A love for one's spouse has nothing to do with religious beliefs as far as I'm concerned.

Well obviously a secular position.  A Christian would say it has EVERYTHING to do with it...hence why I think it's the most important one.  I'd still let you buy me a beer if we ever meet.   Fabulous

1. Have I made you feel loved today?
2. Have I made you feel cherished today?

I really like this.  I need to be far more proactive with these in my marriage as well, as I tend to really take her for granted.  This sort of daily affirmation will be a really good place to start.

Thanks for this input ATB.   thumbsup

As i mentioned before, my wife and I had a pretty big flare up at the end of 2014.  A lot of it had to do with the way that I (almost always) unintentionally make her feel...less than and/or prove her side of a decision.  Other areas included how selfish I've become with my time.

During this HEATED back and forth she said a few things specifically that resonated with me.  So now, every day I ask her three things before we go to sleep:

1. Have I made you feel loved today?
2. Have I made you feel cherished today?
3. Have I led you spiritually today?

These three questions and the impacts they've had on how i approach everything in the relationship have renewed an amazing sense of joy in our relationship.  It's pretty awesome and I praise God fo rit.

I think if you can get past the revisionist history (as rittchard so amazingly put it) that you never loved her and start asking these questions to her things will be illuminated in your character (and hers) and how you treat her that will allow you to heal and reunite.

My wife and I had some pretty heavy discussions in the past week or so- getting some really hurtful things on the table. Admittedly, most of them are my fault.  I am so optimistic right now about how we've recalibrated some things so that we will continue to grow and grow back together that I'm bursting with a joy I haven't known in a long time.

It will take an incredible amount of work.

Three things that differ from you:

1. We've never even considered divorce and never will. We promised that to each other long before we were married.

2. We are diving back in full hearted into seeking God again. Not with the scraps of our time, but as a priority and together.  I still contend that you truly need to seek Christ absent the lies of your former religion.

3. I am madly truly deeply in love with my wife and always have been.  You say you're not and never have been. Frankly, I think you're full of shit.  I think you're going through a patch where it's not what it is supposed to be in your head, or you've changed and are becoming more selfish.  No offense.

Also, 'not having anything in common' is easily fixable. But you have to be willing to work at it.

Happy New Year everyone.

I think this year has been another solid B.

  • I found a job that I really enjoy. Worked through some major obstacles to (mostly) deliver the project successfully
  • Family has been healthy and comfortable
  • Have begun putting into place some measures to make the big issues in life front and center
  • Read some great books- I recommend Joe Abercrombie. Love his work

  • I gained back all the weight I lost last year
  • Struggled spiritually due to neglect in reading the Word of God
  • Had a tough end to the year with sickness, hitting a deer with the car, and getting some key relationships back on track
  • GT has become a ghost town even more than last year
  • Knew better than to buy a next gen console. There were really no GREAT games this year that I played and there's not much I'm looking forward to next year either. Kind of transitioning out of video gaming.
  • Didn't read as much as I would have liked

I hope that 2014 has been okay for you and I hope that 2015 is your best year ever.

You didn't mention what kind of router... I'd be curious to know, I'm sure others would as well.

To answer the question... I wouldn't normally think they get that warm... err... normally. The power supply might, depending... my dlink's wall-wart was quite warm to the touch for a year or two before it failed, forcing me to source a replacement. (hint: radio shack has what you need) (the replacement does NOT get warm, which is reassuring)

Assuming there's nothing actually wrong with the router, and it does simply get warm to the touch... yes, a fan, or place it so it sits in the airflow for an a/c duct, or something. In particular, don't put it in a cramped space with poor airflow, like a closet/cabinet.

Well...the router is in the's a pretty big closet...but it's still a closet.

It's quite warm to the touch.  I've done a little looking into 'router cooling plates' or whatever they're called and they all rate crappy.

Any suggestions?  For keeping it cool? Is a regular old fan the way to go? Any recommendations?

