13801  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: PS3 -- Keep it or sell it? on: December 08, 2006, 06:12:26 PM
Sell it. I sold mine. Didn't make as much as I thought I would, but did pretty well.

Prices may spike at christmas, but if word gets around that the console sucks (bait) then prices will continue to drop.

Or you could sell it to me for retail and I'll sell it. slywink
13802  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Official Sales Numbers for November on: December 08, 2006, 02:40:06 PM
Given all the talk of how PSP is having its lunch eaten, one must notice that 400k units is a very strong number given that Sony hasn't dropped the price or created any killer bundles.

True as compared to the DS/GBA combined it's small, but overall it's far more impressive than I expected, as many of the gaming insiders consider the PSP a nearly dead platform and repeatedly state that Sony MUST DO SOMETHING (redesign, price drop etc) to get it back on the map...

13803  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Weekend Playlist 8/Dec/06 on: December 08, 2006, 01:57:09 PM
I'm gonna try to ease off this weekend as I have been playing entirely too much this week.  paranoid What an irony.

I'll be playing Elite Beat Agents throughout the weekend.  Also, might do some Gears of War multi on Saturday night...but as I said, I might take that night off.

Also, I'm totally back into Dead Rising as I try to experience some of the story (and psychopaths) I missed the first time.

I thought it was a joke tag.

Oh well.

He had been pretty money lately and I even commented to him that I appreciated his insights, but I think he's had enough chances.

D00D.

I bought an 80.00 antenna at Radio Shack back in January. I get all the major networks in High Definition and the picture is fabulous.

I have the antenna in my attic (it's 'electrified' as plugging it in boosts its strength).

Works fabulously.

Of course, you don't get cable channels that way.
13817  Gaming / Multiplayer Madness (MMO or otherwise) / Gears of War Teams on: December 07, 2006, 01:00:41 AM
Here's how I've seen it done against me, so here's how we can form together as a team in ranked games.

The It works and isn't quite underhanded way:

With one of us hosting, we all input the same custom search parameters.  Min rounds, max rounds, weapon switching, friendly fire and game type.

Then we key in on the game held by our host.

That way all join that game and have people move to the other team.  Typically folks comply.

Second way:

We host and kick anyone who joins our team and move over to the team.

I've seen this done probably a half dozen times in my short MP experience.

What say you?

Who wants to try forming a team besides myself, Kaigen, PeteRock and Calvin.  Jancelot?
13818  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: Gamespot 360/PS3 Graphics comparison on: December 06, 2006, 10:30:22 PM
Hmm it seems that the main difference is that the 360 graphics look a bit more washed out with the lighting...  I'm sure the full power of the PS3 over the 360 won't really be noticable until it has been established for 6 months to a year...

Guests are coming in on Friday and will be staying with us until Monday afternoon.  We plan to play a fair bit of Halo 2 multiplayer, but a few games of Gears of War may be an option.

Does anyone know if you can play Gears of War with two players on the same 360 over one Live account?  I think this is possible with Ghost Recon, but for some reason I thought I read somewhere that in order to play Gears of War over Live both players need online accounts on the same Xbox.  If not, and two of us can play over Live with one account, then you can count me in, as my friends and I can rotate in two at a time.

Paging Depward and TML. They were split screening the other night but the definitely had two accounts. Perhaps they know.

Is breaking the law permissible if it's done to "better their lives and take care of their children?"

Are you this soft on citizens that break the laws of our country? Personally, I don't care where they come from, what I care about is having our laws upheld by our government, and when people break those laws, the government enforcing them and punishing the offenders.

If I, jblank, a US citizen, have to follow the law of the land, then an outsider should also, and be subject to punishment if they don't.

Gratch, I've definitely become more discriminating as I've gotten older. I think the reason for this is equal parts burnout, time deficiency, and the realization that my REAL life was passing me by. In my closet I had over 150 games that I purchased but never got a chance to play. There actually came a point recently when I found myself stressing and purposely speeding through a game so that I could move on to the next one in my backlog. At that point I knew that it was time to re-evaluate my gaming habits

*snip*

Dante, I have recently (within the last six months) experienced this exact same thing and couldn't have explained it better myself. I have reduced my gaming library by at LEAST 50% since then and cannot even begin to describe how much better I feel because of it. I'm actually enjoying my games again!

I am considering doing this myself.
