With all due respect--and I see both sides of the argument here--I think this argument carries a lot more weight when we're talking about something like people gouging others in a time of crisis (e.g. selling bottled water at stupid prices). We're talking about a game system here--a luxury item if there ever was one.

What he said.

Supply and demand trumps all.

Yep. It's called capitalism.

I've seen that games are often divided into categories- most of which I understand- but I'm not sure what constitutes an 'action' game?  I mean almost all games have some sort of 'action' in them.

Does that mean 3rd person over the shoulder perspective like what GoW is going to be?

What is an action game?

B. There's nothing I've seen that makes me want one
C. I've got the rest of a 360 and an impending Wii purchase to pay for
D. If I get one and ebay doesn't look viable, I'll definitely have a random drawing contest on GT to sell it at cost + shipping + maybe a little bit for time and emotional suffering icon_wink.

Uhm...why? Sure you can argue they aren't Wal-Mart, but in terms of specialty game retail 4200 stores makes GS/EB a not-so-minor force.

Cause I want to be pessimistic and be surprised when I have my hands on one rather than be optimistic and be disappointed.

That's odd...afaik you should be able to choose which model to reserve.

I was able to specify.

Gellar, we've known each other too long for me to make money off of you, so even if I decided to sell it to you, I couldn't justify making a cent off of ya. I was just jokin' earlier, thats why I put the winkie in there. I will probably just put it on eBay starting at $1.00 and let it ride. I'm hearing possibly that premium systems with popular launch titles may go for $1,000+ on there, so I am leaning towards just doing that unless someone here put an offer for comparable cash in front of me.

Well, I barely know Gellar at all and what I do know alarms and frightens me.  Suffice it to say, I'm standing firm at my $1200.00 offer

Plus, the soft under belly of jblank has been exposed and I don't know what to do. I feel...confused.

Well I am VERY confused then. Why are they telling everyone the wrong price? I heard him tell not only me, but 4 others, the exact same price, $629.99.

I would just say that the chances of it being in direct sunlight during game play are scant.  Sure, indirect sunlight may be a factor, but my guess is that most players- even including the non-'hardcore'- don't play with the curtains/shades all the way open....cause even non-'hardcore' eyes can't see the screen with all that glare.

13984  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Customer Service Angst on: October 09, 2006, 02:26:12 PM
Here are all the customer service issues I have going on right now.  I am about ready to go Emerson/Thoreau and go live in a cabin where I can never buy anything ever again.

Amazon: Buy 360 get Gears of War free. I order it and they pull the ad saying it was a mistake.  They've annotated my account that I should still get the game for free. We'll find out in november.

Best Buy: Bought a 3000.00 tv (my dad's) with triple rewardzone points. Still only have the initial value on my account.  I've called more that 1/2 dozen times to get this escalated to no avail.  Language barriers aplenty.  Called their complaint line. Have escalated to management.  Ridiculous. The last rep gave me 270 pts on my account for some reason. I'm owed 6000.  <sigh>

Verizon: The rep messed up my account setup 2 1/2 years ago and for whatever reason they want 15.00 a line transfer fee for us to get our entitled phone upgrades and my company discount.  That's 60.00 for their mistake.

Anderson Homes:   The place that built my house has someone who is absolutely incompetent as their warranty agent.  Two issues have been going on and on and on for months and she just can't put it together.

Oh and I'm still battling all of them. I won't capitulate.

What's the deal with countries like N. Korea and Iran?  You would think if 50,000 other countries (exaggeration, I know) are telling you, "Dude, you really should stop with the nuclear stuff.  It's just not cool", they would take a hint.  Maybe step back and say, "You know what, a billion other people are telling me it's not wise?  Maybe it's not?"

Because the UN is a spineless beauracracy that 'threatens' with words and then doesn't do anything about it when their warnings are ignored. It should be called the Appeasing Nations rather than United.  Kofi Annan is useless.

Korea having nukes is a potentially huge problem.

Let me just say, that if you're into turn based strategy and/or card games, Battles of Prince of Persia is a great title for the DS. It can be had for 10.00 and it's moved from a B title for me, to an A- and possibly climbing.  I'm really enjoying the mechanics and the strategy.  The AI isn't so great, but there have been times where I've felt I had to 'turn the tide' in order to beat the mission.  This is getting most of my time.

Also, played some Killer 7.  What a stylish and interestingly confusing game.  Not yet brilliant, but it's captivating.

What was your marathon time?  I'm running my second Marine Corps Marathon on the 29th.  Hope to be at about 4:15-4:20.

As for weight, I had a rough night last night eating wise. I was starving when I got home and basically ate a full meal at 9:30 at night.  I'll pay for that next week (and am paying for it today with a slightly messed up system).

Going to do 15 or 20 miles tomorrow...We'll see.

Are we sure that John Woo didn't direct this?

I've heard there's a scene towards the end where 8 Persians surround four Spartans (who each have 2 spears) and the movie pauses as each spartan points a spear at two different Persians while the Perisans have their swords pointed at the Spartans.  Then some white doves fly over, one of the Persians panics and pulls the trigger on his sword and everyone starts killing eachother.

If one of them screams out "THIS IS SPARTA!!" at the same time that would rule.

I've watched the trailer about a dozen times now and it looks so monumentally badass that I'm now praying to all the Olympian gods as well as every deity of every religion (just to cover all the bases) that this movie does not suck in the slightest.

Save time and pray solely to God. He's the only one there anyway.

As I have no interest in achievements at this point, that hasn't factored into the equation for me.  I don't see the value of getting achievement points, nor do I see myself going nuts to earn them.  If they can be earned playing through the game as I normally would, fine. If they can be achieved by doing a simple 'side quest' sure.  But I don't see myself bothering to be honest.
