1  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / I just won 100 Grand!!! on: June 30, 2005, 02:37:55 AM
Wow...that's an old joke. I can remember hearing this done to a guy on the radio some 5 or 6 years ago. Only difference was they told him right away. He said he was going to get rid of his "*hit box truck" and they said "how ya gonna do that with a  candy bar". Needless to say he was pissed.
2  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / CTmod for WoW 1.76 on: March 09, 2005, 10:55:20 PM
I have and love CTMod but is there a way to avoid having to reset your bars after each patch? I am sure there must be but it's getting annoying.

6  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Apprentice Season 3 thus far on: January 30, 2005, 10:36:49 PM
The women all have a real take-charge attitude without coming across as bitchy

Huh?? That Kristin chick is was so bitchy that a woman on her OWN team told her to shut the f*ck up and get out of the van. She also yelled and cussed at the team lead although he deserved most of it.

But I agree...the show seems like it will be just as enoyable as the previous one. They have a good formula.

8  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / What if WoW was not made by Blizzard? on: January 18, 2005, 10:41:41 PM
Sorry but I disagree. I could care less who made this game and the fact that Blizzrd made it mattered none to me. I have been waiting for an online rpg experience this good since I left UO some 5 years ago. No other MMORPG has grabbed like this one and even at level 26 I still smile nearly every time I play. They just do so many things right and make the whole experience enjoyable. This coming from someone who had never played any of the Warcraft games.
9  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Anyone know if Best Buy will restock the Xbox holiday bundle on: January 01, 2005, 02:49:59 PM
I have some gift cards burning a hole in my wallet but they are currently out of stock of not just the bundle but all Xbox consoles. I really want the bundle though with Top Spin, NCAA and 2 months of Live!.

10  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / WoW's population growing? on: December 28, 2004, 01:47:42 AM
Yeah they closed the beta a few days before release so I went and bought the full game a few days after release. Me and a friend play almost nightly. There's just so many cool touches in the game.  Even after playing as much as I have the game makes me smile every time I play. We even have fun just rolling for the good loot after a kill. It's such a unique and yet simple way to divy up the good stuff. When a mob drops a big time item you are presented with a box where you can pass or click on a pair of dice. Every one in the group clicks to roll and highest roll wins. Fun and fair. Just one small example of the many things that Blizzard did right and it all comes together to make a remarkable experience.

this doesn't surprise me, as of today (28th), you cannot find WoW ANYwhere for sale, either online or in B&M stores.

My friend and I wanted to get it and start playing, and we can't!

update: I stand corrected! just found it at GoGamer, IN STOCK, yay! ordered with overnight, should be here tomorrow.

What changed your mind? Thanks to your login you gave me I played it over a couple of nights during beta and realized what an awesome game it was. One of if not my top gaming experiences.

I'm back to using Cosmos but I noticed something a little odd last night.

I created a rogue human character (christ, i REALLY need to stop creating characters, running them 6 or 7, and going on to another as soon as i read a post about how cool THAT one is) and set up the hot bars they way i wanted them.  however, as soon as i stealthed it emptied my hotbar.  is this normal behaviour?

When you use stealth you have a completely separate bar that you can put whatever you want on.
16  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / WoW: it's a WAR out there, man! (Dueling) on: December 09, 2004, 01:03:57 PM
Which is the very reason I shelved my level 15 warrior and started a Night Elf Rogue. I got sick of losing half my health to mobs that were right at my level. So far at level 5 I am very happy with my new character.
17  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / First night of WoW. Awesome on: December 08, 2004, 11:48:12 PM
For all you Rogues...what are some good professional choices for my soon to be created Night Elf Rogue? Functionality for my rogue is just as important as the income it will generate.

