Just so ya know....you can play drums vs drums.  I believe I saw something like that in a video not too long ago...

Drum vs. Drums, and I'm pretty certain I heard you can do singing vs. singing battles.  Seems like the singing fight would only be fun in person.

MOCK  -  ING  -  BIRD  -  YEAH!

(it sounds funnier in my head, like from Dumb and Dumber...)

Thank you very flippin much...Now I can't get that scene out of my head........

Ok, just finished off Typhoon as a lv 30 Ranger. Only a few points into Nature.
Died twice. Basically just ran in fired off a few, ran out, drank health potion, rinse and repeat.

Am I now moving into the Immortal Throne expansion?
It seemed a bit anti-climatic.

I left the Typhoon area through a portal and quests starting coming without a cut scene or anything.

It's easy to defend.

It's their game.  You don't have to buy it.  You don't have a right to own it.  Once owning it, you don't have a right to any service they deem fit to offer.

Easy, isn't it?

Now, with all that being said?  If it proves too unpopular, who knows?  They might change that later down the line.  Personally, I don't see it being an issue.  I mean, c'mon.  Hellgate is basically a small-scale MMO.  They're going to give us upgraded content (they say), and I'm willing to give them the benefit of the doubt.  Besides, i plan on paying $150 up front and the never have to worry about it agaiin.

Of course, it probably means I won't get Guitar Hero 3 or Rock Band until 2008, but hey.  That's a choice I have to make.

That means you're pretty sure its worth the cost right? I still wont say its a MMO in the traditional sense at all. They have encorporated "some" aspects of that, enough to warrant them asking for a monthly fee? I don't think so.

Gate...Open...Flood.....End of PC gaming as we know it........Potentially.

Yeah, thats where I think the difference is here. Hellgate has a rabid fanbase close enough to be called slavering hordes...I hear the cash registers now...cha-ching!

And all the other game-makers are taking notes.

pre shrine fix or post?

i played an assassin? rogue/hunter with most of my hunter skills on bleeding/pierce damage.  most of my rogue stuff was in poison.  pre fix, he was easy enough to kill with the bow i had.  i did kill off most of his shrines when i first fought him, but after a few levels past that part, i could drop him without doing it.  just make sure he doesn't get too close.

post fix?  not sure.  i haven't played it in a while.

if you want some more details, i could dig up my character and post his stats.  i'd also be willing to give you some of my equipment if you like.

Nice offer, thank you. I'm guessing its the post fix. I patched it up to current....
Just hit 20 and haven't put skill points anywhere but Hunter.

I'm honestly just not getting the outrage. Aside from Hardcore mode and character quantity limits (which I sincerely doubt apply to locally stored single player characters), if you want to play Hellgate as you would Diablo 2, just buy it and play with no additional costs. For example, Fyedaddy's probably also going to buy the game, and he's not interested in the sub at all. He and I will play tons of co-op and he won't have to pay an extra cent.

If you want to play it as an mmo, then you get a sub that's cheaper than the typical mmo now. If those mmo features don't matter to you (like with me) then there's no need to pick up a sub.

If they actually do come out with regular and substantial content updates, then I'll sub for that when I have lots of time to play since that'll basically be mini-expansions.

What is there to be outraged about?

I think its a slippery slope from which we wont return. Those that have the "full" game because they're paying monthly, and those who get "game-lite" because they just want a single player game. It's a con job. They are playing on the fact that most people will want the carrot bad enough that they'll pay for it. Instead of just putting it in a single-player game with multi online capabilities. They want their friggin cake and eat it too.
It's greed. And it will make all game producers ponder doing the same thing if this works..Of course, as always, this is just my opinion.!!!
2011  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Hellgate: London - Elite or Pleb? on: September 18, 2007, 03:14:05 PM
NO! It's not nearly enough of MMO to warrant monthly payments to keep up with a bit of content.

Full marks for the best job of conning the masses into giving up hard earned money though.

2012  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Titan Quest: Hunter viable for Typhoon? on: September 18, 2007, 01:49:18 PM
Never made it to Typhoon my first crack at this game. Just fired it up again the other day. Lv-19 all skill points into Hunter tree so far.
I've been reading here and there about how tough Typhoon is. What should I add to the Hunter to make him strong enough for a fair Typhoon fight?

I'm also not getting alot of good drops. I have a half decent bow and gauntlets...but other than that just meh stuff.

What resists should I get up to snuff for Typhoon?

Danke for any tips......

Yeah, as if they wouldn't ship copious amounts of Halo-3 knowing they will fly off the shelves.

Or maybe in bizzarro world you'd hear this:  Hey boss did you read about the excitment level for our gaming hitting fever-pitched levels? Yes I did son, and because of that I'm only going to ship enough games for the pre-order people. After all son, this isn't about money, but honoring those who just can't wait for our game so they pre-ordered. Ahhhh, you're so smart boss....Yep, thats why they pay me the big bucks son. Now go tell Lou in shipping to put a delay-shipment tag on those 4 million boxes of Halo-3...On my way boss.... retard

I understand expectancy excitement for title. But one thing I have never felt I needed to do with a game is pre-order it.

To be honest it kinda baffles me why some will go to great lengths to ensure they are one of the first to have a title.
Usually the person has anticipated the title for well over 6 months, would 1 or 2 more days matter?

But there ya go.........Differences in people like this make the World go round I guess...

If I get Halo 3, and same applies for Mass Effect which is a game I am tons more wanting than Halo 3, I will saunter into the local store the day after release and look for it on the shelf...Not there? Pop next door to the other game store....dang, not there either...Oh well, I'll come check tomorrow.....easy peasy lemon squeezy.

Please don't read into this that I in anyway think I'm better than the must-have-first-day-gamers..................................................umm, I would never admit to that anyway.... paranoid nod

Sure gets addicting if you stick with it.

I saw the guide in EB when I bought the game, and I had the feeling it might be one game worth having it for. I think I'm right.
I'm going to get the guide this week-end. I really think this game is so deep with many nuances that having a guide will add to the game not take away from it.

Anyone buy the guide yet?

Best Shooter = Unreal
Best RPG      = Planescape Torment

Best MMORPG = WoW
Best Action  = Mafia
Best RTS   = Age of Empires
Best Sim =  Falcon 4.0

For all you 'mericans, Alberta (think of it as a state, even though we have what's known as "provinces") is Canada's Texas. Oil and cattle are big business there, and Calgary is fast becoming one of the most expensive places to live.

Edmonton is north of Calgary and is significantly cheaper to live, although in recent years real estate has jumped in value. For reference, Edmonton is very similar to Winnipeg with regards to population and temperature, even though it is further north.

Viva having all 4 seasons (instead of just stupid hot, stupid, and hot).

I really need a new MMORPG. I'm almost at the point of going back into CoH-CoV.

You know what MMORPG I miss? I miss the early days of SWG. Yeah, I know wha?????

I loved the Star Wars feel. I know lots complained it didn't nail down the atmosphere enough, but for me it was fine.
I love the way the game looked, I loved the "classes" you could develop. The crafting system actually had some depth to it..And for me to say that about crafting is amazing in and of itself.

There were tons of iffy and negative stuff about SWG but over-all I would love to have a sci-fi MMORPG that was as immersive and fun as the early months of SWG.

I'm so fed up with Orc, elves, hobbits, mages, etc..............

So whats the big ones on the horizon? More Orc's, elves, dwarves, and half-dressed gladiators that can kill a 12 ft Ogre with one swing... Warhammer, Conan.

I wanted  TR to be the Sci-Fi game to bring back those old feelings. It doesn't look like that going to happen...shame...
