Dead. Rising.

My first 'next gen' experience.  The game itself is a blast, though I don't really know how well it shows of the system's capabilities.

It is an absolute hoot.

Another 4 day work trip ahead. Hope to get at least a little time with Dead Rising.

Am planning on taking the PS2 with me this time to get in some play time at the hotel.

I'm still exhausted from the last trip...

I ask this seriously: How's the reload animation?

Obviously, it's not gonna be a gun dipping partially of screen at an angle, the click clack of a new clip and viola it's reloaded.

Does it show the musket drop down, the powder being poured, the flint being added, the ball insertion and the ramming of the barrel?

13729  Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / Re: Weight tracking, feel free to join in! on: November 10, 2006, 01:09:49 PM
ON a 2 week business trip. Got home last night. Weight this morning is 1 lb heavier than I left.

If I hadn't gorged for an entire week after the marathon, probably would have lost weight.  But given I was on the road and eating out every meal, a 1lb gain is a huge victory.

I get to go on another short business trip next week.

I'm 186.

I'm curious about this too. I wonder if KD can forego the 18th version of Tony Madden's Sudoku 2007 to play this and give us some impressions...

Hmmm. Loved Pt 1. Pt 2 may or may not be my favorite movie of all time...but this trailer, unlike the teaser released earlier, leaves me: meh.

I'm sure it will all come together, but that trailer really did nothing for me. Too much emphasis on Sandman and not enough on Green Goblin Jr. which is where I think the heart of the movie is going to be.

So I'm walking into the office today and for whatever reason the General Lee's horn tune blows through my mind and it hit me: it's not just a cool sounding horn, originally conceived of and developed specifically for the show, it's a tune.

The only thought I can think of is 'I wish I was in Dixie.'

Am I right?

Still more proof that as you age, you don't have to stop learning.   thumbsup

Crossroads is my nemesis.

Bark at the moon I can pass on medium....funny, I actually don't remember what cowboys from hell is...

I feel like people are becoming interested in Resistance by default, there's nothing else whatsoever to get excited about or justify the price tag of the console. If Resistance was to be exclusive on the 360 this year, god forbid the same month as Gears of War, I don't think nearly as many people would care about it. Not to mention the developer, Insomniac, doesn't have any experience outside of the worlds of Spyro and Ratchet.

Yeah but that's pretty much true for all 360 releases thus far.  Would Saint's Row have sold as much if it weren't for 360 or if 360 released more than one 'major' game at a time?  Probably not.   People wouldn't even have talked about it.  It seems people all buy the same game, play it for a bit and then move on to the next...cause that's all they can do.

13758  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / So I Ordered the 360 Vision Camera thing on: November 05, 2006, 12:22:02 AM
Because it was on Stootsi with 200 pts, the camera, a year of gold, 3 live games and something else for 54.99... 59.99 shipped.

I really doubt I'll ever use the camera, but the rest of the package was pretty sweet and I'll be on live soon!

Anyone have the camera or use it for anything?
13759  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: New 1UP show (Gears, Zelda, Red Steel, Yoshi's Island 2) on: November 05, 2006, 12:19:43 AM
By the way the 1up Yours podcast is the best one I've found.  I currently listen to Gamespot (great, but I'm growing tired of it) and CAG (fun because of the interactions between Wombat and CheapyD)

If you discount all of the swearing on the 1up show- which doesn't bother most- it's an amazingly well thought out and informative broadcast. They really know not just games but the business of games.

And it is sometimes gut wrenching, rewind and re-listen until your sides hurt funny.
13760  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: PS3 Launch Thread on: November 05, 2006, 12:16:53 AM
I'm very meh to PS3.  Only one game (Resistance) appeals to me, but it sounds REALLY good.

If I were, from poorest to richest: ATB, The Sultan of Brunei, Bill Gates, Teh Gellar, I would definitely scoop one up.

That said, I might possibly be getting one at launch and if I can work the numbers or figure a way to afford it, I'll keep it.  In the likely event that I can't, I'll be attempting to sell it. Even if the market is flooded and I can get, say, 800.00 for it, that's still a 200 gain which almost covers a Wii and/or cushions the costs of our upcoming DisneyWorld vacation.

If, the market is so bad that I can't make any money on it, I'll sell it to someone here at cost + shipping and insurance + 25.00 for my time.
