Without Rangrim, the party doesn't really have a way to call back.

Obviously out of character be cause Kriv knows none of this.  Remember the visions we had, included Crater Town.  I think it would be best if Jett went ahead and established communication with Amahez.

While it may not be the safest option...I am actually voting on resting here in the house of coin, and performing the ritual here...perhaps we could barricade ourselves into one of the rooms.  My concern with going back to Fort Scale is we could absolutely devastate/ruin troop morale if we go marching back in to Fort Scale with a deceased Ryla.  All of these troops are here, following Ryla, not us.  It could break our army and lead to us loosing Scaleport.

That cloak is very nice.

Our first order of business needs to be bringing Ryla back to life.  Otherwise we need to finish checking out the house of coin, including the basement.

Kriv will begin walking in the front entrance.

I agree, while the impending invasion by the Prepotency is a priority, we need to finish what we started at the House of Coin.

Probably only if you took melee training to leverage your highest stat, since your strength is low.

Oh yeah, it was intriguing.  BTW, OOC I have no problem with what happened to the guy.  IC, Bilon is confused abut how rapidly Kriv swings from side to side.  And realizes how similar he is. Bilon is having to think about his moral compass a bit.  Great job.

Yeah it was a bit of a combination of heat of the moment, tough battle, constant denigration and knowing we needed to keep moving forward.  Paragon's of Justice aren't perfect.

Surprised at how hate filled that Goliath was.  It was never my intention to execute him, but he determined his fate with his words and actions.

172  Non-Gaming / Forum and Site Feedback / Re: Forum Consolidation? on: July 09, 2012, 04:57:35 PM
Putting a tag in the title doesn't make it any easier to filter through to find the threads you may be looking for, not to mention with the higher thread turnover due to combining forums, niche titles will likely fall off the page much faster now.

I realize it doesn't matter in the end as I am a minority opinion, but I am already finding I spend less time on the forum, and to be fully honest am guessing that in a few months I will likely stop coming entirely.  It is likely more to do with me changing a bit as a person, but the changes were a catalyst for me to see things in a new light.

You can plug a console into a pc monitor btw, I use the same screen for PC and console gaming.  Not sure the 'only have one TV' excuse works since the PS2 generation.  ninja

It does when you have limited space at your desk, which is taken up by the PC tower and a printer.  But you are right, I suppose the truth is the impetus in getting rid of them was a combination of:

1.  I hadn't powered on my consoles for over 9 months before getting rid of them
2.  Games have gotten to be expensive when I have two kids and a house taking up most of money in a tight economy
3.  My kids kept asking to play the consoles, and I have no desire to have my kids playing games...if I could travel through time I would find some way to keep myself from ever getting hooked on games all those years ago.

I think some of you PC only stalwarts need to pay more attention to the console space.   Pretty much every big Fps or Rpg is multi platform these days.  There's also a lot of stuff in the console space that would appeal to the Pc gamer.  Dark Souls and Dragons Dogma being two recent RPGs that i think the Pc crowd would enjoy.  The reason it matters is that with Dark Souls it is finally getting a PC version and no small part of that is from the demand of pc folks and online petitions.    If pc only folks had collectively ignored the console space that Dark Souls port wouldn't be happening.

On the flip side there's something like Xcom.  Xcom is probably one of the most anticipated games of the year of the old PC gamer, but it's also coming out for consoles.  The console only set, despite there having been a console version of the original Xcom, really don't know why they should be excited about it.  Now assuming the game lives up to expectations, we'd all want it to succeed so we get more games like that or a sequel a lot sooner than last time.   Now with a split forum, the PC folks would go crazy for it in the PC subforum, and the console forum might get a thread on it that would languish and die.   In the joint forum the console folks that aren't familiar with the title will now see a very active thread for the game and potentially be much more inclined to check it out.  That then further benefits discussion and success of the title.

