I love WoW too, been playing ever since it came out.  They changed one of my toons names once, because I had the little line over the "e" in my name.  They're getting worse as the years go by, in my opinion....  I haven't played my toon in several days either.  But, anyway, back to your problem, yeah, that's a little harse I would think but, as Daehawk said, they don't give a damn about indviduals.  They're rolling in soo much money, they don't even care anymore, at least that's the way I feel.

Yeah I agree with your last statement..sure seems that way.

I got a compulsory name change notification way back at the start of WoW..

I had a little dwarf Warrior on Argent Dawn(role-playing) named, Bombastic...He would walk around all full of himself and cocky..
I thought it was a great role-playing name for a bigger-than-life Dwarf Warrior...
Shrug.

You were on an RP server.  That was 99.9999% of your problem right there.

IMO, if you play on an RP server, you may as well just beat yourself over the head with a shovel and demand that they ban you.  Why go for the slow bleed?  Get it done and over with right from the start.

Sad, but true. I tried reasoning with the RP-Nazis that kept sending me tells or putting me down in open chat....Why wouldn't a brash, big-mouthed Dwarf get a nick-name like, "Bombastic"...Like, "Hey, get a load of Mr. Bombastic over there, he thinks he's God's gift to women"....I don't in real life, honest.. paranoid

Anyway, Role-Playing Servers are a great concept but they don't work for the general public too well. Its ok if a few friends want to role-play, or a guild has strict requirements for it, but you can't run a server according to some made-up role-playing "rules"....Role-playing is a totally subjective thing..to mandate everyone play it a certain way would negate the very freedom people want...

So yeah, role-play on any server and save yourself grief by not going on a server designated, "Role-Playing"....Nazis on every cornet waiting for you to trip up in your role playing.......... ninja

One of the things I've felt in Flight Sims and Car sims that is lacking is real physical feed-back.
To make things realistic is one thing, but in a real car I can "feel" the movement, "sense" when I need to correct or whatever.

In a game you can't. Realism is great as long as tactile feedback is taken into account. There is a huge difference between a Sim and the real thing. There always will be until the "perfect" seat has been made.

So for me it boils down to fun. It can be as real as it gets but if it just frustrating and not fun, who cares?

But to each his own. I just really think the lack of real physical feed-back is a huge barrier between realism and arcadism.

I don't think anyone who still actively plays WoW and enjoys it wants a WoS released any time soon, a lot of guilds would probably deteriorate because of members switching over and such. Essentially, WoS would damage the WoW community to an extent. No reason for that yet, wait until the WoW community has stopped growing, then start working on WoS or World of Diablo or World of Three Vikings or whatever other property Blizz wants to convert to cash.

What makes you think the WoW community hasn't stopped growing. I see less and less people on-line. I've been on since the beginning and the drop in people, from my perspective, is fairly significant.
You will never see released figures on decline, only growth. And then I still think they skewed them some how to project viability and growth.
I'm not saying WoW is dead......Not by any stretch of the imagination...but I do think a stagnant period is burgeoning. You can read it, see it, sense it.
World of Starcraft could never have happened though while WoW is still viable. You don't compete with yourself in business...that just wont work.
But I think rather than World of Warcraft 2 down the road, I do hope they change gears and make another MMORPG based on something totally different from Warcraft.

Finally got my 360 back today and gave the demo a run... I'm mostly underwhelmed.  The graphics are pretty mediocre, particularly when I'm comparing it against F1.  I seem to remember the sound being much better in the first too, but hopefully they downsampled for the demo.

I ran a few races of each class with zero aids other than the AT (I hate shifting on a controller).  The cars feel alright, but they seem to have missed a bit on the traction.  You can't induce a useful level of oversteer... you go from super-grippy understeer to unrealistically trying to swing your rear end from side to side.  Not a whole lot in between.  It's really difficult to help the car turn with the throttle.  The brakes do feel pretty good though.

The AI is... slow.  They seem to do an OK job of accident avoidance, but they really are slow.  I assume this is 'Medium' difficulty, but the braking lines they take around the track are SUPER conservative.  You can pretty much be rest assured that you can outbrake them into turns by 2-3 car lengths, meaning you should be able to pull a pass off on nearly any turn you like.  Maybe it gets better with Hard, but I walked away from the AI on the handful of races I did, never once failing to finish first by less than 3 seconds.

I guess I was just hoping they'd do more.  This game really is a sequel to Forza... it's not a huge advancement in any category that I can see so far, so I think anyone hoping for that (like myself) is going to be at least a bit disappointed.  Those looking for a higher resolution version of the first will probably be pretty happy.

