561  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / @#$%&@#$% Freaking ATI! I want my HL2 as promised! on: February 11, 2005, 11:39:55 PM
Going through the website it looks like your beef should be with ATI not Valve. Unless you are blaming Valve for making you get the physical CD from ATI because of your hatred of Steam. And even if Ati aren't the ones physically sending you the cds wouldn't it be Vivendi that deals with the boxed product?

He decided it was a good idea to carry a "real" gun into the school, on his person, and even worse, to brag to another student about it?

But it wasn't a real gun. He realized that when he saw it up close. The only person claimed it looked real was the principal.

Well great. Now I'm trying to remember where I saw a flashed based movie on how to keep your father off the internet.

Ha ha, found it. And another nice one from these guys.

I work at Fred Meyer as a price changer. Every Sunday when a new Ad comes out I have about 1000 new price tags that need to be placed. It's a fun activity made even better by the fact that since there is no crowd sound at midnight you can hear the same songs being played night after night in perfect clarity.
566  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Need music recommendations on: January 25, 2005, 07:13:59 PM
Every Sunday, at work, I walk back and forth for about 8 hours and the music helps to keep me going at a set pace. So essentially what I want is something with a fast beat. Was just hoping that there were other bands with a sound similar to Aqua.

Should also note that though Techo, House, whatever, fits the fast beat criteria it tends to blend into itself which isn't what I want.
567  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Dreamcast Online on: January 25, 2005, 07:02:56 PM
Had a friend that got Phantasy Star Online in an auction and sure enough he could play it online. I'm not sure it that stands for all the games though.

Finally caved in and bought both of Aqua's albums and am now looking for something similar. Something that is as up tempo and bubbly with a female singer.
569  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Is PN03 for Gamecube worth a darn on: January 23, 2005, 05:05:22 PM
I would probably pick it up. Just remember even though it looks like a FPS doesn't mean that it is one. Think of it as a shooter (Gradius etc.), and if you like those then this one will be just fine.

576  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Any Art Bell fans? Remember Mel's Hole? (SFW ;)) on: January 15, 2005, 06:04:23 AM
I actually liked the fact that Art never tried (At least when I listened) to refute anyones claims. He would question to get a more complete picture and perhaps reveal the person was full of it. But in general he let the listener decide which in this day and age is refreshing. I'm sure after each show bulletin boards or forums (Whichever were more widespread for the time) would be wild claims for this way or that.
577  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Any Art Bell fans? Remember Mel's Hole? (SFW ;)) on: January 15, 2005, 05:57:33 AM
Well, I just went back over the two albums that I have of theirs and I guess it was from Lateralus. Title was Faaip de Oiad. Apparently the caller later admitted it was a hoax, though it was strange that the satellite went out during the broadcast.

The song I originally thought about was Cearo Summability which is your California breaking into the sea thing.

I still wouldn't mind hearing the full broadcast without all the synth.

I'd be curious if there was anymore correspondence from the freaked out guy that was featured on Tools' album Aenima.

I used to listed to Mr Bell often until he left the first time, then it was hit or miss. Now I can't since I'm working then.

584  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / EB Games Price gouging ?? on: January 13, 2005, 01:09:57 AM
I would think the value of an item depends on the availability of it. If I can order it online, two or three years later, with little to no searching, then no the value is not high. But if that item is very rare then the value raises. Cases in point would be Alpha Centarii (Before re-release), Kilrathi Saga, Symphony of Night. Movies could also fit into this catagory if they had a limited release before the standard.

I've always seen the Collectors Edition to be more for the viewers benefit than their wallets. It's more of a we'll give you everything we have on this movie/game/whatever so you can know more about the mythos behind it.

586  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Need some TV recommendations on: January 10, 2005, 10:19:53 PM
I would go with DS9 if you are really into a more character driven plotline versus a reactive one. While I didn't really like the majority of Bajorian stories the series in general doesn't have a high and low point. There is more backstory, and on-going plots, as opposed to say TNG. But just like TNG be prepared to spend the money if you want all 7 seasons.

You might try a mini series called Ultraviolet. I'm hesitent to describe it as a British X-Files but I suppose that's the closest you could get.

I'm four seasons into Buffy and two into Angel and right now I would go with Angel. It didn't have that valley girl feel that Buffy does. Not that BtVS is bad just not as good. Though admittedly I haven't watched either for about a year as I'm waiting for all the seasons to be out.

About the only other Sci-Fi shows that I like are Dark Angel, Forever Knight, Le Femme Nikita, and Stargate SG-1.

592  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Cable Modem Speed on: January 08, 2005, 10:24:33 AM
The question is what speed are you paying for versus what you are getting. If all you want to know is if these are good speeds, then yes.

I'm currently paying for a 3 mb down 256 kb up. What I'm getting currently is 2862/228. It tends to fluctuate and these are best condition speeds. Meaning that most sites I visit or downloads I initiate will not be this fast.

It certainly depends on where you live. If there a decent amount of compitition then the prices will be lower in some stores. Around here though you would be lucky to break the 17 dollar price point.

597  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / There's a part of me that wants to see what happens on: January 03, 2005, 12:38:19 AM
A few days ago my microwave decided to kill everyone. Basically what happens when I start it is that after a couple seconds it is filled with a orange light and makes sounds like it has foil in it.

Common sense tells me that I should just toss it and forget all about it, and yet there's a part of me that wants to put it in the middle of the yard and see what happens after a couple minutes. Maybe I can become a super-hero if I stand in front of it.
598  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / HL2 Level Help Thread on: December 28, 2004, 07:08:50 PM
It really isn't like the first game where you turn a corner and there he is. This time around he is much more content to pull the strings from a distance. Which probably has to do with the fact that he sent you there, and has a vested interest, versus just watching what you were doing.

I only saw him once (Red Barn) and didn't realize that until I went here. Minor to Major Spoilers. If you stick with just the pictures on the top you should be fine.
