Not North America. GLOBALLY.

Nah, with all the Nintendo fanaticism in Japan, and their fascination with "quirky" things, they will be all over the Wii, so I won't take that bet. When I talk gaming here, I am talking about North America. Global numbers are irrelevant to me, otherwise I would be all over Soccer, which people say is the "#1 sport globally".

Well, I don't believe it will be number one in NA...but globally I do.

If anything, there's anti-hype around the Wii amongst the gaming hardcore.  Gamecube 1.5, the Giimick, etc.

Sure, the post-hardcore (or as I like to call them, postcore) gamers are wetting their jaded Depends at the "INNOVATESHUN."  Pay them no heed -- in the face of the 360 and PS3, the Wii will inevitably disappoint.

#1 this gen. Watch and see.

Care to bet a $25.00 donation to the charity of the winners choosing, that it doesn't get out of the #3 spot?

Well, how would we set the parameters? What's the timeline?  By Christmas it will be #2 almost by default.  Does that mean I win?

Its affordable already though buddy. I can get you right now, at this very moment, links that show well performing, reliable, quality HDTV's, for $500.00 and if you want an LCD, hows about a 32" for $649.00?

That is still a ton of money for a TV. Specially when SD is 1/3 of the price.

Gonna Spend some time with Dead Rising, my first 360 game.  I keep starting over so that I can get the control scheme (and new controller) down...I also accidentally created two profiles and got some achievements on the one I deleted. Oh wells.

Have tried the demo for Smash TV and loved it. I loved that game back in the day. But...since I have no points I may not pull the trigger on it yet.

Finally, hope to log some time with Killer 7.

And you're going to escalate to whom when?

Actually, I guess I paide full price for Okami...but that was at 39.99 so it's kinda different.
13933  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: $60 Games Costing Sales? on: October 20, 2006, 12:56:00 PM
I'm a cheap ass through and through and try never to pay anywhere near full price unless there are extenuating circumstances.

I will pay full price gladly for GH2 in november.  I paid more than full price for Phoenix Wright.
I paid full price for Castlevania on DS (still haven't played it).

But usually I hit a sale, use a coupon, wait, or just adopt stuff later in its run and by that time there's much out there sub original msrp.

13936  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: There is no way the Wii can live up to the hype. on: October 20, 2006, 11:05:22 AM
Nothing is as good as the hype because we as gamers are lemmings.  Something comes out. We get lathered up at the potential. It hits and even if it's amazing it's never as good as our disproportionate hope.

Whe Wii is going to be fun and a huge success, but I have intentionally ratcheted back the attention I pay to it so that anything from here on in is a pleasant surprise.

I'm from case opening to playing the game in under 10 on my DS. I'm sure of it.

I'd let you know for sure but I've had my DS sitting open on the seizure warning screen for the last 8 hrs hoping Totaka's theme would play. ...

 :icon_eek:

Is this a new console or did they just send you a refurb?

It is a refurb.  Only reason I know is because none of the clear stickers are on the system.  I am going to let it sit overnight and try it tomorrow.

I call BS on this.  Call MS and UPS and say that the package you received contained very sensitive electronics, that it was left in the rain and is now damaged.  You want a replacement.  Escalate the mother out of that until you get satisfaction.

MS and UPS are bonded against this. They should totally replace the unit.

I grabbed Robotech: Battlecry off the backlog shelf today and realized I was barely into it when last I played it...

Two years ago.

As such, that's next on my "to complete ASAP" list.

The real gaming fun though will be next weekend when My Fair Lady is in Austin at a work conference all day Friday-Sunday. I may have to call in *cough* sick next Friday and burn through as much of my backlog as is humanly possible then. icon_twisted

Battlecry was my first console game since the Genesis.  It is still one of the best and is on my short list for replay.  BRAVO!

Sooooooo- I finally hooked into Live today and thus far am pretty impressed.

The interface is clean and simple, but I must say the dashboard in general is a bit overwhelming.  I've spent some time combing over it, but feel like there's still so much more to ascertain.  I've downloaded a couple of demos inlcuding SmashTV. Man I loved that game back in the day.

This leads to a question: What's the most ecconomical way to get MarketPlace Points?

I've added several of you to my friends list and would love to add some more. My Gamertag is SensuousLettuce.

My second question is: Why did I not have to give the 360 my WEP key in order for it to connect to live?  My router is secure...

13957  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: So, why was Xbox Live down yesterday? on: October 18, 2006, 03:32:30 PM
I have a questiona bout live:

Does your local profile have to be the same one you use for Live?

Also, DR specific, it says to have multiple saves use different profiles. But how does one do that and still have the same progress?

Lastly, with a silver account can one pretty much do everything except play multiplayer?

With a new 360 do they give you a few days of Gold for free or no?

I used to buy only new games as I wanted the whole 'experience.' I then used to keep all of my games- not necessarily for collecting reason, but just cause.  However, as a result of the trade lists on GG then CG, I really found hanging on to games that I'd never play again just was a waste of space and trade value.

I now only keep the games that have me at hello and that I know I will someday go back to.