Hopefully the career mode is compelling and the 'Hard' AI is competitive, otherwise I'm really going going to be disappointed in buying it.

crap, I ain't racing you online..............I felt like a go-cart racer thrown in with F1 drivers.
Umm yeah, I drive better in real life.........honest.

The amount of data that you can make available in the HUD (which is easily brought up and removed during the race) is wonderful.  You can see the various forces on your car as you turn, which tires are getting the most wear, current damage to your vehicle, etc.  There were at least five different screens of realtime data to page through....all while you are driving.  I liked GT3, but I found some of their simplifications (and the invicible cars) to be a little annoying.  Forza 2 looks to offer me the simulation that I've been wanting for some time.

Did I mention I think the dynamic driving line is really cool?

Man, that's fantastic info on the HUD there! I had no idea it was that comprehensive!

if you want to see just how much is going on under the hood, run a race and watch the replay afterward with telemetry turned visible.  like Dreamshadow said, there are five screens of data available in real time...watch it all fluctuate at full speed, or slow down the playback and take in the minute details.  the amount of information is staggering...tire temps, friction ratings, G forces, suspension response/travel, camber variations, engine output...it's all there in more detail than you could imagine.  while the racing style of Forza isn't quite my cup of tea, i can appreciate the amount of work put into the game to make it realistic...very cool.

LOL, that's the same thing I did last night. The Telemetry seemed like it was more for after the race to evaluate your performance. What would be cool is if your pit crew used this info and relayed it to you and set your car up based on your racing style.

So the telemetry info is just that, info? You can't do anything with it during pits?

The save game in this title is so frustrating. There is one mission where you're in a sewer network going after some boss lizard. It is a very long mission with, for me anyway, an extremely tough boss fight at the end. Guess what? No save at all through the whole thing. I'd been on this one mission for over a hour trying to finish the boss off...I had to go, you know that annoying thing called "real life"....Well I lost all that gaming time working my way to this boss because of the no save feature whilst in a mission.
How flippin frustrating is that?

The demo played fine and was very reminiscent of the first Forza, as could be expected I guess.  I think the jaggies mostly went away during the replays.

I am also begrudgingly allowing myself to come to the conclusion that, like Misguided, this is just not my type of racing game.  It's just a bit too sterile for me.  I enjoy the visceral thrills of rally and such.  I will now be trasferring my excitement to DIRT: Colin McRae Off-Road and FlatOut: Ultimate Carnage.  And of course PGR4 and Burnout Paradise whenever they arrive.

Same...........

I was hoping I would love the demo I so want a new 360 game to take up some of my gaming time.......Maybe next month.

Ok, I didn't think I'd be able to get this with just a silver account. Nice surprise.

Not having played any racing games on a console system before I really don't have a point of reference as to whether this is good for a console racer or not.
It seems ok, but I'm not wow'ed by it. I'm running it on a 27inch HDTV at 1080i and some graphics are good and others look a bit plasticky....
I imagine it would be much more realistic with a wheel-pedal setup but I find the controller a bit cumbersome.IE changing views looking back using the "look-around" function.

I'm really curious as to how more experienced console-racers fans find this demo.

Short version: I don't like this style of racing, so keep that in mind.

The sim-heads are going to love this. With all the aids turned on, it feels a bit like PGR. Turn off the traction, stability, and abs, and it's a whole different story, and I didn't even try the R2 class.

Again, I don't like this kind of racing (I prefer Rally) but I LOVE the way they implemented the racing line. It's dynamic, showing you whether you should accelerate or brake, and it changes on the fly as your speed changes.

Do NOT expect the game to look like some of the vids we've seen recently. They have to have been using post-processing or AA isn't implemented in the demo or something, but there are jaggies-a-plenty in the demo.

Having said that, I did a few quick races and it was silky smooth. No hiccups or stutters at all.

I'm really not qualified here, but AI seemed alright to me at a glance. driver's didn't seem overly aggressive, but they will send you flying off the track if you cut them off too hard.

Sounds are independently configurable for tires, engines, collisions, music, other cars, etc,...nice.
HUD has nice customizability too.

No in-car view, but there is a hood cam, and a bumper cam plus a couple of chases.

No in car view? Wha? So you don't get to sit behind the wheel with the same view you'd have in real life? Thats just weird.
How does it handle with the stock 360 controller? I wont buy a wheel and peddles for a game so I know I'm limiting myself somewhat.
