There is a directional compass on screen that points which way the wind blows. And yes, when it blows against you and you're on the opposite side of the map, the wind isn't the only thing that blows.

So no techniques or helpful hints then, eh?

Once I adjusted to the controls, the game became a hoot.  I love them both.

How exactly do you sail against the wind?  IF the wind is blowing right to left and I need to go right, how do I do it?

I take my sails down put em up, change my angle etc, but can't generate any speed.  Is there a sailing/navigation trick to help?

Pretty much all cities to the east are virtually inaccessible because it takes me so long to sail to them.

Are there any indicators about tide/wind patterns somewhere in the game?  Other help appreciated too.

I will be on the market in the next 60-90 days for a 32-37 inch tv. Right now I'm leaning toward LCD...

Anyhoo- You see HD ready sets and those with HD built in. As best as I can surmise, the former means that you need an HD 'converter' to get an HD picture.

So lets say I buy an HD ready TV and plug my XBOX with an HD game in it. Does the X act as a 'converter' or would I still need an external box of some sort?

What would the price difference typically be on a tv- all things considered- that has one that is HD ready and HDTV built in...

What type of peripherals would I need to game in HD, I guess is the quesiton...

And the new one ain't much better. This ad campaign is completely going over my head. I find them very violent (try watching them with the sound off). They don't appeal to me as a gamer, and I see little in them to intrigue a casual watcher.

Metal Arms: Glitch in the System.

Just an unparalleled level of variety of gameplay, humor and freshness.  Just when you settle into a groove, they throw a new opportunity to be clever at you, whether it be a vehicle mission, arena mission, super boss mission or ????

I'm on the final battle level and have totally enjoyed this game.  Far more than I expected (despite the raves about it on the boards).

It's also a LONG game and has taken me several weeks to get through (of course I'm not a power gamer).  What a great time.

The designers on this one should be so proud of the work they did and again, hoping against hope, that this title gets a sequel that it so richly deserves.

Once again, I recommend this title to just about everyone who has a gaming console.  It's just brilliant!  Even better than just some silver medal (Ron Burke, whowever he is, needs to be fired).

It is on the cusp of permanent status in my collection which is the highest complement a game can get from me.  We'll see how it ends!

Incidentally, according to my XBOX word document (yes, I'm a geek) this is the 40th game I've played on the XBOX platform.  What a great investment it has been!

OXM has me starting to crave a 360...I'm still miles away from getting one, but some of the coverage of the various titles that are expected is begining to pique my curiosity.

That said, I've been swooping in on ebay and buying some XBOX games really cheap to round out my collection before they get scarce.  

I've picked up: NBA ST V3, SSX 3, BIA: Hill 30, and KUF: Crusaders.

My XBOX and I won't be parting ways for a while

I've already re-subbed for one more year (ending 12/06).

I won't be getting the 360 at least until a price drop (if ever), but allegedly (I think I read it in OXM) there will be another 400 XBOX releases in 2006. So there should still be plenty of coverage for the old schoolers.

Ok, I'm starting to think that my latest issue of OXM got swiped or something.  I seem to recall reading here that a few of you got yours a couple of weeks ago, but mine is nowhere to be seen.  I'm getting a little irritated because I just saw the new issue on the shelf at the local grocery store and I fail to see what the point of having a subscription is if you don't get issues at least by the street date.

I currently have a mortgage of 170k and it's only 1350 and taxes in Northern Virginia are OUTRAGEOUS.  I'm getting ready to buy a new house in NC and the lender says figure 60 dollars per ten thousand...so 180 = 18 x 60 = 1089 for princ and interest.

Figure 400 bones or so for insurance (per year)  + whatever your taxes will be.

You should be able to escape with a 1500 to 1600 mortgage.  Still well off of where you want to be but not near 2000.

Finally, is the 180 figure with down payment or before?  If you dont' put 20% down in one form or another you can expect to pay for Private Mortgage Insurance too (PMI).

I'd say around 10.  Definitely on the short side, and I didn't see anything that listed the time played.

Well 10 hrs is a lot of gaming time for me.  So that's  a great length for me... As to whether I'll ever get it...well that just remains to be seen.

How is it that Pro Wrestling is not on that list of best titles?

And Metroid a missed gem?  Gah!  That game was legendary...of course the codes to continue made me want to eat my own eyes...but still.

Wow.  This game rocked.  I picked it up yesterday and pretty much played straight through.  The story is great, the action was intense, the targeting system was...was... fucking annoying.  If only there was a way to turn off the autotarget all together.  anyway, you can get this one for 25 used or 20 for the PC version.  It's worth your time and money at that price.  I just hope they make the other 2 games in the series, or at least one more to give a sense of resolution


Oh yeah, and you really want to sit through the closing credits on this one.  There's more gameplay after them  :twisted:
