Im not a SONY hater.. but damn if there isnt a fall from grace hapening there. 10 years ago, SONY was the premier name when you are looking for a television, nowadays they are not selling like that... Do they even make a plasma? Im not so sure they will have the same lead this generation.

Ever heard of a WEGA?  Sony is still a premiere TV maker.

I love the WEGA line of course.

I misspoke, SONY posted earnings blaming horrendous earnings due to poor television sales was one of the issues. And if you go to Best Buy, there are Sony's but they are a small percentage of what is sold.

I should say they are premier.... with boutique prices.

Bah. they want you to think they're premier. They're junk, imo.  I hate sony electronics (except for one radio I own that's the best I've ever had) cause they 'innovate' them just enough to make them difficult to use.

I wouldn't buy an EB exchange for anything. There have been too many horror stories about the shenannigans that they pull.

MS warranty...hmmmm. I dunno. The ship and return policy sucks.

Bestbuy...anyone know about how they've dealt with broken 360s?

As for Costco, I'd have to join just to get the 360 as it's way in durham...

I wouldn't consider more than 5 million XBox 360s sold as being "floundering".  They have obvious problems in Japan, but elsewhere it is an extremely valid platform.

Microsoft's announced that they've shipped more than 5 million consoles to retail. Best estimates are that the 360 has sold less than 3.5 million consoles to consumers. It's currently selling at a slower rate than the original Xbox did when it was first released, although that's primarily due to the $400 price point and initial shortages.
Especially since Nintendo plans on selling 5 million plus this holiday alone.

I know that everyone, including myself, is bananas for the Wii, but is that target number even remotely realistic? Has a console EVER moved that many units in such a short timeline?...well I guess the DS Lite did.
14689  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Console Early Adoption: Worth the Hassle? Also, History Question! on: August 15, 2006, 11:40:37 AM
Everyone who is here knows of the woes of the 360 failures and while it may seem widespread given the circles we run, I wonder how it rates against other new hardware releases.

I've never owned a console on release other than Super Nintendo (which I returned cause it just didn't do it for me) and the DS Lite (which I don't know counts), so is the failure rate for 360 significantly higher than say NES, SNES, N64, GC, SEGA, PS1, PS2, Turbographix, etc?  I know the original XBOX also had 'significant' problems with the Thompson drive- so is it soley poor design/implementation by MS?

True consoles are more complicated than older versions, but each, in their time, was considered a very advanced piece of hardware.

I'm also curious if the thrill of possession is worth the hassle and worry of potential poor construction.

Again, I know Nintendo's rep, but fears of poor manufacturer are teh only thing making me hesitant to pick up a Wii on launch day...

With the glut of really neat looking games coming out, I was thinking about possibly maybe getting one this holiday season if there's a price drop, but man, stories like this make me gunshy.  I'm very sorry for all of you who have had to deal with this.

Is there still any talk of a redesign/hardware update in early 2007?  Maybe Christmas 07 will be the time to get one.

I am by no means a gaming master, but combat in SOT was never a problem for me. I remember people saying it was SO hard even when it first came out...but I never seemed to have a problem.

Now there was a fight in TTT that actaully caused me to break my controller (literally) but it was because I i had so little life and would die in 2 hits. The rest of the game wasn't bad...neither was WW...

Good luck!

What is real time weapon switching?

Does that mean it takes say 5 seconds to put your assault rifle over your shoulder with the strap and pull the pistol from your holster?

I've heard of RTWS but I don't know that I've ever seen it defined.

Had no interest in this game. Trailer looks very interesting and I'll be checking to see the reviews...cause it's now on my watch list!

I never got bullied much in school except for a couple times my freshman year.

One time a guy was hassling me and kept hassling me, so I shoved him over a desk, he got up, slapped me in the side of the head and that was it.

Another time, two seniors threw my glasses across the bus cause I wouldn't give them my seat.  The next day I had my big brother and his friend meet one of them at the bus stop. That pretty much ended that.

The second guy wasn't there to meet my back up, but he never bothered me again either. However, he did continue to pick on my best friend- who would be the starting offensive tackle for 3 of the 4 years we attended Oakton High and was and still is  the strongest person I've ever known in my life.  Needless to say, he lost the eventual fight and probably still has a lisp due to the dental work required to place his front teeth back in his mouth.

Ahh...high school the worst social experiment ever inflicted on children.

Uhm. Devi is a lot of drama still. Kobra finally got the perma ban he deserved. I voted for it, but lost a friend out of it. Sadly. He wanted me to be bias about my decision for his perma ban. O.o I mean, if you look at his record the whole time he's been here.. All he does it flame, harrass, argue, whine. Whether or not he's a friend to me, doesn't mean I'm going to LIE to his face or anyone else's and be bias. As a GM, you shouldn't be bias anyways. o_o It's really kind of stupid, he took it as 'backstabbing.' I don't know, I don't think he's good for Devi. Whether or not I believed that the screenshot of his 'packetting' was actually packetting. To me there was a big difference from the screenshot taken of him, packetting and the time he packetted for testing. And seeing a difference. Sadly I think he was trying to prove there IS no difference, but there really is.. xD Maybe he did packet, considering the point he was trying to prove? I dunno. O.o But there was a difference to me. It's just funny how he takes things so personal.. But, oh well. He's the one who decided to drop the "two year friendship." Not me. I don't drop friendships over silly shit like that. I mean, god. He also tried to prove that Shiros and I were inactive with GMing on Devilish. Which is pure bullshit. We normally wake up and then GM and stuff. -.-; That or we get on before we sleep. And it's really EVERY day. We may have missed one day, sure. But god.

I'd be interested in someone's opinion on this who didn't play Superstar Saga first.  My feeling on Partners in Time isn't that it's actually worse, it just isn't really much of an improvement so it doesn't feel nearly as fresh.  I wouldn't be surprised to find that a person who plays PiT first would either prefers it to SS or doesn't find SS to really be that much better.

Got a copy you want to send me? If so, i'll be your guy slywink.

I'm shopping for it and it appears that cartridge only looks like the way to go for cheap (do they explain all the moves in SS like they do in PiT)?

Otherwise it'll be 20+ and I'm not in the mood to spend that much yet.

As said somewhere, M&L partners in time what is currently dominating my play time.

That said, M&L SS actually has higher ratings, but it's a GBA card. Is there a graphical difference between the GBA games and the DS ones? Is it significant?

Will I be able to successfully go back and play SS if I'm used to the controls and innovaiton of PiT?

Advice porfavor.
14711  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Would you Buy the Wii for $229? on: August 08, 2006, 01:31:40 PM
For 229.00 yep. No doubt.

That said, I'm hesitant about being an early adopter of a console (got the DS lite at launch but I don't think that counts).

I've never been one and have always been the beneficiary of that choice.

Also, though Nintendo's rep for creating impecable hardware is sound, all the difficulties people have had with 360 makes me gunshy.
