It depends on your playstyle, but I would say two maybe three hours. I believe you have two more areas to play.
But it begs the question that if you hate the game this much that you want it to end quickly why exactly are you still playing? Masochistic? It is only under the most extreme circumstances that I won't complete a game. And since my gaming dollar is so limited and I paid nearly full price for this game (in anticipation) I feel I must finish it in order to get the bang for the buck. Even if the bang is not that great. Right now it's a c- title. If it were an F it would have long ago been ejected and traded....

Yeah...but with Hetz it can turn on a dime.
Remember when Morrowind came out? He was nutso about it for weeks if not months prior to its release...and then when it arrived he was all 'it's not that great'...
We all died a little bit that day...

Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Just Finished: Fable
|

In my world famous thread of a few weeks back I stated that it was one of the most fun games I'd played this gen. Well, the polish is off and though I give it a B+, it ended up not being as great as I had hoped. I finished it in just under 11 hours (which is a good length for me) and enjoyed all but the final hour or so. My biggest complaint is that it was far too easy. The character you create is pretty much king of the world and even the final boss can't really do much against you. The ending was also anti climactic. That was the choice? One question: Is there more story after the credits? I got a bad disk error as I was waiting and didn't want to deal with it again. So overall, it was great fun at first. Got very engaging towards the middle and then ended up as a 'I'm going to finish it just to finish it' for me. I'd still recommend it, but with caution. I would be willing to play a sequel though! Mid game spoiler. Something that should have happened but didn't: Questions for those who completed the game entirely <minor spoilers>: 1. What was the treasure at the end of the clue maps? 2. What do you get if you get all the dolls? 3. Is the sword in the stone any good?

WHAT?
NO KOTOR 3?
I will go absolutely ballistic if this is true. I swear I will not leave any prisoners.
Remember how excited I got over Emergency on DVD? Well, take that and change it to absolute hatred and anger and mulitply the intensity by 5 f****** billion!
How much more assanine can this industry get? You're totally the reason I changed the name of the thread. Misery loves company. That said, what someone above said, I figured immediately before my thread title change that both the titles were third party devs...so I'm sure it wasn't cancelled forever cancelled. It'll probably be a 360 title...and force me to buy it just for that game

Gladius (I'd post a link, but it seems my favorite console site doesn't hav a review). was/is a fabulous turned based strategy game by LucasArts that to the chagrin of everyone who has any sense didn't sell worth a hoot.
I, however, adored it. I put 50+ hours into finishing it (as the Barbarians) and there were many work nights that I stayed up until 3 in the morning playing it. That's how good it was for me.
Does anyone know of a game similar to it?
Anyone know the official status of a potential sequel?
If you fancy TBS, run don't run to your local bargain bin and pick it up.

Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / I'm A Pretty Neat Guy, Right?
|
on: September 29, 2005, 01:43:52 PM

So...why not shower me with gifts?
I mean I have started threads that have generated hundreds of responses on CG. Prior to that, my gifted posts were legendary on GG.
I did a great humanitarian act, sparing perhaps millions of people the horror of seeing Crowley photos yesterday, by starting a proper warning thread complete with the alias name of the offender in the title (unlike the completely useless thread attempt by Calvin listing no details that would unwittingly and eventually become a place tainted by the horror itself and causing many to die a little on the inside as a result)....
So, what I'm proposing, since you've all been able to bask in my neatness for so long now, why not buy me a Nintendo DS?
I know what you're thinking...someone as wonderful and humble as ATB would never accept such a gesture...as being a hero just comes natural to him. But let me put that concern to rest dear friends: I would accept such a gift.
I humbly await the details on how I can pick it up.
In the meantime, feel free to write and post poems and stories of adoration about me or, for you weirdos out there, dress in a COSPLAY representation of me.
!Tip!
XBOX 360 would be acceptible too...

Non-Gaming / Off-Topic / What are your 2 or 3 must-finish games?

I don't have any MUST FINISH games, as that makes me think a game is so good it is beckoning me on to complete it...but I'm in the middle of several
Fable (XBOX)- Really enjoyed it so far, but I'm ready to be done with it. It's far too easy.
Jade Empire (XBOX)- Because every dime I spend on a game is measured and I made the mistake of pre-ordering this and almost paying full price for it I have to finish it. I'm very near the end but would rather sit down to tea with Crowley than play this game.
Mercenaries (XBOX)- Started this a while ago, but knew that it would be something I play in fits and spurts as it's so repetitive. Not a knock, but that's the way it is.
Disciples 2 (PC)- First PC game I've played in almost 3 years. My favorite PC game of all time gets another play through and I now own all of the expansions...so this one is gonna take a while. W00t!

Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Gaming Hours Per Week?
|
on: September 28, 2005, 02:27:30 PM
|
|
Ok friends. I've had it with you. You guys with all of your consoles and handhelds already talking about buying the next gen machines. Where do you find the time to game so much.
I'm an average guy: I have a wife, one child (one on the way) a 40-50 hr per week job, a mortgage, car payment and no other debts. Still I cannot find enough time in the week to game as much as you guys seem to.
I'm thinking of maybe getting a DS at some point, but I don't know when I'd play it...
I'd say on average I get in 3 - 7 hrs per week. If there's a game that's feeding my soul I'll say up ridiculously late and play it, but those are rare.
Additionally, I watch maybe 2-4 hrs per week of TV and spend probably 5-7 hrs (on a good week) reading the Bible.
So given the poll, how much do you game?

I think it took me to the 1950s instead...

Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Which Prince of Persia 2 version is the least buggy?
|
on: September 26, 2005, 01:24:49 PM

Too many to mention them all but by far the worst is the save-game bug. many have experienced it and it bit me in the ass big time. Somewhere around the second tower level I saved. Fine. Then I played through a HUGE section and finally got to another save point. Saved. Whew. Thank goodness. Later when I started it up to play again I was back at the previous Tower save and not at the last one I had saved on. So, I tried it again and the same thing happened after saving a second time. Bottom line, unless I am willing to play 10 hours straight and finish the game from that point, I am screwed. I have read hat if you start over from the beginning of the game it might not happen the second time through. Might not happen!!!!! To hell with that.
Was this the XBOX version? Man...i can't imagine. I didn't have any save problems...

Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / The Best Game You've Played This Gen?
|
on: September 26, 2005, 01:19:39 PM
|
|
As many of you will be leaving those of us who are more cautious (read: prudent ) in the dust with the release of 360 and the next gen, I figure now is a good time to list the BEST game you've played on this gen.
It could be because of amazing gameplay, graphics or just be a title that moved the gamer's heart in you...
My Top Five:
5. Robotech: Battlecry - I was a Robotech super fan as a kid. Somewhere in my heart there's still a hope that Rick Hunter really exists and is flying around up there. My first game on this Gen and still one of the best... 4. SSX Tricky- The game that I most return to during a 'lull'. Flat out fun. 3. Ninja Gaiden- I still don't get how no one mentions the amazing graphics of this game as the cutscenes are the best of I've ever seen. Yes, OXM, even better than Halo 2. The difficulty turned many off, but for me, this is probably the tops Action game I've ever played. 2. Knights of the Old Republic- Many complained about the glitches...I only encountered one. An epic story that sucked me in and made me care about the characters and believe that the results of my actions held the universe in the balance.
1. Knights of the Old Republic II - I came away changed as a person as a result of this game. Again, many complained about this game's bugs (which I again somehow missed) but the story in this one trumped the original in every way....It's only in retrospect that I'm somewhat disappointed in 'what could have been', but before I knew about what was left out I came away more than satisfied.

As many of you will be leaving those of us who are more cautious (read: prudent ) in the dust with the release of 360 and the next gen, I figure now is a good time to list the WORST game you've played on this gen. It could be because of glitches or gameplay or a game that just didn't click with you. My Bottom Five: 5. Jade Empire - A game that could have been that shoulda never been. Put Bioware on my watch and wait list and removed them from buy day one sight unseen list...<forgot about this one Scott> 4. ESPN NFL 2005 - NCAA 2003 is still the best footbal game ever. This game has sees the receivers drop nearly every pass. The pricepoint got me on this one... Oh and the Crib? Lame 3. Spiderman the Movie - Worst controls and camera ever 2. Sega GT - Blech. 1. Soul Caliber II- I will usually give any game a chance, but this one...Played for 20 minutes and traded. Yuck. The only game in the 40 to 50 I've played this gen (probably buy 10-12 more) that has rated an F from me.

What bugs?
I must have the most blessed console life in the history of the world:
KOTOR: One bug found KOTOR2: One bug found PoP:WW: None
Warrior Within, upon purchase and first play, was SO bad. But once I got used to the controls, it turned out to be another A list title.
I would rate PoP:SoT an absolute A+. One of the best games I've ever played. I gave WW an A. Not as good, but still a greatly fantastic games.
Now...what bugs?

I finally played the demo last night.
I enjoyed it but my options seemed pretty limited...perhaps it's because of the demo nature, but I tried
<EARLY GAME/DEMO SPOILTERS>
to leave the body in the middle of the bathroom and bash the cop with his broom.
It didn't let me do it as after I cleaned up the blood I had to put the broom back.
So there's freedom to play it in different ways, but not too much....
Next, I tried to take the knife from the bathroom, stab the cop, take his gun and take the patrons hostage until the cops arrived. I also tried to negotiate for a helicopter and 1,000,000 bucks in small unmarked bills, but they would only give me a car and some lotto tickets. I was disappointed...
<END SPOILERS>
Are there more options in the full version?