I am not a "PC only stalwart", I have no problem with console games, I used to own every console on the market.  My issue is I only have one TV in my house, and with a wife and 2 kids, I can not monopolize the TV to play games.  That leaves me with the PC as my viable gaming platform.  Your argument about getting console games to the PC isn't really an argument to me, due to the fact that console games ported to the PC are generally really bad ports, and for me personally, I can't stand FPS games, and while I love RPGs, I have no desire to play the anger/frustration generator...I mean Dark Souls series, and while Dragon's Dogma looks neat, see my previous comment on ports.

I liked the fact that previously I could go in to the PC games forum, and look at the top 6-10 threads to see if anything interested me.  Now I have to filter through a bunch of threads I have no desire to read, to get to ones I might be interested in reading.

I'm not into console gaming much - I have horrible dexterity, etc.  Trying to figure out what button to push literally gives me a headache.  ABXYTrigger1Trigger2, etc.  Probably not harder than the PC, but I'm used to pcs.  I'm obviously not an action gamer so I realize that I am a dinosaur in the gaming world.

This is me, too, so I probably won't be going into the gaming forum anymore. Not that I posted much in the PC Games forum anyway. I did like to lurk there, but I'll cope.

Sadly I am finding myself in this boat as well.  I don't do console gaming anymore, haven't owned a console in over a year now.  I dipped my toe into the new combined forum, pretty much saw a bunch of PS3/360 threads and decided I am likely not going to go back in to try and sort through to find the PC threads.  That leaves me with reading off-topic now and again, and using the new analog games section to discuss the D&D campaign.

All this talk convinced me to take a look at the "Front Page"...running chrome on Windows 7, it locked my PC up for a good 20 seconds, hard drive light was thrashing and everything was non responsive, couldn't move mouse or anything.

I know the site has awesome content, but I just don't read gaming news...ever, no matter the site.  My web browsing boils down to check these forums, perhaps check OO or Quarter to Three, check my email to see if I have anything other than spam or bills, read up on hockey and local news and that is it.  That said, even if I wanted to read the gaming news, not sure I would bother when the site locks my machine up like that simply by trying to load a webpage.

I think my gaming time may pick back up once Guild Wars 2 hits, otherwise I have been playing some Dwarf Fortress and that is about it.  Travel has picked up for me as well, limiting my time.  I still come to the forums a lot, but usually what happens is I scan the first page of topics, find nothing that interests me in reading and move on.  That said it isn't just Gaming Trend.  I almost never visit OO anymore, and even Quarter to Three while I look at it daily, I may only read 3 or 4 threads a day at most.

I am hoping that some of the Kickstarter projects I have backed will turn out and get me back into caring about gaming again, as it is pretty much my only hobby.

I don't use any sort of social networking stuff (facebook, twitter, etc) so that has no bearing for me.

Doopri and Winnish, can you guys let me know what you took for level 16 when you get a chance, so I can get your characters updated on iPlay4e.

Kriv is taking the following:

LVL 16 Utility Power:

Divine Aegis
Your god shelters you and your allies from harm.
Daily        Divine, Stance
Minor Action      Personal
Effect: Until the stance ends, you and any allies within 2 squares of you gain a +2 bonus to all defenses.

=================================================================================================================

For my feat I am torn between:

Shield Mastery
Paragon Tier
Prerequisite: 11th level, proficiency with light shields or heavy shields
Benefit: While wielding a shield with which you have proficiency, your shield bonus also applies to your Fortitude.

Devoted Paladin
Heroic Tier
Prerequisite: Paladin, lay on hands power
Benefit: When you use your lay on hands on an ally, that ally regains additional hit points equal to your Charisma modifier.
Your number of healing surges increases by one.

Angelic Protection
Paragon Tier
Prerequisite: 11th level, paladin, lay on hands
Benefit: When you use lay on hands, you can instead grant the target temporary hit points equal to the number of hit points it would have regained.