18  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / WoW: Q&A, Hints and Tips, Etc. on: December 04, 2004, 03:57:54 PM
Ok...dumb question. How can I get to Ironwood from Stormforge which was my home city. I have a quest to deliver a letter and can't figure how to get there. The only route I see is blocked by a locked gate. Is there a quest near the gate for the key? Is it a level restriction type thing? The only other open areas are contested areas and I am not nearly high enough in level to make it through those yet being only level 14.
19  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / WoW: Q&A, Hints and Tips, Etc. on: November 30, 2004, 06:38:30 PM
Well being a Warrior I have the Mace skill and use a mace currently but found a nifty hammer that I want to use but when I go to equip it it says my skill is not high enough. The level requirement is level 10 and I am level 12. I will check it again tonight to get the exact message.

BTW, great tip on asking the guards for locations. Not only will they tell you where it is but it will also place a marker on your map.
20  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / WoW: Q&A, Hints and Tips, Etc. on: November 30, 2004, 05:24:30 PM
Thought I'd start a thread dedicated to those WoW questions you can't seem to find an answer to and perhaps for others to add their wisdom with helpful hints and tips and such.

My questions:

- How do you find how many talent points you have available?

- Is there a trainer to improve certain weapon skills (e.g. mace) or do weapon skills only improve through use? There are weapons I see that I would like to use but am unable to not based my character's level but my current skill level with that weapon.
21  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / haha @ WOW on: November 25, 2004, 11:02:34 PM
I played for almost 4 hours last night and had absolutely no lag whatsoever. I had a complete blast and can see myself sticking with it which will be the first MMORPG I have done that with since UO.
22  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Getting sick while playing HL2 on: November 25, 2004, 06:56:47 AM
Thought I'd chime in...The only game to ever make me sick was Spear of Destiny a looong time ago. The airboat sequence didn't quite make me sick but they did make me feel a bit queazy. Hopefully now that I am done with that section it will cease.

29  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Half-Life 2 Impressions (Possible Spoilers) on: November 20, 2004, 02:15:38 PM
I bought and downloaded it last night via Steam without the slightest hitch...very impressed with that delivery method.

I played for about 2 hours and am currently winding my way through the "Kanal" level. The game is good so far it ok for me to be slightly disappointed at this point? Nothing so far has been anything more than standard FPS fare. I am shooting the same things over and over again with little variety and I just haven't been wowed like I was expecting based on the overwhelming responses in this thread. Am I missing something or does it really start to get better as the game progresses?
30  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Silent Storm... wow!! on: November 20, 2004, 02:02:11 AM
Silent Storm is one of the best and most rewarding games I have played in the last few years and one of my all time faves. It just grabbed me right from the beginning and even though dealing with panzers was tough and frustrating...still fun in the end after finally getting past them. The console save though is a must.

-publisher supplies CD key on a scratch-off card, like a lottery ticket.  That way even if the box is opened the CD key is not exposed.   Store employees show customer that CD key is protected when they buy the game.  Again, this isn't hard.  I think ATI did this with the HL2 coupon they provided with their video cards.  The paper clearly stated that if it was scratched off the card could not be returned.  Simple.

That, my friend, is a freaking brilliant suggestion. What a great idea, simple but effective. Bravo!  biggrin

If the problem is a duplicate CD key then you have two people with unscratched but identical keys so you'd be right back where is Alice is.

Yeah Best Buy selling a product customers want. What "dicks" they are.

Are they?  I always thought customers wanted a game that works.

In ~14 hours, they will have precisely that.

But not when they sold it thus Jeff's response.
33  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / I'd like a WoW beta key if anyone has one to spare on: November 13, 2004, 04:14:44 PM

BTW...does anyone else get a long delay while it "retrieves character list" on realms where you have no characters?
34  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / I'd like a WoW beta key if anyone has one to spare on: November 13, 2004, 01:57:30 PM
I haven't tried a MMORPG since I was heavily into UO and WoW looks like something I might like based what I have read about it...especially about the ease of soloing.

Thanks in advance!

orb weaver aka Garden Spider. They are prevalent in the south and harmless but grow to be pretty big and can wrap up a bug with the best of 'em. We have them around our house all the time in the summer.