To me it was a pretty lackluster year for games as many of the ones that I was looking forward to either got pushed to 2015 or came out and underwhelmed.

Favorite Game Played This Year: Battlefield 4.  Basically played it and nothing else for 9 months.  All the hate it got at launch was earned, but it has turned out to be one of the best multi-player games I've ever played

Least Favorite Game Played This Year: Call of Duty Advanced Warfare.  I gave it a fair shake.  I tried out the new abilities, guns, and perks. I tried the new killstreaks. I played all the maps over and over and came to the conclusion that it is just not a very good game.  Terrible in fact.

2014 Jekyll and Hide Award: Destiny.  The shooting, FPS controls, abilities, weapons, maps, ART are some of the best I've ever seen. The game is balanced perfectly and if you are killed in MP you died fairly.   But- the whole lack of content, grind grind grind, Bungie patching and ruining, and repetitive nature of just about everything prevents it from being my GOTY. I spent more time on this game than any other released in 2014, but upon DLC/Patch arrival, i simply walked away and right now I don't have any plans to go back (other than perhaps some PvP).  Game has potential out the wazoo, but right now it's not what it needs to be.

2014 Story of the Year: Gimme a Break.  So many huge releases put out in almost completely broken states.  I don't remember so many big titles being put out almost in succession and then simply not working or truly working poorly.  Fortunately, none of them were games that I was interested in so I missed the headaches...lots of folks, though, did not.

2014 GOTY: Guacamelee Super Turbo Championship Edition  This game is fun. I'm talking old school, smiling ear to ear, proper level of difficulty, incredible (and simple) art style, great controls, great sense of discovery fun.  I had a blast. Loved it from start to (almost) finish. It's my GOTY.

Had a 17-2 match last night which is the highlight of this comeback so far... otherwise have been pretty much going 1.0 in each match.

Haven't been playing too much as I'm still getting re-acclimated to the roadie run camera shake puke.

Ran into a pretty nice guy who helped me remember how to do some things and he updated me on some changes like that ink grenades no longer stun (so there's basically no reason to use them anymore).

Still getting used to aiming (and aiming).

Maps are still way awesome.

Well, I thought Red Country was fine. I liked the returning character a lot, but overall the story was indeed a bit weak. The world in those books is so unfair though.

Yes. I was really excited upon the first hint of that character's return, but it just didn't come together the way that I was hoping.

My favorite part was:

Spoiler for Hiden:
The fight with Glama Golden.  He's only in the book for a short period of time, but it was enough to already begin relating to him- and that's what Abercrombie does best, write real characters. You get one perspective from one character and then when he switches the focus to the actual character the complexities and layers of who they really are come into view.  It was also neat to hear the voice of a character on the receiving end of the Bloody Nine

Second favorite part was:

Spoiler for Hiden:
Caul Shivers letting Lamb go.  He finally was able to be a better man.

Quote from: The Rocketman on December 18, 2014, 07:54:14 AM

It's cold, and muddy, and full of cheaters and killers, with just a few rays of light. This makes the books a bit exhausting to read sometimes, especially the Heroes.

Abercrombie has become one of my favorite authors for his ability write real characters and have them express real emotions, doubts, and fears.  There are no supermen in his books.  Also, the amazing ways he shifts the focus of the story onto background players yet still keeps it riveting and real.  So many potential characters to explore!

That's why I found the original trilogy the best: the added epicness and grandeur helps offset this bleak world.

I can see that, but there's so much Bayaz and I simply hate him. HATE him.

Return of the King Baby!  Burned out on Destiny so back to the greatest MP game of all time.

True it has been over 13 months since I played this game.

True the Roadie Run gives me motion sickness at this point in time.

True my skills have completely eroded and i don't even remember some of the basics

True I have no idea how to win a firefight or even hit the broadside of the barn.

True it will probably take me +/- 3 weeks to get back into playing shape.

But, MAN, do I already remember why I love this game so much.

Played 3 matches:
