We should do a GT NFL Team power rankings.  Ranking the Crap of the Crop of the NFL.

49ers
Buffalo
Dallas

I don't even know which of them is the best.

I KNEW this was a trap game.

Same old inconsistent false hope raising Buffalo team.

Somethings never change.

Plan to play Bf4 for the first time in a month.

Also Valiant Hearts: The Great War.
87  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Valiant Hearts : The Great War on: October 02, 2015, 04:44:44 PM
This is the free game for Live this month.

I've been wanting to play it since it was released, but never got around to it. Came SO close to buying it when it was 10.00, but knew they were going to give it away at some point.

I completed the first chapter last night and it is a wonderful little game.  Educational. Appropriately serious. Sprinkled with  bits of humor.  Excellent.

Highly recommend.

90  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Article about how the GiantBomb crew coped after Ryan's passing on: October 01, 2015, 01:29:34 PM
Very interested to read this.

Agree about Jeff's negativity, but I couldn't blame him.  I hate that Vinny moved back east as he was my second favorite after Ryan. The Beastcast just annoys me though because Vinny is a terrible host, I don't really care for Navarro and the other guys are dead weight. .

I liked Dan Reichert from the very beginning and his naive boy-man ways.  Jason is also a fine middle ground between Dan and Jeff.  Brad is a terrifc host, but still my least favorite of the original four.
91  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Is There a Better Zombie Book Than World War Z? on: September 30, 2015, 12:45:32 PM
I'm re-reading World War Z and it is just about perfect with regard to how it presents the zombie crisis and the human response to it.  Is there anything out there that even comes close?

I think what I like most about it is the individual stories and how they create an overall narrative- despite not spending copious pages about zombies eating people and guts and gore and etc.

Any recommendations out there?

I'm not really interested in graphic novels or things like that.

Yow.

94  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: [movie] Mad Max Returns in Fury Road on: September 22, 2015, 12:43:27 PM
Aliens disturbed me. It still disturbs me, but it's also one of the best sci-fi and horror (I don't watch many) movies i've ever seen.  I'm still scared by what I saw in that film.

The hopelessness, the inevitability, the unstoppable nature of the enemy.  It wasn't like predator where you knew arnie was going to win the day.   Characters that I liked were getting eviscerated in terrible ways.  Hudson being pulled into the floor....ughhhh.

Great film. Haven't seen it in 20+ years.

Oh man.  Really trying to hold it together. One game doesn't mean anything. But we might be on the cusp of something special in Buffalo.

Must...not...become...optimistic....

They have guaranteed at least a  1-15 season.

There's that's more like it.

99  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: [movie] Mad Max Returns in Fury Road on: September 09, 2015, 05:30:21 PM
Finally saw it. Thought the vision was true to the Mad Max World and was very disturbing and there were some very interesting battles and scenes.

However, the lack of engine noise in a lot of the scenes (while I understand why they did it that way) detracted from the film overall, imo as they were key to the first two movies (never saw the third).

The larger than life characters were fun and it was appropriately crazy/head scratching/awesome/disturbing/WTF.

The Road Warrior is probably my #1 movie of all time with regard to impact it has had on me and # of watches.  I think this was a fine companion and I'd like to see it again to 'take it all in.'

I give it 4/5.

Are you really so naive to say that this isn't the new normal? The fringe are running things now.

They have us believing that fundamental things are no longer true.  there's more than two sexes!  Being abnormal is normal.  Mental disorder trumps logic and history and science. A guy is a girl because he thinks he is.  Try to fix the disconnect? No!  Embrace it!  Change the whole world so that mental disfunction is accomdated...

Its preposterous.

Again, the left's method to label anyone who disagrees with them as someone full of hate is effective, but that doesn't mean it's true. I am none of those things.

It wasn't on any level different than tilt's post, yet here we are.

What the hell? You keep whining about your persecution complex on this forum, and then when someone actually tries to give you a serious answer and encourage actual discussion, you go straight into accusation territory.

I didn't know if it was a serious answer which is why I asked.  Justifying this kind of lunacy, I thought, required a check to make sure you weren't kidding.  Get it?

Had fun with it last night but the party/game chat is broken.  Beta and all that.

Settled in to using an AR and focused on the attachments rather than perks.  Had about 5 games in a row with positive K/D. I'm at 1.2 for those of you keeping track at home (update your spreadsheets!).

Problem is the games are so self-reverential and I haven't played anything since MGS4.  I don't mind taking the time to get caught up as I don't plan on buying it at launch anyway (MGS4 was the reason I bought the PS3).

Additionally, I have completely lost track of who is who and what the overarching narrative is.  I thought MGS4 was the perfect conclusion, but I cannot remember anything that happened in it. smile

ATB, this line from Destructoid seems to address your very concern

For those of you who are curious, you won't be completely lost if you haven't played previous games in the series, but Snake Eater and Peace Walker knowledge will definitely up your enjoyment of the narrative

That's fine. I'm kind of interested in boning up on the lore anyway... I watched the Metal Gear video already and man did I love that game on the NES.  Skipped 2, and am now working on MGS1.  IT's 4 hours long. Gonna be a few weeks I think. slywink

The movement is much better than AW, but the beta maps are not particularly interesting as the focus on verticality has removed anything of interest horizontally- the maps, like AW, all seem to be focused on forcing head on collision after head on collision. The weapons feel better and the powers are useful (the two that I've tried).

The game is very fast and you die very quickly.  Right now I'd give my experience a C+/B- and am thus far not leaning toward purchase.  I think the skills necessary to compete in this franchise may have passed me by.
