I have to say, that Bully has sort of become my most anticipated game.  I don't know why really. Perhaps it's because I look at the really neat desktop from the game all day every day.

I'm rather excited about this one.

First he won't let me into his forums and now THIS!?    :slywink:

BTW- Dissing Tom is ridiculous. He's a fabulous writer and as I said in the other thread, Three Finger Salute is one of the best monthly columns around (or was when I subbed to CGM).

Also, CGM is by far and away the best computer gaming magazine there is. The editing isn't always the best, but as someone else said, the articles are top notch and the columns are very well thought out and executed.  The fact that it has the smallest circulation is because it doesn't (or didn't- it's been a while) feature boobies and stories about porn or h0t ch1xx (other than Tom slywink).  I continued to subscribe to it well after I stopped gaming on the PC because of its quality.

If you're a PC gamer, you should at least buy a copy off the stands to check it out if not subscribe outright.

Oh and though Bauman's editorial control isn't all that tight, I think he runs the best magazine in the business regardless of gaming platform.

Oh he's fine. But not for this role. I could see him as Link before I see him as Agent 47. I mean the only thing he has in common is the bald head.

I bet they 'cool' him all up too. 47 is the assassin with 'tude. Cool sunglasses and hot bab3z.  He's a bad mother...HEY! Watch your mouth!

10.00 at EB.

Heard great things about it though the controls are seen as a weakness.

I spent about 30 minutes on this tonight and have questions:

1. WTF!?
2. Am I going to have nightmares tonight? If so, how bad will they be?
3. Has there ever been a game as stylish as this?
4. WTF?!

That is all.

One thing I completely forgot to mention is the virtual community surrounding gaming.

It's fluid, engaging and a sort of comradarie.  I think that also tips the scales in favor of the current gaming age too.
14252  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Is this the Best Time Ever to be a Game Player? on: August 16, 2006, 02:18:24 PM
These types of threads kick up great discussion, so here we are.

We're into (1/3 of the way) the next gen (is it now current gen?). 2 new consoles are on the way. The 360 is rolling, the DS is hot as heck, the PSP is expected to land some great titles in the near future, the PC (as best as I can tell) has had some very interesting titles released recently (Civ 4, HL2 episodes, Titan's Quest, etc) the current (or past gen), at least via the PS2 still has lots of life in it (GH2, GoW2, some other major title I can't remember) and on and on.

Now of course I have great memories of some of the great classics on many systems in the past (the days of the Arcade were marvelous to me for example), but has there every been a time where there has been so much variety of consistently good quality games across so many systems?

Curious as to your thoughts.

Im not a SONY hater.. but damn if there isnt a fall from grace hapening there. 10 years ago, SONY was the premier name when you are looking for a television, nowadays they are not selling like that... Do they even make a plasma? Im not so sure they will have the same lead this generation.

Ever heard of a WEGA?  Sony is still a premiere TV maker.

I love the WEGA line of course.

I misspoke, SONY posted earnings blaming horrendous earnings due to poor television sales was one of the issues. And if you go to Best Buy, there are Sony's but they are a small percentage of what is sold.

I should say they are premier.... with boutique prices.

Bah. they want you to think they're premier. They're junk, imo.  I hate sony electronics (except for one radio I own that's the best I've ever had) cause they 'innovate' them just enough to make them difficult to use.

MS warranty...hmmmm. I dunno. The ship and return policy sucks.

Bestbuy...anyone know about how they've dealt with broken 360s?

As for Costco, I'd have to join just to get the 360 as it's way in durham...

I wouldn't consider more than 5 million XBox 360s sold as being "floundering".  They have obvious problems in Japan, but elsewhere it is an extremely valid platform.

Microsoft's announced that they've shipped more than 5 million consoles to retail. Best estimates are that the 360 has sold less than 3.5 million consoles to consumers. It's currently selling at a slower rate than the original Xbox did when it was first released, although that's primarily due to the $400 price point and initial shortages.
Especially since Nintendo plans on selling 5 million plus this holiday alone.

I know that everyone, including myself, is bananas for the Wii, but is that target number even remotely realistic? Has a console EVER moved that many units in such a short timeline?...well I guess the DS Lite did.
14270  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Console Early Adoption: Worth the Hassle? Also, History Question! on: August 15, 2006, 11:40:37 AM
Everyone who is here knows of the woes of the 360 failures and while it may seem widespread given the circles we run, I wonder how it rates against other new hardware releases.

I've never owned a console on release other than Super Nintendo (which I returned cause it just didn't do it for me) and the DS Lite (which I don't know counts), so is the failure rate for 360 significantly higher than say NES, SNES, N64, GC, SEGA, PS1, PS2, Turbographix, etc?  I know the original XBOX also had 'significant' problems with the Thompson drive- so is it soley poor design/implementation by MS?

True consoles are more complicated than older versions, but each, in their time, was considered a very advanced piece of hardware.

I'm also curious if the thrill of possession is worth the hassle and worry of potential poor construction.

Again, I know Nintendo's rep, but fears of poor manufacturer are teh only thing making me hesitant to pick up a Wii on launch day...

With the glut of really neat looking games coming out, I was thinking about possibly maybe getting one this holiday season if there's a price drop, but man, stories like this make me gunshy.  I'm very sorry for all of you who have had to deal with this.

Is there still any talk of a redesign/hardware update in early 2007?  Maybe Christmas 07 will be the time to get one.

Now there was a fight in TTT that actaully caused me to break my controller (literally) but it was because I i had so little life and would die in 2 hits. The rest of the game wasn't bad...neither was WW...

Does that mean it takes say 5 seconds to put your assault rifle over your shoulder with the strap and pull the pistol from your holster?
