business!!!  I'll sue!!!  I'll...... retard  I hate the sun.
42  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [PC] SimCity impressions on: March 08, 2013, 10:21:34 PM
I built a department of utilities.  If there was one in the region already, it wasn't working for my town.

I'm waiting for the President to invite me over for a beer summit on this issue.
43  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [PC] SimCity impressions on: March 08, 2013, 09:49:10 PM
I can survive the outages, but why should I be happy about it?  Life certainly will go on, but the idea of buying a game that doesn't work and then supposed to just play something else until it is fixed is why game companies get away with crap.  Of course, that is exactly what I will do. slywink  I was guilty of poor judgement by preordering and I'm getting my just desserts.  Should I make sure I have a bicycle ready in case my new car doesn't work?  Speaking of which, I'm surprised SimCity doesn't have a bicycle traffic model.  That seems to be quite the star for many cities now.  Hmm.  Anyway, hopefully they will get it fixed soon.  This would/could make a decent case study in business school.  Hmm.

Anyway, enough of the complaining.  When I can get into my city I have not yet figured out how to draw truly straight line streets.  I know how to find the tool to do it, but if my first road is off then oops.

Also, my town isn't adjacent to anyone else in our region so I can't export anything until we have a road connection, I believe.

So far this game has a lot of potential.  The towns are way too small, but I wonder if that isn't a function of keeping system requirements manageable.

My town, Trendy Point, is mining coal and ore.  Is there a place ingame that lets us know what the region has already built in terms of governance, so we don't duplicate ministries?
44  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [PC] SimCity impressions on: March 07, 2013, 07:29:09 PM
I think today it went global.  If the servers couldn't handle the Western Hemisphere alone....

I also saw that they have *apparently* stopped offering refunds.  Reports vary.

When I can play the game, I'm really enjoying it.  But today is almost a total loss.
45  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [PC] SimCity impressions on: March 07, 2013, 05:09:04 AM
It won't let me back on any server.  It says the system is down.  Or a network error.  It varies.

This last town I was working on was getting interesting.
46  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [PC] SimCity impressions on: March 07, 2013, 04:35:39 AM
I assume the reviews will point out these silly server issues?

Even when I can get back on, I can't always get back to the same server, so I can't get back to the town I was working on before being kicked off/logged off, etc.
Sigh.

OK, I am at my wits end...I created a region, played a few minutes and then exited to the main menu to then send out invites...no luck because the region I created no longer existed it would seem.

Sometimes, I think, it takes a long while to sync saves, if they save at all.  Did you make sure you came back to the exact same server?  I think most of this is really just server overload problems.
48  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [PC] SimCity impressions on: March 06, 2013, 09:55:49 PM
I'm also curious as to know why game developers seem to want to force you to do the tutorial.  Don't they ever have to reinstall, etc?  I know I can go to the main menu when it starts, but it is a tad silly.
49  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [PC] SimCity impressions on: March 06, 2013, 09:51:57 PM
I knew beter than to pre-order, but I wanted it so much.  I am stuck again in checking for updates.  It let me in and then said network error and booted me out again.  When the rest of the world goes online I see an even worse disaster.   If they would let solo players like me play offline it might help with their server load.
50  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: [PC] SimCity impressions on: March 06, 2013, 09:24:34 PM
Ah.  I'm actually in the game where I am getting the server message.  I should have realized that I needed to exit the game to find out what was going on in the game.

I did find last night that when it wouldn't let me claim a city I needed to fully exit the game and then come back in and it would work.

Right now my marquee says "Maxis."  I don't even get a parameter string.  crybaby

Bilon doesn't know what to do.  He feels that it is unlikely that the Legate's promises will be kept.  On the other axe, capturing the Legate is a miraculous thing.  At what point are we simply pushing our luck too far?  What can we actually do to keep the Preps out?

57  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Is Gamingtrend dying, or we are all just on a break? on: January 23, 2013, 09:03:48 PM
I have never posted too much here or at GG, but a few things have me here less often.  Like others have said, my gaming has decreased.  There just aren't that many games out there that I'm drooling for.  Plus, I'm a PC gamer and the combination of the forums just seemed to water down the pc gaming even more.  Also, I was surprised to just arrive one day and find the forums merged without prior discussion.  Apparently there was a dicussion going on in a thread someplace that morphed into the merger topic, but unless one was already invovled, one wouldn't see the debate.  It's not that I needed to be asked for permission - it's just that a heads up would have been nice.  Perhaps there was a heads up and I just missed it?

I don't know why I wasn't a follower on Facebook but I just like the page.  I think the Front page looks pretty good, but I usually come straight to the forums.  I'm trying to change that and take the time to read the page.

OO tends to cover more of the games I like, but the snark and drama drive me away pretty quickly.  In short, I don't think the place is dying, but my type of gaming is becoming even more niche oriented.

My level 18 is posted on iplay4e.com

Mighty Crusader Expertise
Spoiler for Hiden:
Mighty Crusader Expertise

Prerequisite: Proficiency with holy symbols
Benefit: You gain a +1 feat bonus to weapon attack rolls you make with any two-handed melee weapon and a +1 feat bonus to implement attack rolls you make with holy symbols. These bonuses increase to +2 at 11th level and +3 at 21st level.
In addition, while you wield a two-handed melee weapon, ranged and area attacks you make with a holy symbol do not provoke opportunity attacks.

I think I went with strength and charisma.

Bilon thinks about asking Winnish to cut the cards, but figures Winnish might be too literal minded for that.  Bilon is a shufflin'.

Did we gain a level?

Sorry guys about last night.  I didn't forget, but I came home to an apartment flooded by a broken hot water heater.  Had to move all sorts of stuff for reclamation which included the modem and router, etc. etc.  So, no home phone (vonage) or internet or email.  They are now dealing with carpet and sheetrock etc.  So, I do admit that after the flood I couldn't contact y'all and then forgot all about it after getting into emergency mode.

Sorry.  (But they are fixing the stuff and it is getting better.  Good thing about apartment living - they pay and fix it all).

FTL might work, but my copy is on steam so I can't really check.

No preference really.  Just looking for some solid games that I can run on the office computer.

So, does anyone know of any decent PC games that don't require admin rights to install and play?  I'm not into FPS if that helps.

Flash games on Newgrounds if the firewall will allow it is what I would do...

I'll check it out, thanks.

Jett believes that 1) We need to try to keep the fires under control (while the city may not burn too badly thanks to most things being stone, it'll still badly affect morale), and 2) We need to take that cannon down ASAP.

Somehow.

Just any ideas how?

Can we gather civilian volunteers to help fight fires?  Most residents would rather do something to help their city than just let it burn.
