There's less gay people than straight people.  They share something in common that's a huge part of their life and culture and makes them feel different from society as a whole.  It makes sense that there would be bonding based on this, no?

We could certainly make a site called Straightgamer but since most gamers are straight there wouldn't be a point.  It's just a way for like-minded people (who happen to be in a minority) to get together and feel a sense of camaraderie.  I don't think it has anything to do with "flaunting" or "being seen as liberated."

And this is what makes the World go round......Opinions....Thats yours, I have mine, they have theirs...Who's right? It doesn't matter.
I still think sexual orientation within in the gaming world is a moot point.,......basically, who cares?

personally, as a female gamer, i feel more comfortable around the crowd at gaygamer than grrlgamer.  maybe because all the girls i meet on Live sound like militant bitches who want to tear men's throats out...  *shrug*

and i don't think that "singling yourself out" should in any way make hate-related attacks okay.  they didn't have it coming just because they aren't hiding their heads in the sand, and the mere implication of such is indicative of an attitude that perpetuates ignorance, fear, and repression.  "keep your head down and no trouble will come to you" is no way to live your life, no matter what makes you who you are, whether it's gender, sexuality, religion, or whatever.  there's no reason to be so afraid of other people not liking your life choices that you become ashamed of them, and in AMERICA, of all places, it should be safe to be yourself.

I don't believe anyone here is saying, "hide you gayness"...but what "I'm" saying is, why the need to even mention it in gaming circles?
I don't feel the need to let everyone know that I'm hetrosexual........I could care less what people think I am.
It seems that there is a double standard at times....If a man flaunts his hetrosexualness(which is silly)but in any case, he'll probably get labeled homophobic......But if a gay person flaunts their preference they are seen as liberated...........

Keep sex out of the gaming world, and we'll all be happier, well balanced people........

I think this thread has shown more than enough reasons for gay gamers to have their own site.  No one is forcing straight people to go there so I dont see why it is such a big deal.
The thing is, I think the site is good enough for everybody. Just like Gaming Trend, the place for Console games (as it used to be) was good enough for PC gamers too.

For me, pardon my hetrosexualness, I don't get the whole name-tag thing. If it was to cater to everyone why call it, Gay Gamer?
Would you feel left out, or judged if there was sites called, Hetro Fragger's?
Would you feel like you would want to go there?

Are you asking me?  As a married heterosexual male I wouldn't have a problem going to that site, though I would most likely avoid it as it would probably attract the same crowd that thinks Axe body spray is going to get them laid.  No thanks, thats what Spiketv is for.  Also, who said they are trying to cater to everybody?

Not you silly......EduardoX....

Its funny to me....WoW is so heavily invested into Raiding and in all my time in WoW..(since it went live) I've yet to do anything higher than a 5 man p.u.g.

Reasons being I just can't seem to find a guild that does raiding...and, or, want a Hunter.

I want to complain about it, but on a positive note that just shows you how much there is to do in WoW.

I've kept busy all this time and I haven't done a single raid instance.

I would like to, just never happened.

On a side-Fantasy note: I wish solo players could go into these instances just to see them...Not sure how you could work it, but of course no raid quality items should drop etc....but just for those of us, and there are tons, who would like to see the inside of these elite instances....dreaming I know... icon_cry

I think all genres can be reduced to commonalities.

RPG = Create a character...adjust stats....find quest npc....follow story line.......
FPS = Start as a unlikely hero...find weapons....shoot weapons......drive vehicles....shoot weapons..oh yeah, follow story.
MMOPRG's= Create a character...find quest npc.......follow story...max level.......grind, farm.
Adventure..EWWWWWWWW.....sorry..um, click on NPC...move blocks to solve puzzle...............follow story?
Racing=...........well, you see where I'm going with this.

Although I'm not an avid console gamer I did buy the 360 a few months ago........I wish I had waited and got a PS-3.

Its a terrible feeling spending a boat load of money on a system and a HDTV only to worried everytime you fire it up might be its last time...

Good luck with your purchase...and yes, I second the motion you need to do all things possible within your means to acquire a HDTV.......

The Demo made one thing very clear.........The game is terrible...On any level. Arcade or Sim. It doesn't work for either.

I wouldn't play that game if someone dropped over to my house with a beautifully gift wrapped box with the game inside it.

I would become a re-gifter ASAP..........Some other shmuck would get the mis-fortune of firing up this dog of Summer.

My main is a Hunter....I've done nothing but BG's with him since getting to 70 = burned out.

Maybe Druid then. I dont have a real-life friend who plays so playing a good team class is out.

Kinda leaves Druid and Rogue........I think the Druid seems the most fun out of those two...At least for me on PvE servers they are.

Just don't ask me to play Horde...Nope, ain't gonna do it. I'm not 12 either.  icon_cool

I don't know why, but I've tried so many times to get a character up in levels on the Horde side, I just can't do it.

So, that leaves Night Elf Druid............Back to the land of purple for me then.

I've never ventured onto a PvP server in all the time I've played WoW. Part of me wants to for the challenge the other part says no for the frustration.

I might try it yet, dunno.

I can see people liking different UI's ..but the least amount of stuff on the screen for me the better. I don't use one single UI mod....If I'm questing I might us CTmod's co-ords mod, but after I turn that off as well.

Would a rogue be the best bet for the least frustrating class to play on a PvP server?

I think what "YOU" do with your assasin is your business.

I think they were showin off the engine more than anything.

But isn't one of the supposed main draws of their engine the whole crowd awareness stuff? You would think diving into a pile of straw from 200 feet would garner some sort of reaction.
Yeah, agreed. Honestly, it seemed like the crowds in general were pretty unaware as to what was going on the whole time.

Ok, if we're still talking about the Swan dive off the tower and the lack of crowd response then I guess there is a concern there. But just think about the amount of code scripting if someone nearby responds to everything you do..I know pulling of a perfect 10 dive from 100ft should draw SOME attention, absolutely.....But I'm sure the feed-back they're getting from this and other testing will allow for some adjustments here and there.

It is still pure speculation on any front concerning this game.....

Oh crap, I just read through this post of mine and others in the thread......I'm sounding like a Fanboi of this game......

I need a game that i can jump in and out of and get stuff done quick. NWN2 would have been perfect for me, but i couldn't get into it. FPS seems to fit what i need and i don't even enjoy them that much.

See now I'm the opposite when I get to feeling that way. I wish for a good, deep game to break my blahs.
