I just want to see a direct motion controlled Star Wars Jedi game. It's about as nerdy as my gaming urges are going to get, I'm sure, but I ain't gunna lie. I want my frickin' lightsaber!

And I hope the Wii is capable of pulling it off.

Hmm. Anyone know if there is force feedback in the wii controller? Say for example you're dueling with Darth Jar jar and you collide sabers...would you feel the impact in the controller?

From the demo it didn't appear that the controller vibrated when he was firing that uzi...I wonder if that's a second generation Wii advancement they have planned....

Hori screen protectors can be found at http://www.decalgirl.com.  I bought them and was just thinking to myself this weekend how glad I am that I put them on.

For the 8 or 9 bucks shipped, it's definitely worth it.

Yes, Red Steel doesn't have free form swordplay, but what game does?  Die by the Sword is the only one I can think of, and that was ten years ago.  Anyway, that's more of a problem with the game than the mechanics of the console.

I envisioned the on-screen movement mimicking the movements of the controller though.  Scripted animations in response to me moving the controller up or down was not what I was hoping for.  I expected more.  Maybe the developer is being lazy, or maybe the Wii controller isn't precise enough.  Time will tell.

Don't forget that games first released for a system don't take full advantage of the tech. Probably a year or so after launch you'll get exactly what you mention.  Well, I hope we do...

Whoa whoa whoa.

Sounds like many of you have purchased tvs that are far too large for your rooms.

From crutchfield:
Screen size  Viewing distance range

30" 3.75-6.25 feet
34" 4.25-7 feet
42" 5.25-8.75 feet
50" 6.25-10.5 feet
56" 7-11.75 feet
62" 7.75-13 feet
70" 8.75-14.75 feet

My couch is less than 6 feet from my tv, and my tv is 42 inches.

I don't know how you stand being so close to such a big screen. My eyes would end up like this:  retard

Ditto. I decided to rest my tender hamstring and hit the bricks with a 10 miler this morning.  Well, both kids are sick and I was awoken between 6-8 times last night...so I skipped the run this morning.

I also ate way too much this weekend (especially in the red meat genre- I shall be abstaining from it for the rest of the month) and know that even though I wasn't entirely a glutton, the scale shall reflect my indulgences.

That said, it's ostrich time. I'm not going to weigh myself for 2 weeks.  Tongue

8/30/06 - No change.   I guess that is ok as I'm working really hard in my martial arts class, so I have to be building muscle at the same time as I'm burning fat. It is just nice to see a numeric result...

I sincerely mean no offense, KD,  but at the weight you've listed on the graph you're either 6'6 and the baddest mofo in the world, or you are slow as molassas and horribly out of shape.

Additionally, no one builds muscle at the same pace they burn fat...it just doesn't work that way. It takes much longer to build a lb of muscle than it does to burn a lb of fat.  If you're the slow as molassas choice above, then you should by far be burning fat much faster than you build muscle.

If anyone watched Biggest Loser, one can see how the morbidly obese can drop weight very quickly by increasing exercise and decreasing intake (one guy lost 26 lbs in a week <of course he was 400 lbs>) but that does not equate to = lbs muscle gained.

The cheapest I've found HDMI cables from a reputable company (Phillips Brand) is 29.99.  So on top of the 600.00 + games I'm going to have to spend at least that to enjoy the capabilities of the PS3?

Dunno about you guys, but back in the days EB took returns, I was more eager to buy games at release than rent or read reviews, because if it turned out to be bad, I could always get my money back.  EB got alot more money out of me than they do now.

Word.

Back then it was the local babbages who took games back if we didn't like them. I never abused the policy.  If a game was good and I played through it, I kept it. But if it sucked, I took it back and got a refund. Toward the end of that policy I used to get shifty looks, but man I was a kid with limited resources and couldn't take the hit on a crappy game.  However, IIRC, Nintendo games were always non-returnable.  Am I wrong or was that just the retail stores?  Actually, now that I think about it, maybe NES games could be taken back when the console first hit and that policy receded over time.

At last another 3 day weekend is here.  While typically these don't bode well for my gaming hours as I tend to do lots of work on the house, hopefully you'll be more successful at securing some:

PS2:

Killer 7: Continues to hold my attention and rivet me to it's beautiful craziness
Dragon Warrior VIII: Hopefully I'll get some time with this. It has been a while

DSL:

Phoenix Wright: I'm, I would guess, about 2/3 through the final case, so hopefully I'll close it out
Mario and Luigi: PiT: Again, I'd guess I'm about 9/10 through it so hopefully this one will get done too

Xbox:

I've notice the absolute neglect my one time favorite console has fallen into since the PS2 and DSL arrivals at my house in March and June respectively.  If I can muster the will I might try out a little Half-Life 2. But Probably not.

Games you've been meaning to go back to and replay

XBOX:

Robotech: Battlecry - My first console game of the modern era and still one of the best.

Ninja Gaiden - I wrote in Mar of 2004: "The best action game Iíve ever played.  I will be playing it again some time in the future."  Still haven't gotten there.

Gladius - I no longer own a copy, but I'd love to play through it again.

PC

Disciples 2- I started it over in the past year, but stalled.  Would like to continue and eventually beat all the expansions

Diablo 2- Was hot for it for about 3 weeks 2 months ago.  Beat the first area and now it's sitting.

Fallout - Been meaning to replay this for years and years and years

Jagged Alliance 2- Almost beat it back in the bread and butter days of GG, but got bogged down.  Would love to play it if only to hear 'Perfect.' again.