=================================================================================================================

Lastly my Paragon Path lvl 16 feature is:

Hospitalers' Care (16th level): You add your Charisma modifier to the healing provided each time you use your lay on hands power.

Should also be quieter (less springs) but louder with kinetic force transferring to the headboard.

I found space foam also lets you get better traction.

It is a bit quieter for sure, and no headboard to worry about.  Our foundation actually does make a bit of noise, but I think alot of that is due to my weight on the poplar slats.

So how is it? I'm thinking of surprising my wife with one since she's been wanting one for ages.

Shero was asked and he said his target is Suter actually, but lot of folks from TSN kept claiming the Pens were clearing cap to make a big splash.

And the reason no one approached Lou for the rights:

Quote
When reporters caught up with Lou Lamoriello and asked him if anyone had called about Parise's rights he responded.."No, because they know better."

Shero did say he would not be trading for negotiating rights to either Suter or or Parise.  And yes the Pens need to improve their D corps, which is why they traded Michalek, will likely trade Martin and one or two other D-Men this offseason.  We have a wealth of young guys ready to make the jump to the NHL.

"Ho ho!  Early payment," he laughs, "Were all our accounts like you, we'd save a fortune in blood and coin on debt collection!"

"And yet, I see no chests, no sacks, no coffers?"  Beezho begins to pace quickly in front of his men while looking the party up and down. "Yes, you've brought me one new treasure," he says with a wink at Ryla, "but the House of Coin does not traffic in Mortal flesh.  'No slaves in the Empire!' and all that."

"So then, is the coin you owe cleverly concealed about your person?  I thought I sensed some spatial distortions about!  Bag of Holding?  Portable Hole?  No matter.  Your secrets are your business.  Just leave the funds here and we'll be on our way, not to be seen again until your little spat with the Prepotency has been satisfactorily, err, terminated."

Kriv steps forward, his standard of Bahamut unfurled and blowing in the breeze, smoke wafting from the hole in his throat that stole his ability to breath fire.

"You petty, greedy and vain gnome.  You are no longer an authority in this town...No slaves in the empire...what an abomination of a claim...what do you think my people have been turned in to.  The penance is no such trial, but rather a poor front for pushing the dragonborn race into slavery under the gray dwarves.

In times of such hardship, you care not for the weak and down trodden, instead you only care for bashing in skulls until you get your 30 pieces of silver.  You carry no allegiance to anything but your precious metals that have no divine significance.  Your days as a thug under the guise of a merchant are over.  We have brought no coin, as you will be collecting no more debts, from either us or the people of this town.  You and your goons can either leave peacefully, leaving all possessions behind for the greater good of the people remaining in Scaleport, or you and your men can be taken forcefully into custody and rot in a jail cell until such time that this war is over, and you can be tried for your crimes in a proper court.

If you choose neither of these options, then you will leave us no choice but to send you to whatever vile deity you serve so as to be judged for eternity this day.

The next move is yours gnome, choose now!"

Kriv will continue to boldly walk forward as he is speaking.  When he finishes commanding the gnome to choose his course of action, Kriv will let out a vicious roar. (attempting to use dragonfear on top of an intimidation check if possible, understanding the power would not be available in our next encounter)

So long story short, the company I work for was bought by IBM, and as such we were given new laptops that are locked down tighter than Alcatraz.  I travel quite a few weeks of the year and as such I have been looking for a lightweight laptop to carry along with my ridiculously heavy Lenovo work laptop, so as to be able to do some gaming and what not in my downtime when I am out of town.  The cost is ridiculously high on the Macbook Pro, but the retina display is just gorgeous, battery life on the Macbook is insane compared to the 90 minutes I get on my Lenovo, and the thing weighs next to nothing.

I am a staunch Windows believer, but after working with quite a few Mac users in the office, and seeing how easy to use and stable the machines are I am beginning to wonder if it isn't time for me to give Mac a try.
