maybe you like kobra, maybe you dont.  maybe you like president bush, maybe you dont.  but come on wheres the outrage? this is our money!  or i guess more accurately our childrens and grandchildrens money - theyre the ones who will have to deal with outrageous interest rate jumps or a vastly depreciated currency (at best).  if i went into your house and stole your lousy 600 tv youd be furious - i guess this goes to show you if youre going to do something, do it on a scale so large its numbing to even comprehend

Are we still paying for WWII? Korea, Gulf I, Vietnam or the Revolutionary war?

Let me get this straight: Because we're spending 100 billion dollars a year on a war, the whole country is going to collapse and our children will be defending their cardboard box homes from Pirannah men?

Bush is going to leave this country in tatters,

Ok. Come on now.  Tatters?  Darfur is tatters.  Any of another dozen African countries are tatters (but we shouldn't help them as we need to money! -sorry, I editorialized that-).  Parts of the former Soviet bloc are tatters.  The US tatters?

When the roving bands of genocidal militia start circling or when we're machine gunning poor people looking for a better life for themselves and their children, then I'll agree, we're in tatters.

Of course schools were in tip top shape when Bush came into office and they've since begun an unprecendented slide-30+ years of decline!  And everyone was insured too before him too.

Of course, if Bush was offering funds for land mines and machine gun nests on the Mexican border, there'd be no problem then would there?

Future generations will be paying dearly for Dubya's record high deficit.

13607  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Weekend Playlist 29/Sep/06 on: September 29, 2006, 01:23:38 PM
I've got a busy weekend ahead so playing prospects don't look good.

I want to get back to Killer 7 so as not to forget how to play or where to go.

Am also going to try to get some good time in with Okami.  It's rather brilliant.

I'm also desiring to play some DQVIII, but don't know that I'll manage to swing it.

In the portable genre: Battles of Prince of Persia will get my attention with hopes of figuring out how to play it.
13608  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Card Based TBS Games: Specifically Battle of Prince of Persia on: September 29, 2006, 01:18:21 PM
I picked up Battles of Prince of Persia on the cheap and from what I understand Mage Knight is card based too.

I have no experience with card based games in real life or in a game and am a bit lost. I've only played through the first mission (which is a tutorial).  I'm enjoying the mechanics, but I have no idea how to build a good deck. Can anyone offer any tips?

If I have cards that let me take 4 moves, why shouldn't I always use them? Don't I want to move as many guys and make as many attacks as soon as possible so that the enemy is weakend in his counter attack?

When should I pass my turn?

Should I rebuild my deck every time for every scenario?

Other tips?

So, they are marketing their video game system to people who don't play video games?

It's a nice little thought, but I'm still not sure this is the best route to go.

It's like Toyota coming out with a new car aimed at people who don't have their license. Yeah, someone may be inspired enough to buy one, but I wouldn't imagine it would sell much.

It has been years and years since I've played a Madden game, and it will probably be years and years still until I ever do again. But this is an interesting development. It's good that the control scheme is coming together, but I'm still skeptical myself simply becuase I think the greatest obstacle to overcome is going to be the millions of people who are used to playing with a standard controller.

I just don't see the fan base for this title on the Wii.  But again, maybe their target is me: someone who hasn't spent a dime on Madden in...gosh...11 years who will be drawn by the innovation...

I'll make you a deal; apply a bit of thought to this issue,

Wash your finger before you point at my spots.

Minefields and machine gun nests are a 'bit of thought'?   Are we at war with Mexico? How else could you justify such an action?  Perhaps if we substituted sniper nests for the machine guns we could pick them off from a 1/2 mile out!

My finger is quite clean sir, and before you point back at me, check your facts. I never said minefields or machine gun nests were a good idea, in fact, if you would read what I wrote, you will see that I never even hinted at anything like that at all.

That said, if it takes an armed prescence down there to act as a deterrent, then fine, I support that, but its a helluva stretch to go from armed patrols and monitoring, to machine gun nests and minefields. Come on man, think about it, use that noggin for a moment. If someone was constantly trying to break the laws and violate your rights, by possibly breaking into your house, would you not take measure to ensure you and yours were more secure? Jeez, how is this even an issue in this day and age? Whatever, always gotta be some contrarians around, so be it.

Pay attention. You got on my case because I took Kobra to task for for his machine gun/minefield comment. So you complicitly acknowledged/supported that argument.

Yeah, plugging up the borders will solve the cop-killing and child-indecencying because no legal U.S. citizens would do that.

Out of the 11-12 million illegals, even conservative estimates put the criminal element in that number at 2 million.  Thats 2 million additional criminals in this country that should NOT be here. Are you aware of the crime in Mexico?  Right now drug lords and criminal empires control a large portion of Mexico, entire cities even, and police assasinations are quite common in the news down there.  Mexicos #1 export to the US is CRIME.

They've even adopted some Islamic Terrorist methods;

Bottom line, we need to put up a fence, a mine field, and man the borders with machine gun teams.  I am sick and tired of thousands of illegals a day pouring into this country, we have to put a cork in it.

Yeah! Then we can go door to door checking for ze papers. Anyone who we don't like gets a red chili pepper sewed to their clothes and over time we can round them up into ghettos.  If we want, we can kill them on the spot!  Huzzah!

Meh.  Looks pretty but I don't see anything revolutionary about the crowd ai that she touted. The demo showed people being pushed down with no repercussions.

Also, the guy just sneaks up behind the target kills him and the guards just stand there. They would have rushed him immediately.

Then, he climbs the wall, leaps away and is 40 paces ahead of everyone else almost instantaneously.

Meh.

Agreed. I enjoy it in games where it's implemented well, but don't know that I'll care that much if it's not in a game.

I've basically taken the week off from running.

First, because I have no motivation at all to take off on anything longer that 5 miles so why bother.  Plan to start up again tomorrow with...a 5 miler.  disgust
Second, I've been overwhelmingly tired despite pretty solid sleep lately
Third, tangientially, but most importantly, my left leg is still bothering me. Not a good place to be just over a month from a 26.2 mile jog.

I've also really relaxed my eating standards this week, so I fully expect to feel the impacts of that on the scale next week.

We'll see though.
