Nope.  480p max support for Wii.

....which is pathetic in this day and age.

Ack, that sucks.  I was seriously considering pre-ordering, but not if it doesn't support HD.  I don't think I could go back to playing games at 480p after seeing the glory of 720p and 1080i gaming on my LCD tv.

And here we are again...

Just got back from target and took a look at both.  The black one is very cool, but if I were gonna buy another, I'd buy the pink.  That's right. THE PINK.

Edit: It's the one Damon Gant would buy.

How far into a launch does Costco typically come up with one of their stellar bundles?  Will any bundles from them be available at launch?

I'm hoping to get some major time with Okami tonight after our Pampered Chef party guests depart.  Haven't touched it since release day due to time constraints.

That and Advance Wars DS has me all wrapped up in it's War Room mode. I'm 3/4 of the way through the campaign, but I can't get enough of the 1 off battles. What a great game.
13968  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Is it gay for a straight, white male to own a pink DS? on: September 22, 2006, 12:20:26 PM
Lots of stereotyping going on.  Totally get the pink one.  Blaze a trail.

Oh and you're gay if you don't like Kelly Clarkson.
13969  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Is it gay for a straight, white male to own a pink DS? on: September 22, 2006, 09:34:50 AM
I think the pink DS is awesome.  If I were going to buy another one, I'd probably get the pink one over the black. Go for it.  thumbsup

Definitely not teh gay.

I could have sworn I heard or read somewhere that if you buy 5000 wii points (50.00) you get the retro controller for free.

Anyone corroborate this?
13977  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Wii Price Calculator on: September 21, 2006, 10:16:58 PM
$449.30

1 complete controller, 2 games and 2000.00 wii points + tax.

I hope to have about 200.00 in BB gift certs, so that'll bring it back down to retail price for the system.

Modify. Might pick up a 3rd game, but Wii'll see.
13978  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Okami impressions on: September 21, 2006, 04:34:43 PM
Yeah. You can save right after the intro...well maybe it was like 5 or so minuntes...but I think you could save immediately.

wait a minute.  Seriously.  Your gonna sit here and say that a game isnt really all that great, then turn around and watch something like The Biggest Loser?  'Reailty' TV?  WoW.

Let's not put the cart before the horse. I'm not saying it's not great, I'm saying that it hasn't clicked with me yet.  That's all. I fully expect, once I have an op to play for more than 20 minutes at a time, for it to rock my world.

And Biggest Loser is actually one of the most compelling and emotionally impactful shows on television.  Everyone can relate to wanting to change their life.  It's an amazing inspirational and fun show.

I'm about and hour in and so far it's neat, but I'm not loving it.  There's lots of potential but I'm just not in the OMGITSAWESOME stage yet.

And now that Biggest Loser is on, I probably won't touch it again until tomorrow.

It always takes me a long time to finish RPGs because I play this way (KOTOR took me a little over 90 hours), although I can't imagine doing it any other way - probably a holdover from the old RPGs where you had to talk to everyone multiple times just to know where to go next.

You and Starshifter are the RPG dream team then. He also takes a long time to complete them. In fact, IIRC, he won't run in a KOTOR game cause it's not what a Jedi would do.  He's the greatest.  icon_biggrin

I like it a lot, but the random battles sure do get me down sometimes.

QFT- I don't like using the holy water too often as I feel I might miss out on important experience points. But man when all you want to do is get to a save point, it can be a bummer.

Incidentally why do you leave it on?

I'm about at the same point - I'm just about to get the ship - and I'm at 55 hours.  That's nothing compared to Dragon Quest 7, though, which can easily take 120+ hours just to finish the main story, without doing side quests  eek

Whoa whoa whoa!? How'd it take you 55 hrs to get the boat? I did some pretty good exploration and I don't know how you're almost exactly at double my time.

Did you spend a lot of time on the monster arena?
13987  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Okami impressions on: September 20, 2006, 05:31:06 PM
Ok. I couldn't wait!

I booted it up and the opening cinematic is gorgeous.

The 'voice' of the narrator though is going to get real grating if it's used a lot though.

On into gameplay!

Harumph.  I meant to publish this 20 minutes ago. Silly warning about subsequent posts!

It might be that I've been anticipating this game for so long, but reading the manual has gotten me even more exciting. I have a meeting in 20 minutes and then I should be able to get a solid half hour in with it!
13989  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Okami impressions on: September 20, 2006, 03:52:45 PM
I wasn't gonna start on it until I finished DQVIII. Turns out I have about 70 more hrs to go.  retard  Hence, it's backburnered and Okami is king for now.

After calling everywhere and their mother 'shipment's not in' I struck gold at Gamecrazy.

Game is in my hands and I'll fire it up over lunch.

Manual is thick (for a console) and weighs in at 40 pages.  Looks like it explains some of the mythology, who  the gameplay and gives to obligatory tips..

Oh and it smells really nice too...smells like....love.

Probably be Jade Empire mini games where instead of hitting the same three buttons during combat ad nauseum you touch the screen in three places ad nauseum.
