Hmmm. Loved Pt 1. Pt 2 may or may not be my favorite movie of all time...but this trailer, unlike the teaser released earlier, leaves me: meh.

I'm sure it will all come together, but that trailer really did nothing for me. Too much emphasis on Sandman and not enough on Green Goblin Jr. which is where I think the heart of the movie is going to be.

So I'm walking into the office today and for whatever reason the General Lee's horn tune blows through my mind and it hit me: it's not just a cool sounding horn, originally conceived of and developed specifically for the show, it's a tune.

The only thought I can think of is 'I wish I was in Dixie.'

Am I right?

Still more proof that as you age, you don't have to stop learning.   thumbsup

I feel like people are becoming interested in Resistance by default, there's nothing else whatsoever to get excited about or justify the price tag of the console. If Resistance was to be exclusive on the 360 this year, god forbid the same month as Gears of War, I don't think nearly as many people would care about it. Not to mention the developer, Insomniac, doesn't have any experience outside of the worlds of Spyro and Ratchet.

Yeah but that's pretty much true for all 360 releases thus far.  Would Saint's Row have sold as much if it weren't for 360 or if 360 released more than one 'major' game at a time?  Probably not.   People wouldn't even have talked about it.  It seems people all buy the same game, play it for a bit and then move on to the next...cause that's all they can do.

Anyone have the camera or use it for anything?
13709  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: New 1UP show (Gears, Zelda, Red Steel, Yoshi's Island 2) on: November 05, 2006, 12:19:43 AM
By the way the 1up Yours podcast is the best one I've found.  I currently listen to Gamespot (great, but I'm growing tired of it) and CAG (fun because of the interactions between Wombat and CheapyD)

If you discount all of the swearing on the 1up show- which doesn't bother most- it's an amazingly well thought out and informative broadcast. They really know not just games but the business of games.

And it is sometimes gut wrenching, rewind and re-listen until your sides hurt funny.
13710  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Re: PS3 Launch Thread on: November 05, 2006, 12:16:53 AM
I'm very meh to PS3.  Only one game (Resistance) appeals to me, but it sounds REALLY good.

If I were, from poorest to richest: ATB, The Sultan of Brunei, Bill Gates, Teh Gellar, I would definitely scoop one up.

That said, I might possibly be getting one at launch and if I can work the numbers or figure a way to afford it, I'll keep it.  In the likely event that I can't, I'll be attempting to sell it. Even if the market is flooded and I can get, say, 800.00 for it, that's still a 200 gain which almost covers a Wii and/or cushions the costs of our upcoming DisneyWorld vacation.

If, the market is so bad that I can't make any money on it, I'll sell it to someone here at cost + shipping and insurance + 25.00 for my time.

Tony Hawk's Project 8 for Xbox PS2
Call of Duty 3 for Xbox 360

Thrillville for PS2

All of which I'm reviewing in the short term.  The first 5 hitting on Tuesday or Wednesday, depending on embargo.

Seeing a list like that makes me glad I don't run or work for a gaming website.  The same title on three platforms?  I'm guessing you are going to log at least 2 to 3 hrs per platform.  eek  Plus all that other stuff? Man, sounds like work to me.

So...if anyone's interested, I called this afternoon and gave me the tracking number of the box that went out.  UPS says it should be here by next week.  Now I don't know what to do.  I should send my 360 in for repairs and hope for the best and use the time without it to play PS2 games.  But my birthday is next week and I haven't had a new game in forever.

Well, I'd take the first option and work on the backlog...but mine is currently 23 games...so that's why I'm leaning that way.  And if it has been forever already a couple more weeks shouldn't be unbearable...

If you just *can't* wait, well...
13716  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Pulling Eject on Nintendo Wii Purchase on: November 03, 2006, 05:57:42 PM
The unexpected arrival of a 360 has significantly reduced my cash stream so I won't be going all in on the Wii come launch day.

That plus the PS2 library + my DSL = Not enough time for another platform.

So...even though I'm truly intrigued by it, I'll be on the sidelines for the indefinite future.

Sigh. My trip has been unexpectedly extended...thusly, my only outlet will be DS which I haven't touched at all this week.  I SO miss Dead Rising, but won't be able to play 360 until Thursday at the earliest. That will make....more than 2 weeks since I last played any console at all.

So, but, yet, hopefully, I'll get some DS time in the coming days.

Battles of Prince of Persia is on my hitlist.

The attachment you place on sex is a bit much me thinks.  Sex or insanity are preposterous when considered the only opposite poles.

I think you're a sex addict.  Replace sex with heroin and you can clearly see the correlation I'm drawing.  You're an addict without the fix.

That's the crux of the problem and it manifests itself in frustration and as we prefer our feelings not to be devoid of meaning, that frustration for your must have a conclusion and you're 'shrink' and you seem to think that that end point is suicide or psychosis.  That doesn't mean, however, that that's where it has to go.
