Set in 2002, it focuses on the life of small-time lawyer Saul Goodman (Bob Odenkirk) six years before his appearance on Breaking Bad, though events during and after the original series will also be explored.

I should be a fugging screen writer!

He can't be in witness protection if they're making a new show where he continues doing business as Saul Goodman, right?

Was curious, actually, about how they were going to do that...if perhaps the show focuses around Saul BEFORE he meets WW. That would be pretty interesting actually. Show how he connected with Gus and Mike but only as call backs to BB, not main plot points.

Could be an interesting show but I'm not sure it can support the weight of a whole series...

Why do you buy Destiny over and over and over again?

I am hoping to find either A) a limited edition or B) a digital guardian version for XB1

I want them to take my money but they won't!   crybaby

Prediction: You'll be sick and tired of the game one week after release. Tongue

Oh lawd! I hope not.  If I am I can see myself not gaming for a while.

I agree that the first two seasons are a little clunky and formulaic.  I would say that it's the one-two punch of Gus and Saul that not only turned the show around but also opened things up, giving them new avenues to explore.

I'm glad to see these comments here, too, because I made this same statement the other day with three people in various states of watching the series (one was almost done, one about half way through, and the last was thinking about starting).  I mentioned the awkward first couple of seasons as a way of warning the guy not to give up on it (I would have, if people hadn't been raving so hard), but the other two guys looked at me like I'd said something blasphemous.

Saul was critical writing and plot device. Every time regular joe's walt and jesse needed something that a real person would have no idea how to do, it was explained away that Saul had contacts.   Plausible and an easy out for when the writers could have hit a dead end.

But this is also is why I kind of didn't buy that saul was in 'witness protection' at the end.

I haven't been playing much.  New maps did nothing for me and it's the first map pack I haven't loved.  But it may be tied into the fact that the only thing I want to play is Destiny.

Just hit 280 hours of play.

Flags Capped: 2,923
Flags Defended: 2,978

Spoils

Season 5 was easily the best season of the show's run. Can't imagine having had to wait a week between episodes.

I'm not a BB nuthugger as I think the first two seasons were pretty mediocre. However, when Gus came on the scene things really started picking up.

Season five took it to a whole new level of tension and depth.  Thought it was just about perfect.

Final episode was excellent and did what it needed to do.

Also, I'm going to say that this show has some of the best directing ever seen on tv.  I would occasionally get annoyed by some of the kooky camera work, but when I settled in and just watched, i realized that it would eventually lead somewhere.

Edit: there were also brave choices in the writing.  Having Gomie killed off screen was very potent...and the show consistently had people die who didn't 'deserve' it.  They did a good job in just a few scenes showing the weight and impact of Hank being killed.

I'd give the overall series a 4/5.

XB1 exclusives: hopefully it's something I don't know about because nothing announced at E3 even so much as raised an eyebrow.

From what I understand Kojima came out in a bikini and he's replacing Lara Croft in the XB1 exclusive version of Tomb Raider.

They didn't even really have a plan for the war other than to race for baghdad.  If they had consolidated as they went it would have made things more secure, but probably more bloody and protracted for the original invasion.

Tomb Raider is an odd pick.

I don't see it as a big enough franchise to be a system seller so why do it at all? It's likely not going to drive XB1 sales...

I think titanfall points to the fact that not all of the problems with the IW core were Activision's fault and they had ceded COD A game developer title to Treyarch quite a while before that.

I think Moliere's semi-serious point is that the dems have been blaming everything on Bush from the beginning and are still doing so.

Now obviously, he got us into this mess in Iraq by lying his ass off, but Obama has not necessarily been stalwart or focused or consistent in how he deals with foreign policy flares ups  in the middle east anywhere.

I went with a battlemage and a wayfarer as my two characters to avoid the cliche have one ranged guy and one melee guy.

However, they're inordinately weak in combat and have very few options spell/skill wise. I found a level 3 NPC and he had a host of more capable spells and such.

Did I just pick weak classes?

Listen to the Bombcast week in and week out but it's far less fun than it used to be. New blood seems to be making it more enjoyable, but Gerstmann has become so cynical about EVERYTHING that it just drains the life out of the show.

So naturally I type this and then finally get to the 7/22 podcast where Brad has taken over as host and it's the best show they've done in a long time. Lots of tangential conversations about movies, food and pooping.  Rykert is a character.

I've spent about 5 hours in this game and I'm pretty sure it's not for me.

I am very very VERY bored at this point and the first quest is less than interesting as far as I'm concerned. Not really interested in running from building to building and searching every crate and basket for obscure clues about a quest I care very little about.

There's not enough combat and I'm finding the dialogue between party members confusing especially when i make them disagree and we have to do the RPS.

Sooo.  Unless there's a huge uptick in combat (lots of the fights are too hard too at this point) I guess I'm still looking for that game to tide me over until Divinity.

191  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Where do you stand on the crucial topic of hotdogs? on: August 07, 2014, 01:46:38 PM
Listen: I used to like hotdogs.  It was never a staple, but I was down for a dog ever once in a while.

Grilled.
Boiled.
Steamed.
Even heat roller dogs at fundraisers.

Buns, no buns.  Ketchup. Mustard. Onions. Pickles. Cheese sometimes. Put the kitchen sink on there (not into chili or relish).

Chicago style. Sure.

Vendor dogs on the streets in the city. O'hale yus.

But now.  I pretty much find them revolting.  Don't like nathans anymore. Can't stand any of the other supermarket brands.  Trader Joe's organic- barf.  Only ones I kind of like are Salen's but even then I'd rather have just about anything else.

So what can be done?
