Just got this for the 360. Never have I wanted to quit a game so much in the first 1 hour of play. Thankfully I didn't do it.
Sure gets addicting if you stick with it.

I saw the guide in EB when I bought the game, and I had the feeling it might be one game worth having it for. I think I'm right.
I'm going to get the guide this week-end. I really think this game is so deep with many nuances that having a guide will add to the game not take away from it.

Anyone buy the guide yet?
there's a guide?  meh, I'm going to have to resist.  I'm having too much fun discovering stuff on my own.

Yeah, I think I can count on two fingers how many game guides I've bought. For some reason I have a feeling a game guide for this one might be fun to have.........But you're right, some stumbling, bumbling exploration with trial and error is part of the fun. The guid looks really well written with great pic's....Ok, I'll shut up about the guide........You guys sure you aint gonna get it? ok, ok, I'm going......... nod

I played the PC version of Oblivion but never got SI or any other extra.

With the GoTY edition SI is shipping with it, what level do I have to be to get "into" SI?

Or can I start a new character and go straight away to the Island?

Danke.

Yeah, I really am not into the story... The story is really, for the most part, nonexistent save for the lame diaries you pick up. When the hell are game designers going to realize that reading and listening to journal entries as a form of putting a story together is uber lame. I'm surprised at all the acclaim this game is receiving, there are so many ways the gameplay is behind the times.

You are insane.

You do realize that the first sign of insanity is thinking others are insane don't you?

Sheesh Arclight, when's the last time you voted in 1 of our federal elections? What software is there to hack we still use a pencil with a paper ballot. Although in Alberta you're apparently allowed to mark your ballot with the butt end of a hockey stick that's been chiselled and charcoalized.

I'm going to muddle things up.....Just because I can.

Best Shooter = Unreal
Best RPG      = Planescape Torment
Best Adventure = Blade Runner
Best MMORPG = WoW
Best Action  = Mafia
Best RTS   = Age of Empires
Best Sim =  Falcon 4.0

Although its wearing really, really thin right now...........I would give the over-all nod to.....drum roll................World of Warcraft.

Just in the amount of hours put into this and time spent reading forums, participating in forums, and researching things, WoW wins hands down.

PS  yeah, yeah, I know, I pussied-out......sorry LD.

For all you 'mericans, Alberta (think of it as a state, even though we have what's known as "provinces") is Canada's Texas. Oil and cattle are big business there, and Calgary is fast becoming one of the most expensive places to live.

Edmonton is north of Calgary and is significantly cheaper to live, although in recent years real estate has jumped in value. For reference, Edmonton is very similar to Winnipeg with regards to population and temperature, even though it is further north.

Viva having all 4 seasons (instead of just stupid hot, stupid, and hot).

Do you have semi-literate presidential (prime minister, eh?) candidates pretending they are from Alberta?

No one is FROM Alberta......But everyone GOES there. Boom time in the land of Wheat, Cattle, and Oil....Think Texas on steroids..

I've done a number of consulting gigs in Edmonton over the last 7 years and have always liked the city. Sure it's cold in winter, but It only usually reaches 40 below for about 2 weeks of the year; usually about 0 degrees F. It may not be the best place to live but the populations about 700K now so there's definitely no shortage of places to go and things to do; trendy Whyte avenue comes to mind.

heck, even 0 degrees F is pretty darn cold.

in order for that to be done properly I'd think it would have to be heavy on the FPS elements.  If they did that I'd be in.

Why fps? I'm not saying stick to the WoW way of combat, but I don't think it would have to be like a FPS game to work. Certainly for dueling..."meet me in the street at high noon" type stuff..."Draw pardner"....smile)

I really need a new MMORPG. I'm almost at the point of going back into CoH-CoV.

You know what MMORPG I miss? I miss the early days of SWG. Yeah, I know wha?????

I loved the Star Wars feel. I know lots complained it didn't nail down the atmosphere enough, but for me it was fine.
I love the way the game looked, I loved the "classes" you could develop. The crafting system actually had some depth to it..And for me to say that about crafting is amazing in and of itself.

There were tons of iffy and negative stuff about SWG but over-all I would love to have a sci-fi MMORPG that was as immersive and fun as the early months of SWG.

I'm so fed up with Orc, elves, hobbits, mages, etc..............

So whats the big ones on the horizon? More Orc's, elves, dwarves, and half-dressed gladiators that can kill a 12 ft Ogre with one swing... Warhammer, Conan.

I wanted  TR to be the Sci-Fi game to bring back those old feelings. It doesn't look like that going to happen...shame...

So, its gone gold?? Wha?? Why does it feel this came out of nowhere? Shh, I am not a mushroom...I might be kept in the dark but I'm not fed  Sh**.

Anywho, is this game good or what? I need to close down WoW once and for all. WoW feels like a girlfriend who's over-stayed her welcome. On the one hand she's familiar and on the other she's flat out boring.

Can you beta boys talk yet?
2025  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Re: LOTRO - State of the game on: September 06, 2007, 02:01:53 PM
Is it fun?
Seriously though...I tested it as well, and while I'm a Tolkien fan of long standing, the game felt dead and boring.
I wasn't a month into testing and I couldn't bring myself to log on anymore. Before testing I would have sworn black and blue any Lord of the Rings game done well would have me in spades. While the game felt like it was created lovingly and with expertise...it just lacked that certain "magic" that other new, well done MMORPG's have had for me.

I would love to kick my WoW habit, but I need a MMORPG to play. I'm not sure I could do Lotro again. But if what has changed has added a "living, breathing, world" feel to it......I might have to take another look.

Also, I don't like crafting, never have. I'm a gatherer in WoW(skinning, herbalism)thats the extent of my crafting play.
Does Lotro have something other than making stuff for gaining more money? Not just looting, I mean like gathering?

Thanks.
