Has anyone had games they were really, really excited to get, then once they got them, you never really played it much?

Bully = 1 hr
Okami = 9 hrs  Both sold on Ebay.

I'm on the fence right now as to whether to just give up and trade in both Jade Empire and Gladius since neither grabbed me and they're just sitting there taunting me while taking up space on my shelf.

Jade Empire sux. Don't bother. Put it under the tire of your car and crush it.  Gladius, on the other hand, is brilliant.  I finished that game after an all too short 55 hrs.  Man that was fun.  Meant to go back and play the other path but never did and sold it.  icon_frown

I've now gone to the dark side on this. I'm pretty much playing through BFME2 just to get the points associated with the campaign.

The controls in this game are possibly the worst I've ever played on a console game....well except maybe for the original spiderman game on xbox.

The story is ok and if I didn't love the universe, I'm not sure even the points would sway me.

How far in are you?

I hated the controls for the 1st 3 or 4 missions too.  But I also stuck with it for achievements.  After a while the controls clicked and I actually grew to like them.  I'm not sure RTS controls with a gamepad could ever be super intuitive.

I'm on Mission 7 of the good campaign.

13484  Gaming / Console / PC Gaming / Calling it Quits on a Game: What's Your Threshold? on: January 11, 2007, 06:27:36 PM
It had been very rare that I'd give up on a game.  If I bought it, I sure was gonna get my money out of it.  Hence my backlog had grown so large.  With the recent sell off and the addition of the 360 I've become far more willing to cast off games that I didn't really care for and/or know I won't get back to.

What is your threshold for giving up on a game? Is it based solely on whether you like it or not- or do you take into account costs v. getting your money's worth?

An example of a game I wouldn't bother to play through now is Shadow of the Colossus.  A rare example of a game I gave up on very quickly- literally 10 minutes- was Soul Caliber II.

Right now I have DQ8 and while I'm loving it, I can't see myself giving it another 70 hrs.  On 360 the game that actually spawned this topic is Battle for Middle Earth II.

Craving somethign I hadn't played in a while- RTS- I took the gamble to the tune of 28.00. It's ok and I love the Tolkein universe, but the controls and map navigation are eye-clawing out frustrating.

Still I feel compelled to continue...

So I tried something: I submitted the exact same qualifications and info I submitted with my other apps, only I named myself David Marshall Hill instead of the arabic last name I have now. I submitted the exact same apps with my real name the day before or the day after.

I actually got calls back on the apps where I changed my name. I got none on my apps with my real name.

You need to make a resume video and title it something catchy... hmm... how about.... Impossible is Nothing!

ATB won't buy RS:V?  eek

ATB, if you want the long-awaited BC vs GT vs OO to happen, it has a greater chance of happening with RS:V (and probably GRAW 2 in march) than with GoW.

I intend to buy it some day. But desiring something... COMPLETELY DIFFERENT I bought BFME2 (28.00!).  If I was playing it on the PC it'd probably be tons better- as man- it is a mother trying to control this thing with the 360 controller. Whatta pain.

So I have to play through that first (it's growing on me- though everything is a tank rush) and only have 11 more missions to go. I also have COD2 sealed (19.99!) and want to start on that before I buy RS:V.

So I should be ready to play in a month or two biggrin.

Not to mention the new GoW map packs.  More fun than shooting calvin square in the back of the head, him not dying for some reason and then having him melee me to death!

But that still shows my point: what the trailer reveals is the exact opposite of "Robots in Disguise".

It's more like "Robots coming to kick your ass, and they aren't in disguise, because they don't give two turds if you know they are robots or not".

Exactly.

And I really hope they don't go with Hugo Weaving.  He has such an annoyingly limited acting range.

Agreed overall, but he was spectacular in Vendetta.  Spectacular.

The voice chat fix is awesome. Everyone can talk to everyone else after every match regardless of what team and whether you're dead (ATB) or alive (Calvin).

Thumbs up so far.

However, there is now this pop up message that appears every time there's significant lag. It stops the whole game with everyone frozen in place until the 'lag' or connection viability is re-established. It really throws off your game.
